Date & Time: A day after this.
Location: Everywhere?
Characters: Lacus Clyne and Kira Yamato
Summary: Kira and Lacus are from different timelines because of this Kira often worries about Lacus and if he was ever making her uncomfortable. He asked her on a date to grow closer to her despite her not remembering many of the things they've been through between their timelines.
Warnings: N/A
Kira woke up to the sound of his alarm. Drowsily, he reached out and turned it off before he woke up his roomate. He glanced at his alarm clock to check the time and realized that he had only two hours of sleep again. However, he had promised to pick Lacus up in another two hours, so he had no choice.
The robotic leg he was working on had kept him up more than half the night again. He had a terrible habit of forgetting the time when he was working. It made him feel a little bad especially when his sister and girlfriend already told him to take better care of himself. However, he knew that if he lets his tiredness get to him it's only going to worry the others. He did manage to feel a little better after taking a bath and two cups of coffee.
Just a little.
Sometimes, he really had to thank his Coordinator genes. It was probably the only thing that was keeping him up at the moment. A Natural would have probably passed out already.
With a few minutes to spare, he was in front of the room occupied by Lacus, Cagalli and Sheryl. After one last yawn, he knocked on their door. All he could do now was hope against hope that none of them would notice.

"There you are. And right on time, Kira!" she gave a small smile as she greeted him, giving him a quick once-over after their earlier conversation. She knew he got rather distracted once he started on something, but even so she did worry from time to time about him and Athrun. The fact he had admitted to forgetting to eat didn't really do anything to ease her concern, even if Cagalli had brought him something to eat later. She didn't say anything right away though, briefly pursing her lips for a moment before slipping back into a smile.
"I'll just get my card and we can head off." Because, of course she needed money, just in case they ate while out or she saw something else she wanted to buy.

While he waited, he thought about what to do or where they should go. Except for the promise to look around to help Lacus find a job, he really had no plans. He had been too busy with the project to remember to figure out his plans.
Back home, he never really had to do anything like this. They were always together because they lived in the same home and it was enough.
Looking back, he remembered that their relationship had been much slower in progress and more gradual. He couldn't even remember when he really began to develop deeper feelings for her.
Shaking his head, he muttered to himself about over-thinking this again. At the moment, he really didn't know if he was doing the right thing. He didn't ... want her to feel forced to feel something for him. He was the older one, he should know better.
He wondered now ... if it was wrong of him to try a little harder now. Or would it be much better to just let this happen?

She had been a little anxious since their conversation after the fireworks, but mostly because she didn't want to make him uncomfortable when he admitted to being unsure how to act around her. Regardless of what developments lay ahead in their relationship, Kira was still Kira, in the end. Lacus hoped he was not too worried or nervous about taking her out today, at least.

Still the same Kira.
He smiled. "That was quick," He lightly teased her, pushing his thoughts back for a while. Determined to attend to what needed to be attended now. "Don't worry. I didn't forget anything. We should go." He was about to put an arm around her waist, but stopped in the middle of doing so. Instead, he offered a hand to her and giving her the choice whether to accept it or not. "So ... we don't get separated."
no subject
That simple act was enough, more than enough reassurance to her. It was something almost instinctive, to reach out and take his hand when he offered his to her. Lacus was easy to please in that regard, and her expression softened a little as she looked to him.
"Right. Let's head out then. Was there anywhere in particular you wanted to go, Kira? I know you've been working on a little project, did you need anything for it?" she asked as she shut the door behind her, having left a note for Cagalli and Sheryl in case they wondered where she had gone.
no subject
"I don't think I need anything yet. I got most of the parts I needed from people who offered." And he got a lot more than he needed, but it was really appreciated. Besides, he might be --- dense at times, but he didn't think it would be a good idea to bring a girl to a garage. Though, Lacus in the future had taken a bit of interest in his work when he was fixing Haro. "If you don't mind ... maybe I can take a quick look later."
As they began walking outside, he became really quiet since he had no idea where to go first. Lacus did like shopping and going into shops back home. That could be a start. "I heard there were some interesting shops here. Maybe yo'd like a quick look at those first?"
no subject
"That sounds fine. We can have a look at the shops and keep an eye out for work while we look around and then go to see if there is anything you need for your project!" Lacus felt it was only fair if she might take Kira to some shops he didn't much care for that she went with him later anyway, so it sounded like a good plan to start with as they made their way outside.

This world was not like the busy and industrialized city of Heliopolis or Orb that was never lacking in anything you wanted, but this world was still at the very least adequate in resources. "Where do you want to look around first?"
no subject
"Hm, well I was thinking of checking the clothes shops, at least for a coat for the rain, and an umbrella." It was a start, at least. And certainly practical, given the weather tended to be rather dreary and the rain seemingly almost constant. Perhaps later when she had a job she could consider getting other more materialistic items, but for now she wanted to prioritise more practical purchases and necessities.

He'll take care of it himself later.
Kira nods and smiles, "Mnm, that sounds like a good idea." He squeezed her hand and began walking. "Let's go?" He kept his pace slow so that Lacus will have enough time to look around at her leisure for a store she was interested in.
no subject
"Do you think that one might have some coats?" she asked, eyeing one of the clothes shops they came across and pausing to point to it with her other hand carrying Pink. She couldn't be entirely sure if Kira might need one as well, and this one seemed to look like it catered to both genders, at least. She wouldn't be surprised if he had been too distracted with his work and projects to think of getting such things for himself, knowing him.

Acting the part of the gentleman, he opens the door for her and waited for her to enter first before following her inside. What greeted them was racks of clothing that catered to both male and female. Kira stood quietly behind Lacus as he looked around. He didn't know much about style, but it looked like a good start.
no subject
"Kira, what do you think? This blue one might fit you if you wanted to try it on."
She turned and held out the blue one to show him, the purple one hanging from her other arm. If Kira was going to be out and about a lot, it would be best for him to have a coat in this weather, after all, even if he had a strong immune system from being a coordinator and was thus not as likely to get sick.
no subject
Maybe he had really been thinking too much. No matter how different their time was --- in the end this was still the Lacus he knew. Probably for the first time since he had began worrying about their age difference, he was able to act like his old self.
Kira really was worrying about nothing.
He found himself chuckling and nodded. He tried on the coat and found it to be just the right fit. And if he had a sense of style at all, this would probably be it. "It fits I suppose. What do you think?"
no subject
Glad that they seemed to have sorted something out for Kira, she tried on the purple coat over her dress, putting Pink down momentarily so she didn't have her hands full. It seemed to fit well enough, perhaps slightly big but it wasn't too baggy as to look too huge.
"Well, I think this one should be fine, if a little big. What do you think? It even has pockets, so Haro can fit in there!"
no subject
Kira answered her in the usual Kira fashion, "It looks good." Because anything looked good on Lacus.
The rest of the date was really pretty much a blur, but though he was quiet most of the time and had a few awkward moments with Lacus. Over the years, Kira had never learned how to complement a girl. His monotone and unhelpful responses clearly upsets Lacus.
All in all, it was an enjoyable event ... and he also managed to canvass some parts that he might need in the future. So Kira considered this little outing a success and he was now taking her back to her place. "I had a good time. Did you?"
no subject
"I did. And I'm glad we were able to get everything, even your parts!"
no subject
Kira walked with her until they reached her door. It seemed that it was now the end of their date. After this, he really had to go back to work on his projects. Once they were in front of her door, he paused there and reached for her hand.
"I really did have a good time," Kira told her. "Before you go in, there is something ... I would like to ask. I want you to know that if you aren't comfortable with it yet, you can tell me." He squeezes her hand in a comforting manner. Kira was a gentleman and he will take this as slow as she wanted. "May I kiss you?"

When he pulls up, he smiles a more playful smile this time. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
no subject
"Sure, Kira. I'll look forward to it, and let you get back to your projects." she replied, checking she had her bags and Haro before giving him a smile and wave farewell.
