A few hours passes after this decision is made. He stands in the snow, studies his map, and then rolls it away to frown at the cave ahead of him. He'd managed to get directions from Koltira, and still got lost on the way. Damn death knights, living in the most inconvenient places....
Bariyan mutters to himself as he stomps through the snow towards the cave entrance. He calls out early, to make his presence known -- in case neither his holiness nor his heartbeat have already done the job for him. ]
Seviilia! It's Bariyan Kozar.
no subject
Of course, that lead to actively thinking about it -- that Koltira had managed to instill a sort of fear in her that she couldn't shake. It made her angry. Enough to leave her pacing the length of her little cave, until she hears a familiar voice.
Familiar, but entirely unwelcome.]
What do you want, crusader?
[Oh, well, that was a bit unfriendlier than she meant it to be. She does not come to greet him, but if he steps inside, he will no doubt smell a bit of blood. The white wraps she wears are clearly stained with it, lazily washed out.]
no subject
[ Bariyan takes her acknowledgement of his existence as invitation to come inside, and does so quite cheerfully. At least the cave offers some cover from the wind and snow.
He comes to a stop as soon as he's within, though, to breathe in and note the iron tang on the air. He looks for Seviilia in the dim light, and at her stained wraps. Warning bells go off in his head. Still, he thinks, best not jump to conclusions.
He brightens up and shows no sign of any suspicion. ]
This is a nice cave you have here. Very homey.
no subject
[That's why he's here, right? Because he figured out what happened to Marduk. Not that she will out right accuse him and incriminate herself. She thought she did a decent job of scaring him into silence.
She turns to look at Bariyan and wipes the contempt from her expression.]
And why on Azeroth would you seek my company?
no subject
Why wouldn't I? I'm surprised there wasn't a queue at the door. [ A beat. ] At the cave mouth.
[ He moves further in, towards Sev, still investigating. Perhaps she's just been killing wildlife again. ]
no subject
Funny. Does Deathweaver send you to do his dirty work now?
[She doubts anyone is even keeping tabs on the mutineers now, but that wouldn't cause him to leave her be. When Bariyan breeches the invisible bubble of trustworthy space between them, Seviilia takes a step back.
Friendly or not, he is still a crusader.]
no subject
Ooh, was I that obvious? Yes, I'm in the employ of the Ebon Blade now. Your commander's too busy planting flowers to check in on you himself.
[ He stops moving about the cave. He's seen all that there is to see, he thinks, and none of it's helped clarify anything. ]
no subject
[She wants to break something of Bariyan's right about now, but she has already risked too much with Marduk. Her hands and shoulders quiver for just a moment before fists form and all movement halts.
Seviilia remains half turned.]
no subject
We can't help who we are, can we? You should know.
But no. I'm not here on Koltira's behalf, though he told me where you were. I am acting entirely of my own accord.
no subject
Good...
Her expression evens out, though it doesn't hint at anything particularly happy or calm -- just neutral, if not a bit searching. Ok, so maybe he was telling the truth. That still didn't answer the greater question, as he hadn't yet attempted to strike her down or...well, do anything else.]
I don't understand.
no subject
[ Some people really can't help who they are. ]
no subject
She stops bothering her attempts to hide her shoulder, and uninhibited, she will end up very close to him and his face. Her voice is a low growl.]
Are you mocking me?
no subject
I most assuredly am not. You've a lovely face, my lady.
[ His eyes settle on her shoulder, and his initial wariness floods back into the forefront of his mind. He takes a careful step to the side.
He highly doubts that any wild animal did that to Seviilia. ]
no subject
[What she would not tell him was that the statement he had made was mutually exclusive from the incident.
Still, she follows him like a hungry wolf. The anger melts to mirror her behavior, though the grin is obviously a bit forced.]
You came all the way here to compliment me, did you?
no subject
[ Bariyan spins to try and put his back to the cave entrance -- to get Sev out from between himself and the exit. He laughs, and holds out his hands. ]
Speaking of last time-- I took some of those furs from when we last met. Yetis, yes? Did you know they were sentient?
[ Bariyan hadn't. That'd been something he'd learned from the family he'd been boarding with, when he took the furs back. ]
no subject
Seviilia stops when he brings up the yetis, straightening and offering a small shrug of surrender.]
Looks as if you have caught me, crusader.

[She shrugs and flips her hair over her shoulder in the process.]
no subject
[ Then he nods to Seviilia's shoulder. ]
Did a yeti give you that?
no subject
[She looks past him briefly and then looks back to his eyes, staring just a little too hard.]
no subject
Perhaps not, but I'm concerned all the same. [ He cocks his head to the side. ] If something's hurt you, you should tell me! We all have to look out for one another, eh?
no subject
[She considers charging him to chase him away, but the last thing she needs is Koltira getting on her back for attacking the living again. She turns her back on him and moves to sit on a raised block of ice.]
It will heal.
no subject
But it hasn't, yet. [ Bariyan leans forwards, just slightly, rubbing his chin. ] Is that because it's grievous, or because it's fresh? Or possibly both?
no subject
Please. As if I would be crippled by such a small wound.
[She looks back down to her hands, focusing on opening and closing them.]
If you have something to insinuate, then simply say it, crusader.
no subject
No insinuations! I'd just like to know what you fought, is all.
[ All right, maybe one insinuation: he's not sure that anything but a transport could have injured Seviilia. Not unless she'd tried fighting a mammoth, maybe. ]
