The lion chases the teenager with the umbrella

The red really stands out agains the gray scenery, but he never noticed. Mostly because he was always under it, and it had never caused problems.
After spending a little time in the plaza, mingling with a few new arrivals, he decides to head back to his room for now, before training. Something felt a little... odd, though. He couldn't quite pinpoint it, so he stopped at the entrance of the housing unit. His umbrella was raised up a bit higher as he tried to glance around at his surroundings, not even trying to hide his peering as people passed him.
Hm. It's probably nothing. ]

Rain doesn't bother Mikoto, hasn't bothered him for years. It's a rip in the otherwise immutable laws of physics that brings him comfort with its familiarity (hah), keeping him dry and warm amongst the crowd of drenched newcomers. He hadn't stayed long to mingle, too exhausted, too irritated. Misery loved company only up to a certain point.
The apartments had been a little harder to find than advertised, and Mikoto would be lying if he didn't say that a couple of benches that he'd passed along the way hadn't looked more and more enticing with each wrong turn. But he'd managed. Somehow, with energy that he hadn't known he'd left to spare, he'd found his destination. Arrived, right on time.
He stops. Just for a moment, but it's still long enough to count.
'Cause that face? Oh, he wouldn't forget that face even if death took him prematurely, kicking and snarling and on fire.
He lets the cigarette fall from his mouth and crushes it with his next step forward, the air heating around him, evaporating the puddles that he cuts across. Not the subtlest start to a hunt, but it'll do. He's in no state of mind to be picky. ]

Yashiro was just about to turn around and go inside when he feels himself being drawn to... something beyond his actual vision. He feels the heat - an uncomfortable mix of moisture and temperature, and he flinches a little. Unwittingly he turns to the source of the heat and fixes his gaze on... is that a person? He doesn't know why he found himself looking at him first.
For now, he doesn't move, but continues to stare. Who is this? What is this immense presence? His otherwise blank expression turns into a frown.
Well, oh well.
Doing his best to brush it off, he turns around and reaches for the door. ]

Running away or a dead man's attempt at ignorance and innocence -- it didn't make a difference. Poor acting is irritating at best, and Mikoto wasn't too particular about driving his fist through the heart from the front or the back. As long as said heart stopped beating in the end, it's all the same to him.
If a jump in temperature had been noticeable before, it's now borderline uncomfortable, unnatural. The speed of his steps remain relaxed, though he wastes no time in filling the silence as soon as he's within hearing distance (and maybe that's the most telling sign of all). ]
--Hey. [ It's a low rumble of a syllable, barely above a growl. Turn yourself back around and cancel all your dinner plans 'cause he needs a moment of your time. ] Let's skip the part where you play dumb, hm?

But it clicks when he hears the "hey." Ohgodohgod, Yashiro has only been here for so long, and knew in his mind that there were people after him, but he had taken it for granted that he was safe here. That there was no chance of any of them arriving here. He doesn't recognize this particular person, but there's no real time to think about it.
So he panics. ]
I'm sorry! Do I know you?

This time -- it's a face that catches his eye. A face he didn't think he'd see again. He lowers his camera hand as he runs towards that person. ]
Wait up!

When he turns towards the man hurrying up to him, it takes a little while for his brain to even register what he's seeing. But as he gets closer, the recognition lights up his face. ]
You're...! From the...
[ Oops, it appears he's unable to complete sentences at the moment. Not only is this the first person besides Shiro he recognizes from home...but he never expected to see this man again, either. ]
no subject
It's really you! We finally meet again. Sorry I had to run off on you when you were still sleeping.
[ He looks the other person over for a second, noting that they actually look well. ]
I didn't get to thank you personally either, so thank you very much! You really helped me out back then.
no subject
Kuroh missed...oh, the last half of that, or so. He was too busy moving his katana aside and giving a deep bow, right as the other man erroneously thanked him. ]
There is no need to apologize. I should apologize to you, since you ended up looking after me. [ And then if it's possible, he lowers his bow. ] I was never able to thank you properly for that.
[ A cheerful note and a can of fruit appearing as if summoned from a fever dream. Whether Totsuka knew it or not, that brief encounter had left him with deep memories of happier days. Something that was, apparently, turning into a recurring theme today. ]

-- so he was this kind of person. He should be the one thanking this person for saving him, really.
Lifting his camera and half-kneeling so that the camera is pointed right up at the bowing dark-haired boy's face, Totsuka grins. ]
Well, alright! If you will tell me a little about yourself and show me around, I'll take it as repayment.

Go. [ A single word directed towards the teenager on the ground, but Kuroh doesn't face away from the pursuer, hard as that is. Breathing through the heat in the atmosphere, Kuroh steels his gaze, issuing a silent and remarkably ill-advised challenge. ]

Kur-- [ But any words of gratitude he might've had are cut off buy Kuroh's command. Wordlessly, he nods and scrambles to his feet, darting into the nearest building.
He's safe for now. But he can't just leave Kuroh alone.
He'll think of something. ]

His next sigh is low and heavy, rumbled deep, irritation clear. The newcomer's sudden appearance and challenge doesn't go unnoticed, but it's a minor annoyance at best, nothing worth acknowledging. So shortly after the smoke and steam is swept away, he's back in motion, his Aura trailing behind him as coattails of fire hanging from his shoulders and back. It's a well-paced walk, destination: the building that's now serving as Shiro's new hiding place.
And as it's a straight line from point M to point S, he has full intentions of going right through any attempted obstructions. ]
... Move. [ First and last warning. ]
no subject
He almost goes for Kotowari, then thinks better of it and just moves into a less stiff stance, ready to block, or attempt to block whatever is coming. ]

The steady march comes to a stop. The wait's not long after that, as the next pause is only there to account for the time that it takes for him to raise his arms, lit aflame as the rest of him. Swung forward, momentum and fire twist to release a torrent of his Aura, peeling off chunks of cement as it rushes forward with little regard for control and even less finesse. ]

Ah... he looks so beat up. A moment's guilt overcomes him as, obviously, this was his fault. But he can get him up and situated in a safe place for now as repayment. It's the least he can do.
So he starts shaking his shoulder. ] Kuro, Kuro? Wake up...
no subject
Ichigen...sama... [ That's the name his subconscious matches it to. But at this point he's not fully awake. That's right. He had been talking about Ichigen just a little while ago, right? Then Shiro walked in...
That's when he startles awake, head still fuzzy and ears ringing. He's on the ground, and he's looking up at somebody...who is that... ]

[ But his smile disappears as his eyes flit upward cautiously for a moment, just to double check that they're really alone, and then back at Kuro, searching for injuries. ] Are you okay?
no subject
A little too soon. The dizziness returns, and with a hand to his head, he leans forward, breathing a bit heavily. ]
I’ll be fine....just need some time. [ His injuries aren’t what’s important right now. Bewildered, he looks back up at Shiro. ] Why are you... [ ...alive. ]
no subject
Ah... Thanks to you, I managed to escape to safety somehow. [ Are you looking yet, Kuro? He smiles. ] So thanks.
But... We should probably get out of here before they come back. [ He holds out his hand. No rush, take your time, but... you know ]
