Here is a THIRD overflow log for the July 18th - 24th beach mission! Original log and setting information can be found here, the second overflow log is here, and OOC information can be found here. Continue to HARTY PARD.
Artemis was silent for a moment, before giving a slight shake of his head.
"It was as though I had never been here at all."
He looked distant for a moment. It did not sit well with him to consider that all of their time here, all of the interactions that may occur would ultimately mean nothing once they had returned to their respective worlds. He did not want to think that this was all pointless.
"I don't know if that is standard. I mean, in theory they could return us to any given moment in our respective timelines..."
He frowned. That was bad news, as far as he was concerned, and still, maybe that meant that if they didn't get sent back at the same time, Thassarian would return in time to still save him.
That was enough brooding on that- his sister would undoubtedly be upset if she knew he was dwelling on it, when there was so much more he could be doing.
"That's a bit complicated, actually," he replied, before shrugging. "I'm from Earth, I suppose. A different Earth. I guess that on the surface, it wouldn't look all that different from this Earth if you compared the centuries side-by-side. The place is just lousy with humans-- no offence-- and most of them are very much convinced that they're the dominant species on the planet. They're very reliant on their gadgets and whatnot, and have no idea that magic even exists. They tell horror stories about vampires, werewolves, witches, but at the end of the day they don't really believe that those things are real. Not until they find themselves alone in a dark alley with one, anyway."
He gave a dismissive gesture with his hand. "But that's the mortal realm. I'm not really from that plane of existence. I'm from the Otherworld." He paused, then added in explanation, "The land of the dead."
And he falls silent, listening to the rest, and then nods slightly after Artemis finishes. That's interesting, and different from what he had known. He always assumed that most went to the Light after they died. Shaman had different feelings, and so did some mages, he figured, but that was it, for the most part.
"Is that like the Light? Or...something different? Might be different from what I'm used to, but I'd like to hear, if you're willing to share."
"The Light?" If he hadn't shared a flat with Adrasteius, he wouldn't have quite understood what Thassarian was talking about. He gave a slight shake of his head. "No, I don't think so."
He let out a bit of a laugh. "There isn't much light there regardless of how you mean it. Not in our corner of the Otherworld, anyway."
He shrugged, then tilted his head a bit. "In the Unseelie Court, it's always winter. Daylight only lasts for a couple hours... not that time passes in a logical manner. Sometimes it seems like weeks pass before the sun rises. The Seelie Court is the opposite, of course, but my visits there have been few and far between."
He just nods. Always winter, he can kind of understand that.
"Well, then I suppose that being out here is a change."
He looks out over the sea again, at the other transports meandering by, and he smiles a bit.
"It's a nice change from Exsilium, as well. My homeland looks much the same as there, now."
When he went back, flying his skeletal gryphon high above the trees. He didn't carry the colors of the Alliance on him, and if he stayed away from the ruins of the Capitol, Deathknell, and Brill, he was largely left alone.
What was one more dead man among others, after all?
Sometimes, he wondered if he had made the right decision in going back to Stormwind and not to Lordaeron, his home.
[Yeah, the most "indecent" thing he's ever seen on a girl was his sister and her odd habit of wearing pants. So really, she may as well be naked right now.]
Regardless, if you're comparing that to underwear, THE NAME IMPLIES WHERE IT'S SUPPOSED TO GO!
I was looking for rocks like they told us to. I may not be fond of the Initiative, but I'm not going to ignore their requests for help, either.
[Elliot doesn't extend his hand to take it. He would appreciate it, really. He's just...Elliot.]
I don't need a hand out.
[...Nor does he need to mention that she's suddenly moving around a lot. Then again, the lack of focus in his eyes may give that one away.]
What about a hand up? Come on, if you make me come over there, there's going to be a lot of people displeased with the both of us!
( Which is to say she sets the canteen in front of her, guaging distance. If any of Elliot is in reach, she'll lean out and snag at him to tug him closer. )
The rocks are back the other way, silly! Have you been in the shade at all today?
A-Are you threatening me?! [Sadly, physical force is one of the few things that can actually get through to Elliot. He doesn't show any signs of intending to take it on his own power.]
Then why would they give us access to this part if there weren't any here?! And I was in the shade earlier! [Much earlier.]
( Going to grab on and tug you closer, mister! Though she does snort in amusement. )
I know a guy who knows a guy, if you're going to be that stubborn! But if you think I'm a threat like this, you are way worse off than I thought. As for that, it's called a bribe. If they make it pretty enough, we'll complain less, right? And stone isn't just in one place. They couldn't know how far out it'd go!
[Lottie kicked his ass, okay? He's not going to count her out just because she's a seemingly unarmed girl.]
I'm fine! And that means searching the entire area can't hurt!
[He starts to spin around to walk away, but right when he intends to stop moving it feels as though his head hasn't. The next thing he knows, his back makes contact with the ground.]
( It's like she hears the Scooby Doo YOINK in her head, gasp when Elliot finally goes down. Ahh! Boys!!! They were so criminally stubborn sometimes! )
Now you've done it! Man down, man down!
( She can't help herself: she has to laugh. )
Okay, hot-shot, no more options. I'm dragging your butt up and off to the water tent!
( She'll see about channeling like... Superwoman or something to do this, as she leans to the side, one hand gripping the handlebars, the other trying to grab hold of his collar. If she has to bodily drag him up, she will, asking him to work with her if he can, dealing with her own incapacity for certain types of support and the slowness that comes along with it otherwise.
It was annoying when she had to face certain creative limitations due to her own paraplegia, but she was never the sort to give up just because of a detail like that! )
( She says with a laugh, shifting grip to take Elliot from being merely toppled into the ATV to pulled bodily on top of it. )
Now hold on, Sir Flustered, because I got past asking nicely when you hit the ground!
( Plus it's extremely bizarre to be able to be helpful like this at all and she kind of likes the idea of the feeling. Of course, how well he's on the ATV, and how well he stays there when she starts the enginge again and they get moving -- uh. That remains to be seen! )
[ She snorts impatiently. Gods, was she this slow in the face of lessons like these? She likes to think not. ]
It's not that difficult.
[ She'd even already basically said it. A moment later one of her wingtips brushes against the invisible field, and she pulls a hard left to avoid crashing into it. She reaches out, trailing a claw along the inner wall of it, to get a feel for the size and scope — more for curiosity than anything else. ]
Hold on, I'm still thinking. [ And suddenly they're there at the wall, and he's not about to miss what'll probably be his one and only chance to see this thing up close. He shifts his weight when she pulls left, looping one arm to hold on while he reaches up with a gloved hand to brush the edge with his fingertips. ]
Don't be too impressed, I have a spell that would have similar results.
[ But... not over a range as wide as this one. She just doesn't like it when "wow"s aren't directed at her, alright. She slows to a hover next to the wall, and Robin might have to shift further up onto her neck as the rest of her body tilts away to accommodate the change in velocity. She scrapes one claw down the surface, thoughtfully. It really is pretty similar to her spell.
Well, that's enough of that. Curiosity sated, she murmurs a low word in a foreign language, and the two of them suddenly jump. They're instantly twenty feet forward, past the barrier, but at about the same altitude. Nonchalant, Khisanth resumes her forward flight. ]
Holy- [ He jerks as soon the perspective around them shifts, and for a second he's almost in danger of losing his balance while he grasps for an extra handhold on her neck. ]
[ Calmly, as if that weren't exactly the reaction she was hoping for: ] Magic. I could have done it from further away, but I wanted to be sure of where the barrier was.
Wise of you. [ He grins easily. ] Well, the beach alone is perfectly charming, if you're looking for alternatives. I've had a perfectly lovely day watching beautiful people duck in and out of the water from the comfort of dry sand!

As much as any place could be "home", anymore.
