Meliantha begins on the attack, slowly, to observe Blaine's methods. Her style is based mostly around curving strikes, using one hand or the other as fulcrums to bring in ends of the staff, but also with defense, twisting it around to catch. As she gets better with seeing how he does things, she alters her method to counter his, and counter-attack, learning what he does.

She also tries her version of the sweep at the feet on him, as well, to see his reaction.
