only this moment holds us together;

Date & Time: 3/28, after this post.
Location: Zevran's apartment.
Characters: Zevran Arainai ([personal profile] bloodyantivan) & Elissa Cousland ([personal profile] ladyspitfire)
Summary: Elissa has something she wants to talk about.
Warnings: FEEEEEEEELIIIIIIIIIIIIINGS.

[Zevran turns a few paces, combs his hair, and tidies up his already cell-like room before Elissa arrives. He answers the door with a warm smile for her, though he's not sure what she could possibly want. Considering the nature of her message, he's worried that she might have bad news.

He tries not to imagine it's anything to do with either of their untimely demises. He tries to tell himself if that's the case then he can accept it.

He's not sure he believes it, but he still has a warm smile for Elissa when she arrives.]

Come in, my friend.

[She's thought about this conversation for days. For over a week, even, since Fiona's disappearance. She and Zevran are the last of their companions and though she didn't know Fiona well, she knew enough that she has mourned the loss of an ally in her own way. But as she had said in her post, there are many that have left, and the thought has weighed on her for some time that she would be next to vanish. Or perhaps it would be Zevran again and he would not return this time.

It's enough to make her feel ill, fear on top of anxiety. It's mounted for days, stones on her shoulders, and she knows she has to be honest with Zevran, if nothing else.

But that doesn't mean it's so simple. Even making the journey from the cafe to the apartments was enough to allow the doubt back in. Twice she pulled out her device to tell him to forget about it and twice she slid it away and kept walking. Where is the Hero of Ferelden now? Where is the woman who faced the Archdemon without fear for her own life?

She sighs at herself. I think I'd prefer to fight the Archdemon again than to have this conversation. Then, at least, she would have something to kill. She's more fighter than anything else now, and what she wants to say is... Well.

Elissa has enough in her to give him a relaxed and faint smile when he opens the door.]

Thanks. [She steps inside and looks briefly around.] Sorry for the short notice.
