[closed] So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road

Date & Time: forward dated: Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th March
Location: a fair way into the Outlands
Characters:
Asami Sato [personal profile] chittybang, Cedric Diggory [personal profile] theboywhodied, Collette [personal profile] whatsupcroc, Ellie Linton [personal profile] reconnaissance, Fi Maxwell [personal profile] burnsinvisibly, Katniss Everdeen [personal profile] accidentalrebellion, Mitsuki Ishikawa [personal profile] drowns, Peter Parker [personal profile] arachnoid, Steph Brown [personal profile] controlledvariable
Summary: Nine teenagers with varying degrees of trauma decide to go camping.
(Actually, eight teenagers get bullied into going camping by Ellie.)
Warnings: Not sure yet; I'll add them as they come up. At the very least some language, and fallout from PTSD.

Ellie had found the place once before on her wandering into the Outlands; a dilapidated old barn, with stone walls and a roof that was, by some miracle, completely intact despite all the evidence of nature clambering up its walls and trying to reclaim it for the land. There's a hill leading down to it, and if you follow that hill down, you meet the woods, a big lake. It's beautiful, she thinks. Nowhere near so wild as Hell, but that was better.

Finding that place had been how it started, before thinking about getting some of the others together had kicked in. A way to unwind, after the body swap. At the very least a chance to get some decent people all together in the same place (and maybe a way to apologise to Asami for pointing a gun at her that one time).

OOC: Party style, adventures everyone.Just go wild, if you want it to be set at a particular time, maybe specify in the subject line? I'm doing some starters just... in case that helps but do whatever you like tbh. YEAH. There's also the ooc plotting post so chuck folks in there and scheme and let the madness and CR unfold.

I'd be grateful. I'm learning what I can in training at the Hold, but that doesn't cover everything. The tennis might be a nice break from that too.

[Steph has Opinions about how good the Initiative trainers are, but that's coming from someone who's learnt from... literally the top martial artists in her world, so she knows she's probably just fussy.]

I'm teaching Ellie krav maga, if you wanna come along one day to give her someone other than me to beat up. [She's grinning, so that's probably a joke.] And yeah, it's good to change things up sometimes.

[Tennis is also good practice for hand-eye coordination. Maybe she should take it up.]

Krav what now?

Uh...I mean sure, I'll make a good punching bag.

[She grins, huffs a quiet laugh, but figures it'd be an idea to explain if he is actually interested in learning.]

Krav maga, it's a martial arts style developed by an Israeli rebel, and the whole defence force over there uses it now. It's a combination of different styles, but the primary concern is self-defence for real world situations. It can be a bit brutal, but it's good for people who might not have a lot of natural strength, since it teaches you how to go for people's weak spots.

[It's why Ellie's taken to it fairly well. Not that Steph doesn't think Ellie's strong, but she's kind of tiny, and definitely hasn't had the training that vigilantes have had.]

Hmm. So, good for getting us out of difficult spots alive. I can see the use.

I'm signing up, right?
controlledvariable: (civvies -- this isn't going as planned)

today in tags I thought I replied to. it's cool if you wanna drop it

Basically. A lot of people are more comfortable learning self-defence instead of more attack based martial arts.

[Because people are weird.]

If you want to. I'd be happy to teach you what I know.

It'd be great. I don't have much to lose but my pride and a few soreness-free days.

[He smiled, pleased with the idea.]
controlledvariable: (civvies -- hey it could've been worse)

[personal profile] controlledvariable 2013-05-17 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, theoretically you could end up with broken bones, but I promise to be gentle.

[Steph that's the opposite of reassuring.]
theboywhodied: (clueless)

How good are our medics at mending those?
