( OPEN ) i'm sinking fast into the sea

Date & Time: All week!
Location: Music room, training facility.
Characters: Sayaka Miki/[personal profile] fortissimos & OPEN.
Summary: Blue loser blows things up and gets in the way of people. So, the usual.
Warnings: Suffering?? actually there might not be a lot of that this time SHOCKING.

a. ( training facility. )

[ Good mood or not, she never once stops pushing herself to the limit when it comes to training. Visitors might notice a tiny blue magical girl launching a pair of blades into one of the training dummies — they embed themselves deeply into the straw, only to explode a few seconds later.

The attack might have been a success, but Sayaka just looks frustrated. She looks around for anyone close enough to enlist, then calls out from her spot; mostly-destroyed dummy still smouldering behind her. ]

Uh, hey! You wanna give me a hand? [ She rubs the back of her head, inserting a fresh magazine into one of the (now bladeless) hilts. ] These things are okay, but... I need some practice defending, too.

b. ( music room. )

[ From the moment Sayaka realized the music room existed, it quickly became one of her regular haunts. For the most part, she stays out of the way; pouring over a book on music theory or quietly listening to those who can actually play.

Today is no different... except for the fact she's really, really tired after training. She's already smothering a yawn by the time she shows up, and after a few minutes, promptly passes out with a book on romantic era music over her face. At the very least, she's off to the side... until she also starts snoring, loud enough to disturb anyone else trying to play or read. ]

Ah, well, I...

[He follows her gaze to the still-smoking dummy and is silent for a moment -- with that level of destructive ability, it's no wonder she's getting tired of the dummies. She's such a small girl, he'd automatically been about to refuse regardless, but he does stop to think about it.

He's relatively confident in his control, even if he's still not sure how much he can push himself here -- in fact his powers are probably ideal for the type of practice she wants. He's a walking cannon fodder factory, after all.

And with the variety of skillsets here (so to speak), the Blade Wing Worms are less likely to be frowned upon. Still...]

... If you're all right with these.

[There's some strange squishy, crackling noises from the darkness behind him, before two large insects that look like they're made mostly of bone and demon eyes emerge from the darkness, hovering just above his shoulder. He keeps them mostly to the darkness, to avoid startling the others training here.]

shoot me if I use darkness that much in one bracket again ahahaha

[The usual reaction is one of two: indifference, because the other party has already seen much worse things, or rejection, where they haven't and are unwilling to deal with the insects. It's no surprise when the girl seems about to pick the latter, but...

He feels bad about it, of course -- banking on the fact that she'll refuse, that she's acquainted enough with the supernatural not to kick up a real fuss, that he can leave with only a somewhat negative impression either way. She's trying, though, and that more than anything makes him hesitate. He wants to ask her again if she's sure.]

Yes, it's a good thing.

[It's not an agreement; he doesn't agree with any of her reasonings. It's a concession.]

There's no need to thank me. You should tell me your name, though.

[Really, if he's going to be throwing giant bugs at a small girl, they should observe the common courtesies.]

Kariya. I'll do what I can.

[Even if he does hold back, it's at least partly for his own sake: even in the Holy Grail War, he wouldn't have had the stomach to attack children -- including the youngest Master in their midst. He's always walking that tightrope between the pits on either side, monstrosity and despair: there are some things he can't loosen his hold on if he's to keep his balance.

Some small part of him takes note of that last bit: 'it'll just heal'. There's a hunch he has, but that can wait for later -- he'd just like to get this over with.

An almost lazy gesture of his hand, and the Worms spread out and launch their attack from either side; to compensate for the meagerness of their numbers they spread their wings wider, hiss louder and certainly move with something like the speed of bullets; much too quick for things so unwieldy-looking.

(Of course, they aren't quite aiming for the girl. Blade Wing Worms, like their counterparts, are manifestations of pure instinct and thus difficult to finely control -- it's easier to tell them 'kill' instead of 'attack without killing', much easier to say 'devour' instead of 'aim for'. Their bloodthirst is focused on the dummy behind her.)]

Yes. I'm... a magus.

[For just a split-second there, he almost said 'wizard'. The Dan is rubbing off on him...

The Worms quiver as they track her movement, even if their focus is still on the dummy itself -- they dive again, from different angles, though still mostly a frontal attack.

... You might have picked the magus who's really fail at strategizing with his familiars.....

Granted, Kariya is watching carefully; not just to see that the girl doesn't get hurt, but also what else he can do with the Worms. This is actually his first time using them against anyone else, and they hadn't exactly come with a manual.]
