white-haired ppl club no wigs allowed
Date & Time: 1/23 close to evening
Location: up very high to start, and then...???
Characters: Jack Frost,Soldier Blue Blue-1
Summary: you know those things where Wile E. Coyote runs off a cliff and then stops running and stands there for like 3 seconds and then looks down and then looks at the camera and then plummets??
Warnings: ¯\(°_o)/¯
Soldier Blue veered past a taller building, then up to clear them all, seeking out the notions and reverb of familiar hearts. Within the same breath, Blue-1 had somehow flailed free of his restraints and launched himself away from the machine.
His tumble from the exam table to the floor had become quite far. Nothing but cold, empty air, no supports, no sounds but blasting wind tearing all bearing from the boy's mind. Had he not been suddenly falling from some unknown height, he might have been more amazed the pain – and the equipment that had been causing it – had vanished. The laboratory, too, but first things first.
He was falling very far and very fast, and even registering that seemed near impossible. He did what most people would do: He screamed in blind panic. Unlike the rest, though, his scream was not restricted to sound alone, but pierced through nearby (and growing nearer) minds open and unguarded to psychic noise. Glowing the color he was named for, he twisted and flailed, unable to think a thought sharp enough to make himself stop.
I'm going to die!

Other...people...
Blue grimaced, dragging the back of his hand across his forehead. There were other people around: he could...hear them? Hear? Feel? How was he supposed to describe it, other than not normal?
"I don't think," he uttered, his knuckles dragging past the corner of his eye, "I can do anything good here. But I don't want to go back." He winced. "But I should...I mean, if the others can't get taken away on their own."
no subject
He felt that way himself, in fact. He was just one Guardian and he had no idea what good he could be, but he tried his best nonetheless. Giving people a little snow fun every now and then was the least he could do. In a dreary place like this, he thought it was much needed anyway.
As for the not wanting to go back ... that's not something he could really relate to, because he did want to go back. Although at the same time it was a very conflicted feeling because here in Exsilium, people could actually see him regardless of belief and that was something he'd never had before. It would be a hard thing to give up.
"Well, there's nothing you can really do to go back. Unless maybe you're good with machines and you can help them fix it."
no subject
Something he could do...wasn't something he had to do. And, if Jack were right, fighting was something he could do, too. But not if he didn't want to. And after all the screaming and pain shot through him from the minds of other children, he was already sick to death of having to fight back. It'd be much better to avoid all that, if given the choice, right?
Unless that was the wrong thing to do. He didn't know. Trying to think on it just made him realize how exhausted he was.
"I can't do that," he said in a bit of a mumble – an afterthought, realizing he'd drifted from the moment at-hand. He blinked, then refocused on Jack. "I wouldn't know."

He smiled reassuringly when Blue's attention snapped back to him and he shrugged.
"That's fine, nobody does and they've brought in quite a lot of people."
Which actually was kind of surprising when one considered how many different kinds of people all from different worlds they had brought in. You'd think at least one among them would know. Jack didn't get to dwell on that, however. He caught something from the corner of his eye that made him rise to his feet. He held up his finger in a gesture for Blue to hold on a second before he flew off.
Luckily he doesn't stay away long and he's has returned within a minute, holding a blanket that he proceeds to drape over Blue. "There. Now, is there anything you want?"
no subject
Blue bit on the word, leaning toward the edge of his seat, watching Jack vanish. He felt a twinge of fear, fear of being left alone. Not utterly alone, however; for as far as Jack went, it wasn't so far as to be lost to his strangest sense. It was...reassuring, at least, to know he could track him down if he needed to. Not that he needed to; he relaxed a little, seeing Jack return, another question forming but not quite getting voice.
It was a simple, kind gesture, but Blue looked bewildered, shrinking under the blanket as if it were heavier than it really was. He stared, watching Jack move, listening, not entirely understanding right away.
He had no idea what to say.
"I, uhh–" He swallowed, feeling his throat grow tight once again. He dropped his head, pressing his eyes against his wrist and forearm. "I don't know, I...I don't know. Sorry."
no subject
He adjusted the blanket a bit to cover Blue better, dropping back into a crouch as he did so, while he considered what course of action to take. Keeping Blue calm and making him feel more at ease was obviously the priority here, but then what? He couldn't be left alone here, that was certain. Perhaps, if Blue already had a room here, his roommates would know more.
He hummed thoughtfully, briefly glancing around the lobby to look for anything helpful, before focusing back on Blue and the topic at hand.
"How about something warm to drink?"
no subject
Blue let out a ragged breath, feeling that heavy wave of emotion ease off and give his voice back. He still needed to swallow to really shake it off, glancing off to a side, finding it hard to look the kindness before him directly in the eye. Doing so would no doubt cause him to feel overwhelmed once more.
"If you think so," he uttered. "I mean...I don't know what else to do, so that's fine."
no subject
And off he went again.
This time Jack's search took a little longer, but he did find someone to ask and that made it a lot easier. Once he obtained the things he wanted, he returned, grinning brightly as he held out a cup of hot chocolate and a napkin filled with chocolate chip cookies for Blue to take. That was a surefire way to make any kid feel at least a little better, right?
"Careful, it's still hot." He nodded to the cup to indicate it.

It seemed he wasn't the only one confused or lost, if those fleeting thoughts were anything to go by...
He burrowed a little further into the blanket, fidgeting to comfortably squeeze his hands over his ears, as though that would somehow dampen the noise. The more he wanted to shut it out, however, the more precisely he seemed to hear it. He barely realized Jack was there without the smell of chocolate wafting over.
"Thank you," he murmured, uncurling himself enough to reach for the drink, hesitating with a little hiss of surprise at the heat. A "sorry" was mumbled somewhere along the way, drawing the cup toward himself, blinking against the steam rising at his face.
"Um..." He looked up at Jack, unsure. "What is this?"
no subject
He blinked owlishly and then brightened again as he spoke.
"You've never had hot chocolate before? Man, you've been missing out. Just try it, you'll see." To save Blue some waiting, he very briefly touched the mug with his pinkie to cool it down slightly before looking at him expectantly.
no subject
He did as told, instead.
"Oh–" Blue sat up, surprised, barely getting through a sip. He hadn't had very many sweet things – it was strange. But...
"It's...good." Good was a poor descriptor, but the only thing that came to mind quick enough to say. "It's different." But good.
no subject
It was rather sad that apparently Blue had never tasted something similar before, but well. That was something Jack was rectifying right now. He finally moved to take a seat next to Blue, putting the staff down next to him and the cookies on the edge of the seat within easy reach for Blue before gesturing at them.
"You should try those, they go great with hot chocolate."
no subject
His grip shifted, too, freeing up one hand to do as suggested, picking up one of the cookies and giving Jack a careful look before taking a small bite.
Again, sugar in his mouth, hardly what he anticipated. He looked only half as surprised as he felt, though, but the thought left him as free as any sound.
This is weird!
It was weird. Not just the cookie. The whole circumstance surrounding it – surrounding Jack, surrounding him. Weird...
But the taste in his mouth was, at least, a good weird.

He smiled before resting his chin on his hands, head tilted in such a way he was still looking at Blue.
"It's called sweet. There's many things around here that taste sweet."
