Date & Time: early evening of april 30th
Location: unit 407
Characters: leo & oz
Summary: time for a house call because some nobles just don't know how public libraries work
Warnings: idk none?
[ If it were up to Leo he would never drop by Oz's apartment willingly, but this time it's not entirely up to him. Not when he owes the librarian for occasionally letting him spend the night in the library and especially when 'occasionally' was turning into 'often' by now. So when Leo dropped by the library after his work in the orphanage and caught the librarian's complaints, he'd offered his help after quickly realizing what the problem was.
Honestly, nobles.
He's marching down the apartment complex halls with a paper in hand listing the missing books and the appropriate fines, still clad in the clothing that made him seamlessly fit in with the natives that he's been prone to wearing whenever he visits the orphanage and with the Nightray sword dangling from his hip. Since Elliot wanted him to look after it, it meant dragging it around everywhere but at least Leo had gotten a belt to make it easier on himself.
Once he finds the right door, he stops to take a deep breath to alleviate some of the growing irritation before knocking. ]

Aah, that's true. ( and then he laughs, because it really is. ) He'll do that no matter what I do.
no subject
But Leo doesn't say that out loud, there's a brief pause instead. ]
You're very lucky. [ To have Gilbert, especially knowing what Leo does. And with that cryptic remark he starts walking to make his way back to the apartments again. ]
no subject
I know. ( better than ever now, really ) Though, ( he adds after a moment ) with the way things are here, he might not find out to worry, anyway.
no subject
Giving up hope already? That's not like you.
no subject
( he obliges a laugh at how ridiculous that notion is before his thoughts turn to the real reason. it's not very complicated: the longer he stays here, the surer he is that gil is much better off not having to do the same. like he'd said to leo the first time they spoke, he'd hate it here, and to say nothing of the issue of ahiru - if he doesn't remember her like she expects, or if he does, with the mystery of their circumstances (ones that don't seem to include oz, from ahiru's reactions). the latter is something he can hope for her sake, but that aside... )
Time and memories are strange here, aren't they? That's all.
no subject
Instead, he shrugs almost nonchalantly. ]
In a place where they're constantly changing the past, is that so odd?
no subject
( but rather than follow that potentially depressing line of thought he says instead: )
Her name is Haruka. Have you met her?
no subject
The one who thinks she's useless? Sort of. I've written to her before.
[ Because what is 'texting'? ]
Why?
no subject
She what?
( in retrospect, it's not that surprising, but the fact that she apparently admitted as much to leo - or that it's the first thing he thinks of when he thinks of her - is. )
no subject
That's what she wrote.
[ How the conversation had devolved into that he's still not quite sure, but it had just been a simple, interesting conversation with a stranger to kill time with to him then. Perhaps he should be surprised that Oz actually knows her with how closed off she seemed, but he's not. Not really. ]
no subject
he frowns for just a second at the image of her saying that, putting it away to think about - say something about - later. for now, it's another piece of the puzzle that makes up haruka. he shoots leo a look, teasingly mimicking the librarian's stern tones. )
You know, you should've said something like, "for a girl of your beauty to think so is a true tragedy!" - or something.
no subject
He returns the look with an entirely deadpan one of his own. ]
Why would I say that when I don't even know what she looks like? [ Not that he would even if he did, but that's not the point. ]
no subject
( he waves a hand exaggeratedly )
You should think of every girl you talk to as a beautiful lady!
( oscar's upbringing is starting to show. )
no subject
Why? That's stupid.
[ There's no way anyone would fall for that, right? Also he prefers his ladies fictional, thank you very much. ]
no subject
( gosh!!!! )
Every man, but especially every noble, should treat a lady well. Heads of houses all the more so!
no subject
He's just going to nonchalantly point out . . . ]
That would be lying and lying is rude, isn't it?
no subject
( LEO THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS )
no subject
You can't tell any of those things over writing.
no subject
That doesn't matter! The point is that you know it's true.
no subject
You can't know when you can't see.
no subject
because it's not like he's aggressively keeping conversation light and silly and far away from the topics of before, not at all )
Everything isn't about seeing! Knowing is also important.
no subject
That makes no sense.
no subject
( he waves a hand with an air of magnanimity )
You'll understand when you're older.
no subject
You know I'm older than you.
[ Actually, that's kind of a lie. All things considered, B-Rabbit's been around a while but details, details that will not be spoken of. ]
no subject
So, if you don't understand it yet, that means you might when we're older, right?
