Just keep spinning, just keep spinning--
Date & Time: February 6th-ish [Backdated for great justice]
Location: The Hold Gym/Work-out-atorium
Characters: Blaine Thorps + ERRYBODEH
Summary: He's practicing with his staff. Come bug and distract him.
Warnings: Eh, Blaine potentially flirting? Nah, I got nothin'.
The first few days after the last mission had been the worst. The information he got from his older self was kind of shocking, but he really didn't know where the dark cloud that had loomed over him for days had come from. No matter how hard he tried to sweat it out he couldn't get the events off his mind. Now the unintentional sequestering was over.
Blaine felt a little bit lighter and he could push aside the somewhat foreign thoughts and memories and get outside. Well, outside of his room anyway. He found a spot along the edge of the floor to himself and pulled out the flashlight sized rod out of his pocket. He twisted it and pushed a button and it extended out to its full size, a little shorter than his 6'2" height. He spun it once or twice before he went slowly through a practice form by himself to warm up. Once done, he looked around and spotted someone who looked like they might want a partner.
He gave a half smile, "You wanna spar?"

He looks over at the other man when he speaks. "Unless you're into boxing, there's not much I can do."
He didn't have much experience in fighting, save for boxing.

"Boxing, huh? Not my forte, but it'll be a good warm-up." As long as Harvey doesn't knock him out. "You been here long?"
no subject
"No, not at all. I think it's been a week now. You?"

She eyes Blaine thoughtfully as the memory of him slowly resurfaces, heading nearer. ]
I don't think you would survive a spar with me.

[ But nonetheless, she moves nearer to a wall of provided basic weapons, looking over it thoughtfully. It could be a good chance to practice her magic... ]

stealingborrowing one of Ikki's plain t-shirts, she'd headed out toward the gym-- just for some basic a-t drills, something to help settle her thoughts.Of course, her initial plan versus actually doing it had been two different things, as she'd sort of idly looked around the place until she was spoken to.]
I'm afraid I'm not very good at anything hand-to-hand.

[Sometimes it was just nice to have company, even if you weren't talking.]

"If you don't mind me being a little slow. Recovering from some injuries, still."

He just needed to ease himself back into fighting others before he dived headlong into hours of practice. He already knew his hands and the webbing between his thumb and index finger were going to be painful. Even after practice by himself the impact of weapons was on another level.

"Blunting it for practice," she explains, then goes into a guard position and starts to circle around Blaine. "It would be deeply improper to cut you in practice."
The blade is, we note, about two-thirds her height, and as she's five foot eight, that's a heck of a piece of metal. She's slower and weaker than usual, still recovering, but she still moves it around as if it were about half its size.

Decided to join the real world? [The tone isn't really mocking. He knows how Blaine took his older self's news.]
no subject
[Yep, deny, deny, deny.] How many did you run today?
no subject
[He says, still a little winded. He eyes the staff.]
I didn't know you could use one of those.

"If you sparred with me, I'd be so bad you'll feel yourself getting worse."
He carried his weapon, and he also had a book on spear-fighting in his bag, but he's not so sure about sparring against other people just yet. Honestly he was thinking that he might as well start out with something like pushups or sit ups or running just to get his body into better shape.

Blaine was far from an expert himself, having not done it for years. It was coming back to him fast though, which was nice. Thank you muscle memory.

She was focused on the latter for now, wearing the spare set of leather rogue armor she'd brought from home. Her blades were out in flashing arcs of silver, her body moving as if dancing through the various steps of a fighting form. She stepped and swung, legs steady even as she spun and decapitated an imaginary foe. Soon, she promised herself, she would try out the VR program again. And she would use it to its full extent.
Blaine's voice caught her attention and she turned to look back at him, surprised he was even there. What time was it? How long had she been working? She brushed some of her hair back behind her ear, glad she'd remembered to tie it back that day. Her gaze slid to his weapon and she raised an eyebrow. "With what? Are you certain?"

He took in a breath and mentally shook off those thoughts of the darker parts of home. He didn't want to think about home at all right now, so he put on his smile and interrupted the twirling blades before Elissa could suddenly become aware of him. Her look was incredulous and her question perhaps even more so after her surprise waned.
Blaine let his smile inch a bit wider. "I can't spar with a gun, unless you want me to use rubber bullets?" He shifted his weight off his staff and let his fingers trail down to the center of it and gently spun it halfway around. "Spare a little time to give me a good smiting. I'll consider it bonding time."
