Date & Time: Evening of April 30 (forward-dated)
Location: Unit 409
Characters: Jesse & anyone who wants to join him in baking cookies
Summary: Getting baked. The cookies are, that is. Here is the IC invitation.
Notes: Party/meme-style. Tag in your characters. Tag around. Whatever. Fun times. Remember this is taking place during the mission, so sorry to anyone who's in Australia. You're missing it!!!
Warnings: Put warnings on your thread subject lines. But seriously...
Jesse treats his kitchen the same way he treats the lab: it's spotless, sanitized, and organized. He's laid out many more supplies and ingredients than he would need if he were doing all the work himself. A few extra tables have been brought in and set up like an assembly line, so that each step of the process can be taken care of in order without people tripping over each other. After a few months of trials with this baking thing, he's gotten it all down to a science. The ingredients include items that can't be found easily in the city: various frostings, colorful sprinkles, some rarer nuts and chocolates and such. All things he picked up on a special shopping trip in the past, courtesy of the Initiative. The bakeware, too, is state-of-the-art. And there's a stolen stereo playing 80s-90s hip hop at a volume just loud enough to fill the silence.

[His quick question will catch her a little off guard as she takes notice of Mamoru, her monkey, on her shoulder giving him the same puzzled expression. She will offer the other man a nervous smile and nod of her head.]
Yes, he is. His name is Mamoru. He's my partner. [Then she begins to wonder.] Why? Are monkeys not allowed here?
no subject
[Well... Probably not by FDA standards, but. Whatever, he's cautiously reaching out to pet the monkey.]
Oh my god, he's so tiny.

[Mamoru, in turn, will look up at Nanami wearily because he isn't used to being petted. What does he do when Tomoe would usually grab and be mean to him? Nanami, on the other hand, will simply offer Mamoru a smile as a way to say 'It's okay. He won't harm you'. The monkey will get close enough for the other guy to pet him once he felt his master's comforting vibes.]
Of course. Mamoru is only a baby still. He's only a few months old, but he really is like a four year old. [Well, now that she thinks about his human transformation.] Although, he does act a little mature for his age....I'll say he acts more like an eight year old....only he's a little shorter for an eight year old.

[Yes, excuse Jesse while he spends a moment cooing and scratching the monkey's head. Do they like that? Are they like dogs?]
I don't think I've ever seen a pet monkey before. Are they really just like little kids?
no subject
[The tiny monkey will look up at his not!mama as he enjoys the petting and cooing because what is receiving positive attention? Nanami couldn't help find the scene very cute, truth be told. She'll giggle a bit.]
Now. What do we say to Jesse-san for the compliment?
[It won't be long for Mamoru to think about it as he pulls away from the other man's reach. Nanami, on the other hand, will extend her hands as Mamoru runs from her shoulder to the hands, using it as a platform, to bow his head down in gratitude for the compliments. Mamoru will continue the motion a couple of times more.]
You could say that... [How to explain that Mamoru wasn't really a normal monkey without giving herself away?] You see, Mamoru is different than most monkeys. [How to really explain this?] Ummm....he is better trained, and has been living with me ever since he was born. You can say, I'm like his mom! [A small laugh at the thought as she uses one hand to rub the back of her head.] Mamoru and I have gone through a great deal together. Luckily, I was able to choose him as my partner again. He really is a great support for me. [Yes, she accidentally got off track over here.]

That's so cool. That's awesome! It's so nice to meet you, Nanami, Mamoru.
[He's bowing to the monkey like it's a miniature person, yes.]
