[Another day, another trip to the market - Emil still hasn't quite gotten the hang of modern technology like refrigerators, and it's nicer to get ingredients fresh (as much as he can here, at least) instead of always worrying about spoiling like he does when traveling. He's gotten more used to the bustle of the marketplace in his three months in this world, and since recovering from the virus (along with certain other events) he's feeling in a good mood.

So when Emil spots somebody he recognizes from the missions he's been on, he satisfies his curiosity and approaches.]

We've met before, haven't we? I don't think I ever caught your name.

[ It's taken Suzaku longer to get back onto his feet that he'd like to admit. When the virus hit him, it hit him hard, and when the bombing started and Suzaku mysteriously found himself out of the hospital and wandering around in the middle of the contaminated streets... well things had gone from bad to worse.

It was probably pretty lucky that Suzaku was even up and walking the way he was now, even if the sight in his left eye still hadn't returned yet. Really lucky considering after everything that happened a lot of the fresher food in Suzaku's apartment had gone bad, and after a few days a lot of the non-perishables were running low too and Suzaku had to trek out to resupply his apartment.

He's sort of absorbed in scanning over some strange looking vegetables when he hears someone addressing him, and has to twist his entire body around to be able to see who it is. ]

You're...

[ It takes him a few seconds, but Emil's face eventually clicks into place. ]

The boy from the Australia mission.

[ And from the world they lost, but that's one mission he really doesn't want to talk about. ]

Oh! Right, sorry. It's Suzaku Kururugi.

[ Putting down the vegetable he was holding, and turning to face Emil fully now. ]

You look like you're doing well after everything that happened.

I'm all right. My friends and I...we're safe, at least for now.

[Because the way things have been going, who knows if it'll get worse?]

My name's Emil, by the way. Emil Castagnier. I'm sorry it's taken this long to introduce myself.

[quisling]

[ It's probably better to expect the worst in any case and stay ready for it.

Suzaku's letting out a small, relieved sigh and smiling. He's not sure how many people were caught up in the bombings that didn't make it out, but... ]

I'm glad to hear it. And don't worry about the late introduction. The situations we met in weren't exactly the best for them.

[ Holding out a hand for a handshake. ]

My name is Suzaku Kururugi. It's nice to meet you, Emil.

[Emil takes the offered handshake.]

Yes. It's nice to meet you too, now that we're not in such a serious situation. I hope you've been well since the last time we saw each other.

[quisling]

[ And handshake is go! And unlike some other characters played by the same mun, Suzaku's not trying to squeeze Emil's hand into fine powder with his handshake.

And he really hasn't, but he's not going to tell anyone that in the first place. ]

As well as anyone can be here at Exsilium.

[Thank you for not murdering his hand, Suzaku. Very much appreciated.]

That's good. In times like right now, even that much is something to feel lucky about. I hope we can get a little peace for a little while now...

[Even if that's totally against what they're here for.]

[ He has two brain cells in his head. Unlike some other people... ]

It's hard to say if we really will though. Lately it feels like one thing after another with not a lot of time to rest in between before the United Earth makes its next move.

It does feel like that, but for all our sakes I hope they're taking their time for whatever's next.

[Of course, there's unfortunately no controlling whatever they will actually do.]

[quisling]

[ There isn't, and without the proper resources there isn't a whole lot they or the Initiative can do to prepare against whatever they might have in store. ]

Besides staying alert and keeping on our toes, hoping is about all we can do for the time being.

[knightofcourage]

I guess so.

[That's not easing the worry at all of course.]

Maybe it'd do some good to go train, once I'm done getting the groceries.

[quisling]

[ Sure isn't. ]

Right, but there's no reason to rush into it right after you get food. It's not like the Initiative has limited access to their training facilities.

[knightofcourage]

I know. I just feel like I have to do something right now.

[quisling]

[ He can understand the feeling. ]

It's not a lot, but if you want to meet up sometime later today we can train together. It's been awhile since I've had anyone to have a match against.

[knightofcourage]

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe we can each learn something from it, too.

[quisling]

I'm hoping so. The last time I saw you, you were using a lot of techniques I'd never seen before.

[ Including stuff that looked like straight up magic to him... ]

[knightofcourage]

Techniques?

[He has to think for a moment, and then--]

Oh, do you mean artes?

[quisling]

[ He looks a little confused by that. ]

Artes? Is that what they're called?

[knightofcourage]

I think that's what you mean, anyway. Artes are fighting moves you can learn to use in the world I come from.

[quisling]

We don't have anything like that where I'm from, but they look like they come in handy in a fight.

[knightofcourage]

They're very common in battle, so you're right about that. Not all of them are like mine, though. One of my friends also uses magic, which helps a lot when we've been fighting for a while.

[quisling]

[ Magic? Now there's a term he understands even if the context of using in in a fight takes him by surprise. ]

They use magic in the middle of battle?

[knightofcourage]

Yes, they do. My friend Marta specializes in support and light magic.

[quisling]

[ That sounds really impressive to him. ]

Light magic... sort of like magical flash grenades? Is your friend here too?

[ Considering how many friends he has here it wouldn't be surprising to him if she was. ]

[knightofcourage]

No, she isn't. But if you're really interested, I can introduce you to some of the other people I know who can use it.

[Which is...basically all the others from his world outside himself, come to think of it.]

[quisling]

[ A short nod. He doubts that he'll ever be able to learn something like that himself, but it sounds like it'd be an interesting sight. ]

If they wouldn't mind giving a demonstration sometime anyway.
