open log » ❝ mission oo1 briefing ❞
Date & Time: 04.04.3312
Location: Training Gymnasium in the Initiative Hold.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: Everyone is summoned to a briefing and training, pre-mission for the very first mission.
Warnings: None.
There would come a demanding ping on every netbook at once. An urgent call to arms, a request for each and every transport to return to the Initiative Hold immediately. If ignored, the ping would continue until it reached its full volume -- overtaking the senses only until its owner complied, deafening in its insistence. At the Hold, there were several more Initiative attendees to rush each and every transport into a large training gymnasium previously unseen by all residents of the island of Exsilium. The auditorium was massive -- its walls whitewashed, its ceiling patterned with dim, purple ambient lighting.
There was a stage set up near the very back of the large room. A man, stern and young-looking, stood in the center of the stage and held a microphone in front of his pursed lips. Behind the stage was a set of time travel plates more populated than even the arrival room -- there had to be at least forty-five plates, all attended by a member of the Initiative, who stood beside the plate in wait and with a distant expression. Only once all of the transports were successfully congregated into their auditorium, did the astringent, black-haired man begin to speak. "This is a briefing," he began, his voice equally authoritative and matching the expression of great urgency on his angular features. "Tomorrow, we begin our very first mission. A mission into the past.
You will be sent to the year 115 CE, in the midst of a turmoil between the Romans and an Assyrian village. It is in both ours and imperatively your own best interest to help defend this village, and to send the Romans retreating to their own homes. You absolutely must comply with this mission. Not only for yourselves, but for your families at home in their own worlds. For all of us.
You will have twenty-four hours from this time to utilise this gymnasium. You will find an array of weaponry at your disposal, and will have access to your own chosen weapon. Use them. Train fiercely, as you have no choice in this initial mission to pick a different path. You all must fight. After your twenty-four hours of practise, you will be given your cloaking devices -- they will make you untraceable to the native people to the time in which you find yourself. Do not, under any circumstances, remove your cloaking device. It will not only be detrimental to you, but to your friends and your colleagues here, as well as your friends and family in their home worlds.
You will be summoned back from whatever your whereabouts at the success of your mission. Should you die during your mission, you will be summoned immediately and brought into the Initiative Infirmary and you will be healed. Do not die. Do not turn your back on your colleagues and your friends. Remain vigilant. The imperative nature of the success of your mission will be made clear upon your return to this world. There is nothing more that we can give than our word.
Finally, I will be coming with you. I will be your mentor and your guide during our mission and I will do my utmost to keep you safe, prepared, trained and informed. Slowly, our world here in Exsilium will become less and less enshrouded in mystery. Slowly, we are able to reveal our true selves, and with it we hope we will gain a much-needed trust. We do not withhold information easily, and it comes to us at a great cost. Thank you, everyone, and let your sessions begin!"

I don't need to make any kind a' decision accordin' to your schedule cause wwhy should I? You're only talkin' to me right noww cause a' this anywway.
It's all just a' case a' 'Oh I need to knoww if Eridan's on my side cause there's little any a' the others could really do to stop him, an' the one wwho might be able to has made it clear he's sidin' wwith the empress'.
So y'knoww I don't think I'm gonna rush my decision any time soon. I'm not sure if puttin' myself out there for you is evven wworth it.
So you'll get your answwer wwhen I'm good an' ready, you got that?
[Yeah, you know that aforementioned scene amidst the crowd of people here? He's totally making it now.]

It's not a hard decision, and not one we have the time to thinking on forever. But I think you've already made up your mind. You know you have. I'm sorry but I think I have to leave now.
/no appropriate icons SURPRISE SURPRISE...............
[His tone of voice just completely loses it's aggression as he takes a few steps forward, reaching out to grab her wrist.]
Hold on, I nevver fuckin' said...I mean...for fucks sake Fef, wwill you calm dowwn, I'm not...you're completely ovverreactin' here!
[Smooth Ampora. Real smooth.]
no subject
Overreacting? Because I thought I could trust you of all trolls to be on my side against my ancestor who wants to murder me? Because I thought for a second that maybe, just maybe you had a scrap of dignity or compassion to your name?
[ She yanks her wrist away abruptly. ]
Go. Be her little lapdog, I really just can't care anymore. Abandon your friends just like you wanted to abandon us back then.
[ ...hey. Fishy princesses can be dramatic too. ]

For him it wasn't that long ago, and the feeling that she was still sure he'd take her side over the empress, for a moment, felt great. It made everything else hurt a lot more than it would've, had she not said it.]

Sure he'd spent a lot of the time itself making unwanted advances, but he gave most of the trolls and some of the humans a chance in the sense that had any of them put up with them, he would've stuck with them. He felt some form of companionship with Karkat and Kanaya, but the latter wasn't here and Karkat's interactions with him here just angered him.
He grows noticeably angrier as he considers all of this; it's unreasonable and unwarranted, but in his mind he's just that one guy noone wanted anything to do with. He really should just calm down and tell her he has no intention of running off to the empress to tell her, but he's too caught up in his own emotions to even consider that. His erratic and uncontrollable emotions.]
Friends? FRIENDS? Is that a fuckin' joke or somethin'? The closest fuckin' thing I had to a friend before this wwas...no, you knoww wwhat? I didn't havve anythin'. Noone wwanted anythin' to do wwith me. They avvoided me an' made it seem like I wwas constantly some kind a fuckin' burden to be around.
I'd no good reason to stay on that fuckin' meteor an' you knoww it. In fact, you should knoww it cause as far as I remember you're one a' the first wwho wwanted absolutely nothin' to do wwith me evver since that game started. Moment your lusus died you didn't need me around anymore to feed her, wwas that it? The wwhole thing wwas a fuckin' sham in the beginnin' an' I wwas some kind a' fool for not seein' it in the first place.
So don't you start judgin' me on abandonin' friends, princess, wwhen you're guilty a' that yourself!

Nobody abandoned you, you pushed everyone away! It's all you ever do, you push and you push and you push and then you wonder why no one wants anything to do with you. I mean, you're doing it right now! You had a chance, right now, to prove that I should even bother giving you the time of day but you didn't want to have to choose a side, because you're just a greedy little self-serving coward, and that's why I left you. Because it was never about us, just about you, and you never wanted help, and you never will, you just want attention, and I just can't do it anymore!
[ Venting it all out calms her a bit, at least so she can drop her voice. Her shoulders hunch a little, and as the rage filters out of her, she just looks... tired. Very tired. Moreso than anyone her age ever should. ]
Do what you will. I had hoped you still had some decency left, but... well. You destroyed that. Just like everything else. Now all I can hope for it that you're happy with this.
no subject
Now to deny everything! Except...he can't. So instead he'll just ignore all of it.]
Then I guess that's it then.
Wwe got nothin' more to discuss.
