"Eliminate the sorceress. That's our order."
Date & Time: Backdated to 11/19 (after this thread), mid-morning
Location: Initiative library
Characters: Squall Leonhart (
socialdisaster) and Rinoa Heartilly (
unlikelyrebel)
Summary: Squall has found out that Rinoa's a sorceress, and it's time they talk about it.
Warnings: n/a
[When morning rolls around, Squall's already up and out of the apartment, but only because he was been unable to get much sleep the night before. There were too many thoughts racing through his head to let him rest peacefully, and so he had given up; after leaving Rinoa a message to meet him at the Initiative library, he headed there himself. It's where he can be found now, seated at an old makeshift desk, chin propped up in his hand as he leafs through a random book he pulled from the shelves.]
(Hard to believe a crummy old place like this has a library. Might even be as good as Garden's.)
[The thought brings back a recent memory, one of the tour of Garden he gave to Rinoa, and the excited look on her face when they entered the library. With a sigh, he leans back in his chair, pinching the bridge of his nose.]
(What am I supposed to do? Fighting Sorceress Edea is one thing, but Rinoa...)

[She arrives only a little late, carrying with her a history book that she spent most of yesterday evening skimming over. Rinoa's not entirely sure what Squall wants, but since it's Squall it's probably something important. So she walks up to where he's sitting and then stops right in front of the desk.]
If this is the start of another tour, it probably would have been better to start at my apartment you know.

When did you become a sorceress?
[Straight to the point, but there's no harshness in his voice, only confusion. It's a start.]
no subject
You could at least say hi first you know.
[Rinoa puts her hands on her hips as she watches Squall intently. It's a great way to give herself time to process the fact that Squall hadn't known she was a sorceress until apparently she had to go and open her big mouth about it. This certainly isn't the way she would have wanted the big reveal to go. This also brings up a pressing fact that probably should have been addressed earlier.]
What's the last thing you remember? From back on our world I mean.

The last thing I remember is when Ellone left with the other SeeD group. Seifer said on the network that we were from different points in time, but I didn't believe him.
[Seeing that Seifer was right only adds another layer of bitterness to the whole situation, but he doesn't comment on that part.]
What happened?

That's the last thing you remember? [Seriously Squall, that's not really the sort of thing she wants to hear.] So you don't remember Garden crashing into Fisherman's Horizon, the trip to Trabia Garden, or when we beat Edea and freed her from Ultimecia's control?
[Rinoa checks each major event off on a finger, but since she spent most of her time after that in a coma she's not exactly the most helpful. Honestly, she's heard rumblings on the network about the time issue, but she hadn't thought it'd be this bad] or more accurately that it'd affect her. Heck, this meant Squall didn't even remember his childhood! That's some pretty big news.]

No. Ultimecia's control? Who's that?
[If he'd felt helpless after being attacked by NORG, it doesn't compare to what he's now feeling. He feels like he's ten steps behind with no clue where to go. It doesn't sit well with him, and it leaves him even more exhausted than before. He allows himself a moment of weakness to rub his eyes, which are slightly bloodshot and puffy. Definitely not his best look.]

[Just in case he got the wrong idea, because Rinoa seriously doesn't want to find herself on the wrong end of his gunblade. Hey wait a second...]
Are you okay? You don't look too good.
[Naturally this means she must invade his personal space to get a closer look. Rinoa takes a few steps forward before leaning in to examine his eyes more closely.]
You look beat, you know that?
no subject
I'm fine. [Trying to brush off her concern does him no good since she fusses over him anyway. He non-too-subtly leans away from her, and in the process he notices something familiar dangling from her neck.]
What are you doing with my rin-- [Wait. Looking down, he notices that his ring is still on his finger. What on earth...?]
Where did you get that?
no subject
Uh uh, you don't look fine. I've seen your fine, remember? And it looks nothing like this. [Nope, she's going to continue to fuss and badger about this, because if she doesn't worry about his wellbeing no one will. At least Squall won't anyway.]
That? Oh, you mean Griever? [She can't make this easy, she'd lose her saucy minx license.] A friend gave it to me, said I was supposed to hold onto it for him.
[Sketchy truth, but it is the truth. Zell is totally her friend and he totally gave her the ring. Of course if he mistakenly gets the wrong idea then that's totally okay in her books, really.]
