Bariyan had gone into the training facilities early in the morning, hoping that it'd be mostly empty. And he'd found it that way. But there still wasn't much that he could do with it, what with his magic only working on living things, so he'd left only after a couple hours and in a huff. Irritated at his own uselessness.

Now he has no idea what to do. He goes over his choices: no, he doesn't want to return to his room, and no, it is unlikely that anyone else is awake right now. He is stuck between exploring more of the Hold, or going outside and exploring more of the city.

Bariyan chooses the latter option. And instead of looking for an exit like a normal person, he goes to a window and starts to force it open. He's developed some bad habits here, with 'escaping out the nearest window' being one of them.

Odd she was, that much was true. It came with the territory of having lived in a country filled with supernatural creatures. Oh, and actually chatting to representatives of the afterlife.

"No, that'd not make much sense. That'd make things too easy, for one, it's just not the way it's done."

She was, indeed, not in a rush. Where would she go to? Wasn't much for her to do right now.

All right, Bariyan was starting to think that there was some culture shock settling in here.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I'm understanding this," he said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Why wouldn't you want it to be easy? If you, er, have a goal in mind, usually you'd want to achieve it as easily as possible...."

[peachhat]

It was about now that Tenshi started to notice the culture shock herself.

"No, no, you're thinking of this from the wrong angle. It depends on the specific goal. Of course, if the goal is strictly speaking winning the battle, then it might be different, but if you consider things like honor, or boredom, then you might want the enemy to be, well, doing it properly, right?"

She paused, adjusting her hat to give herself some time to think how to put this best. "Maybe this was what humans refer to as celestial advice being difficult to follow?"

Honor. Boredom.

"Ah," Bariyan said, eyes almost lighting up with understanding. "No, I see now. Your focus is upon the, er, experience."

But that was almost even stranger, in a way. Celestial or no, Tenshi still looked very young to Bariyan. Hardly the warrior type, whether of the honorable or bored variety. So he continued to stare at her. His puzzlement was close to becoming downright permanent.

"That's right." Tenshi said, nodding. Finally he got it. "Granted, it was a bit annoying to learn the way surface-dwellers hold their duels, but after a couple centuries I got the hang of it by watching. Wasn't too hard, really, even though I was the only celestial really doing something like that."

Technically, her abilities were pretty unfitting to the way most fought in her canon, but she had managed to adjust somewhat.

"And those help." She snapped her fingers, and a rock appeared in the air next to her, floating as if it was the most normal thing in the world, before starting to spin rapidly around its own axis and shooting down, burying itself in the ground like some sort of drilling machine.

Bariyan was startled by the sudden appearance of the rock, but the most that he showed of it was a quick turn of the head and a sharpened gaze as he watched it smash down into the ground.

Undead or not, Bariyan wasn't certain that he'd want to subject himself to anything like that. But it did allow him to segue into the actual question, now.

"I meant to ask you about those," he said. "I asked if you spoke to Kushina about crossing the water. I had too, but I've got no way of crossing. Would you mind if I borrowed a ride from you?"

[peachhat]

"Huh? Oh, no, actually I wouldn't, the question is if you would mind. After all, you'd have to stay somewhat close to me. Can't move your thing in the right direction if I can't see where you're going. Moving them isn't like those weird carriages humans use, there's no steering wheel or something like that."

She was actually rather happy to have someone depend on her for something, since it sure was something that didn't happen usually.

"I won't even ask for anything in return, aiding a mortal here and there is what celestials do. Sometimes."

[stonefaith]

"That shouldn't be a problem," Bariyan said. "We'll probably be traveling all together over the water anyway."

He hadn't even thought of having to pay for this favor, though. Which was perhaps presumptuous of him. He scratched his head and said, "I'm not sure what I would have had to give, anyway. But you have my thanks."

[peachhat]

"You could have gotten someone powerful angry at me, I suppose, but that's about it, true."

As Tenshi already had all she could ask for (time-killing excluded), there'd indeed not have been much she could have asked for. She had no use for money, after all.

"Anyway, I guess the redhead will fly on her own, right?"

It seemed reasonable to assume that Kushina could, based on Tenshi's experiences with people and their abilities. She didn't know that Kushina had different plans.

"Not fly," Bariyan said, shaking his head. "Er. She said she could walk across the water."

Which was quite honestly something that Bariyan would very much like to see, because he could not dispel his reservations about her capabilities. At the very least, it would still be a long distance to walk.

[peachhat]

"Oh. I heard about people like that, she's probably a ninja, then. I think flight makes more sense, though, but why not. People have their spleens."

Tenshi didn't doubt it, the stories about ninja running over water weren't unknown to her, and she didn't really see a reason to not believe them. People could do odder things.

...In her experience, which didn't mirror that of most people, alas.

Bariyan got caught up on the remark about spleens. He spent far too long trying to puzzle that one out and then, eventually, sighed and gave up.

"Sure," Bariyan said, vaguely. "Anyway. As far as I know, it's just the three of us right now. Now that I have a way to cross the water I'll speak to Kushina again. And then we should head out as soon as possible."

No real reason for that. Other than Bariyan was slowly starting to go insane from lack of anything to do.

"I agree." Tenshi said. "It'd do us good to find out more about the people outside this island."

She, too, was getting a bit bored with this place, and while she had gotten into some conflicts, something bigger was right along her line of interest.

"Feel free to call me when you go, there's not really much I need to take care off before we leave. Not here."

[stonefaith]

"I'll do so." Probably soon. Bariyan was going to go looking for Kushina right after this. He thought back over his schedule. There was one thing that he had to do, but then they could be off.

Nothing that concerned Tenshi or Kushina, though. He shook his head. "Where will I be able to find you? Er... or what is your room number?"

[peachhat]

"I'm in room 105, technically, but I'm not around there much, you'll usually see me flying through the air in some way, and I could also be around room 203."

She shrugged. "It's probably best to contact me by message, I think. Thankfully these devices are convenient for that."

[stonefaith]

105 and 203. Right. Bariyan tried to commit those to memory. But he supposed she was right, as much as Bariyan hated using the netbooks to communicate.

"Right. I will come looking for you soon, then," he said. "In a day or two." Bariyan still had matters to take care of before he left.

He looked back to the window and realized he was probably going to have to go back in if he was going to look for Kushina. He sighed, turned around, and opened it up again to hop back inside.

Tenshi nodded. "See you, then. I'll look forward to the little exploration tour~"
