Epidemic Exsilium: Stage Two
Date & Time: June 8th - June 14th
Location: Throughout Exsilium
Characters: Anyone participating in hunting down the sleeper agents; anyone participating in taking care of the ill, or being ill themselves.
Summary: Stage Two of the Super Virus Epidemic strikes; sleeper agents of the United Earth are revealed.
Warnings: Illness, violence, needles. (Those IVs, man!)
Sniffles and coughs aren't unusual during the spring, with people combating allergies even in the far future, and colds being as present as always. But with more and more people falling ill, and none responding to antibiotics, things are starting to get worrying.
The first death is of an infant, on the night of the 7th. It's not the only one: three more are recorded not long after. It's unknown about the state of patients who never presented for medical assistance. Those familiar with viral infections fear the worse, especially as the usually healthy demographic starts arriving, coughing and displaying symptoms of the same sort of illness.
If that's not enough out among the natives, the Initiative has received its own information and insight into the true nature of the virus. "Wasmannian" Agents, spies of the Initiative in the United Earth, have reported back information at great cost to their security in their undercover positions. There is a super virus headed your way. They've been shipping it in to the island since December 3312. These are the manifests. We've deciphered most the code-names. Good luck.
Now the Initiative turns to the Transports for additional manpower to hunt down the United Earth's sleeper agents, pick up the shipments of the virus, and track down its physical origins in order to do something to stop the impending decimation of Exsilium's population.
Things are getting scary. It's a sick, sad world out there. Where are you, in the middle of it all?

I think... I need... a doctor.
[Then she collapses.]
no subject
Oh- oh my gosh! [She'll rush forward and drop down next to her.]
Are you okay!? [No, obviously not, Cheria, but it seemed like the best thing to ask at the time.]
no subject
Coughing. Hard to breathe. Dizzy. I think I need a doctor.
[Her nose, under the grey, is reddened, and she looks a little puffy in the face.]
no subject
[Cheria tries to get an arm under her to help her up, since she isn't sure she's strong enough to actually full on carry someone.]
I'm a medic, so- I'll try to help as soon as I can get you into a room, okay?
no subject
If there's a place I can sit, I can do that.
no subject
[Were there even rooms open now? There were so many people coming in to get checked on, she wasn't sure but... This girl definitely needs one. There's not really time to wander around and check though, so Cheria helps her over to the nearest open chair.]
Just... Hold on, okay? I'm going to go grab some supplies.
[And with that she's hurrying off to grab a bag with medical tools in it, and some medicine, though she isn't sure if it will even help. It hasn't been doing much on previous patients. When she returns she also has a cup of water and holds it out to her.]
Drink this first. Have you been staying hydrated?
no subject
I've been taking care as best I can. Drinking water and tea, had some rolls that someone brought by. Not that hungry, really.
no subject
[She pulls a stethoscope out of the bag, pressing it against her back first to listen.]
How's your coughing been? Are you getting a lot of phlegm?
no subject
She looks somewhat wryly at Cheria.]
....I think that answers your questions. Sorry. [She regards the lump darkly.]
sorry for the delay work's been kicking my butt
Let's start you off with an expectorant, to see if we can't knock more of that loose, okay?
[It's something she'd put in the bag just in case, and she's glad she did. She measures the dosage and hands it over.]
Do you need more water?
no problem work > rp 'cause money
Please. [She says, softly, trying not to cough more.] Thank you.
a sad truth :c rp is more fun though
I'll be back in a second.
[She disappears to fill another cup of water before bringing it back and handing it to her.]
I just saw an empty room on my way back, so after we get this medicine in you, we'll move you in there, alright? It'll be easier to monitor your health that way.
Through job is money for Internet thus RP
All right. Tell me where to go.
also true! but at least i got four days off for my troubles uvu
[She should probably get her a wheelchair anyway, but she doesn't want to leave her alone for long, either, in case she collapses again. She can always help her along at any rate.]
hopefully also a good paycheck!
[She pulls herself up, slowly, until she stands, breathing hard and bubbly.]
Just lead me.
[She pauses.]
Thank you. Not used to being sick.
yep! couldn't complain
[Cheria leads the way slowly so she can keep an eye on her movement, just in case there's any falling forward or things of that nature. She wants to be ready to catch her if need be. She'll lead her to the closest available room and gesture for the bed so she can sit down.]
It's no problem! It's my job to help out. [She seems curious.] Do you not have illness where you're from, or...?
Excellent!
There's disease there. There's a god whose entire job is handling disease and plagues - and the curing of them too. I just... don't get sick. The last time I was sick, the disease itself was magical and it took big magic to cure it before it got really bad.
[She pauses, coughing, then continues.]
I'm not... all human. So that's probably part of why.
no subject
Why does someone exist for such a thing?
no subject
[She coughs, then swallows.]
Rules of how things work are set; their priests are given their standards to follow. It's all very organized. There's even gods of chaos and madness, so I think there's something fudging with the whole arrangement to make it work.

[Cheria will shift the bed so it's in a sitting position, fluffing a few pillows before she turns back to Meliantha.]
This will be your room for now. I'll get you checked into the system so everyone on staff will know you're here. How's your appetite right now?
/
[Meliantha lies down.]
Not very much of one. I don't feel stomach-sick, just... like I've been trampled by a cavalry division one at a time.

[Cheria jots notes down on sheet of paper on the counter, scribbling down the dosage she'd already given her.]
Do you want to try to eat something small? We have some bread in the cafeteria. I'll have one of the nurses put you on an IV to keep you hydrated. [She'd been able to pick up most things dealing with modern technology easily, but she was still hesitant about IVs and needles, since she was worried she hadn't had enough practice with it yet.]
