❝ waiting somewhere for me. ❞
Date & Time: Late Evening, 10th February 3312.
Location: Unit 106.
Characters: Riku, Itachi Uchiha, and Gareas Elidd. (
curepotion,
neverbetold, and
garwithnobrakes)
Summary: Three new arrivals meet in their new living arrangements.
Warnings: None.
[ it wasn't too long after his arrival that Riku decided to just check into the small living arrangements he'd been told about--even if he had to stop at the bank first. closing the door behind him, he flicked the lights on, glancing around the apartment with a light tilt of his head, eyes narrowed.
... he was used to living in a big house. living in a small space wasn't a problem, but it was... different. He set his things down on a round table, walking about the apartment from the kitchen to the living room and into the three bedrooms. he picked the smallest one, figuring the others might need more space than he probably ever would, and moved his things inside. after turning on most of the lights in the apartment sans television and sans the lights in the individual bedrooms, he decided to check the pantries and drawers.
not much was inside the draws--masking tap, pens, things you'd usually find in a hotel drawer for someone's convenience. the kitchen held a bit more hope--there were packs of coffee and tea, a few cans, a pot and pan or two... obviously shopping was in order. at least most appliances were already there--toaster, coffee maker... his eyes fell on an electric kettle, and, reminded of the tea, got to making himself a cup. it'd be the easiest way to relax after a day.
who knew, maybe his roommates would show up afterward. ]

Already he knows that there is another within. That the lights are on merely confirms it. A roommate, instead of an intruder, he surmises, as the evidence of the unseen occupant speaks of no desire to hide.
Venturing further into the common areas, Itachi’s more interested in meeting his roommate than he is in claiming a room. He stops just outside the kitchen, peering inside at the other man. A simple greeting, he thinks, should suffice. ]
Good evening. I believe I’m to be your new roommate.

he glances up from his mug when Itachi speaks and he examines him cautiously. of all things, he hadn't... expected someone older than him, and he feels like smacking his forehead at the dumb thought that everyone would be his age in his room, when obviously, very few were his age when he'd been transported. not even stopping at that--there's a distinct hum that Riku picks up, one that he's not familiar with--so Itachi is powerful.
but polite, it seems. ]
I guess so.
[ he says quietly and sets down his mug. ]
Want tea?

A moment passes, not long enough to be considered impolite, before he glances toward the mug of tea. He nods. ]
I would, yes.
[ Stepping into the kitchen, he sets the few items in his hand down on the table and dips his head in a shallow bow of greeting. ]
My name is Itachi.
no subject
Nice meeting you. I'm Riku.
There's green tea or black. Does it matter?
[ he turns halfway to turn the kettle back on. ]
no subject
It doesn't matter. Whatever you're having will suffice.
[ Taking a step forward, he nods toward the cabinets. ]
Where might I find a cup?
no subject
there's a flicker of his eyes towards the cabinets--it's hard to tell one apart from the other when he's just got in a few minutes ago, but a few seconds pass before he points to the one on Itachi's right-hand side. ]
That one.
[ a pause. he figures, maybe it's okay to ask roommates this. he'll probably end up living with these people--he's sixteen, he can't see anyone approving of him getting an apartment. ]
What kind of world are you from?
no subject
By the time darkness begins to fall, though, he finally admits defeat and asks around -- learns about the existence of the residences, at least, and oh -- so that's what that key is for.
It takes some effort to resist the urge to get roaringly drunk before turning in for the night. Considering the run of his luck lately he'd say he's more than due for a good round, but considering where he is it isn't exactly the smartest thing to do.
It's not that long ago he would have flat-out not cared about that, either, but it's funny how much things can change in a day; less than a week.
He's tired, lucid but in pain thank you, bad mood settling into brooding by the time he bangs into the apartment without a single trace of subtlety. Three-person units, as if he hasn't been mocked enough by now--
It is actually roomier than he expected. Not surprising, planetside; but it's still something that gives him pause before he ventures further in, forgoing greetings for the moment to flop facedown on the first piece of remotely serviceable furniture he sees. Take a moment to settle, and maybe semi-appreciate the fact that there hasn't been a mobilization order despite, by all appearances, having been drafted into some weird land-based army.
Luckily for all parties, there's nobody else on the couch at the moment.]
[OOC: TIME SKIP MAYBE??? So I figured it should go in a separate thread. Just smack me if that doesn't work!]

though, when Gareas gets in, he's alarmed by the noise.
if that's Itachi, it's a break in the mood he's already set out by being quiet and thoughtful. so, maybe its their third roommate--he silently shifts out of the smallest bedroom and treads into the living area, coming up behind the sofa as he does so to look down at him.
hm. he rests his elbow on the back of the couch. ]
Welcome, I guess.
