Well shit
Who: CHETHLETXIA, QUEEN OF THE COUNTERPLANES (AKA Ionae) and whoever else's night she's about to ruin
What: General mayhem
When: Middle of the night after everyone got back to the future
Where: Initially near the apartments
Warnings: Chaos, Destruction, Violence, General Horribleness
Ionae, safely home and heavily tanned after her trip to the 1880s, went to bed that night. It had been a long day. What with the time travel and all, she'd arguably woken up over a thousand years ago.
At some point during the night, there was suddenly a sound of furniture and walls smashing from Ionae's room, followed by an inhuman roar that probably woke up half the building.
Outside was a...thing. More than anything else, it looked like a huge eel. It was easily fifty or sixty feet long, but it had arms, horns, and elaborate wings. Behind it was a ragged hole in the wall of the apartments that had once been Ionae's bedroom. The creature roared again, slammed into the side of a building, shattering windows, then slithered down the street, moving faster than a man could run.
In so much as anyone could read it's face, which was snarling and drooling acidic saliva from a mouth with way too many needle sharp teeth, it looked...more confused than anything else.

"You have more courage than sense, infant."
It seemed to be about to continue, but actually stopped, cocking its head to one side as if thinking.
"Ah, yes, I knew you as Ionae, didn't I?"

She holds up the sword in a guard position, and its aura shifts again - a keening noise can be heard just at the edge of human hearing and the edges of the blade seem to blur a little.
"And if you were Ionae, you've outgrown your room and your clothes. And taken up slaughter. That last one is not one I can let go unopposed." She smirks a little. "I've slain dragons. You don't look quite up to that standard."
...okay, so she slew dragons with a team of other adventurers, and it was very difficult, but sometimes all you have is bravado.

The demon's eyes flared with light, and multiple bolts of lightning struck from the heavens all around Meliantha, buffeting her with explosions.

And she takes a step forwards.
"Helm, support me, O Guardian, as I protect others," she says under her breath, a whispered prayer, and activates a bit of her panoply.
And she's no longer in front of what-was-Ionae, but next to it, and she thrusts Chainbreaker, still thrumming with the power of a howler, at the side of the creature.

She coughs, and it comes up foamy read. That was not a good sign.
Still.
And she starts to limp back towards the body, waving Chainbreaker, who is busy screaming into her mind that she is going to dieif she doesn't retreat...
And still she comes.

She focused her gaze on Meliantha like a laser. Literally, in this case. The adventurer could feel her armor start to actually melt. Once it finished melting, her comparatively frail body would no doubt go up like a candle.

And she's resistant to fire. But. Uh. Not THAT much. And she's mortally wounded as it stands. So it is the work of a moment for the flames to start engulfing her as her flesh ignites.
And she takes one more step, before collapsing face-first, black smoke rising from her body as she dies in fire....
...but even with a smile, because she knows she bought time for people to get out of the way.
I did not fail, she thinks, and dies.

Somewhere else in Exsilium, an older version of Meliantha appears, cursing her luck.]
