Date and Time: Afternoon of the seventh
Location: A certain ruined restaurant with a tarp on the roof

Summary: A bunch of teenagers try to fix a roof.
Warnings: Teenagers.

[Sometimes, life happens. Sometimes, the things that happen involve suddenly having to move into a building with a leaky roof, somehow bringing your replica along for the ride.

Seriously, what was he thinking with that one. He ought to kick the idiot out, but at least Luke's willing to work for his keep, which is more than can be said of his roommates back in the Initiative building. And speaking of work -

He's not sure quite how many people Kido was planning on bringing to fix the roof, so their one table is piled with food in the downstairs, burnt-out part of the restaurant. The least he can do is provide lunch, after all, since they're coming to fix the roof on relatively short notice. There's a ladder still propped up against the side of the building outside, and he set up the tarps this morning to provide cover over whoever's working on the leak. There's not much left to do but wait for them to arrive.

And so he props the door open and grabs a piece of fruit from the table, sitting on the floor near the entry to wait.]

[Luke didn't think this one through.

Because here he is, trying to hold the bottom door open with his leg while dragging in a mattress.]

[Well, sometimes efficiency escapes people. Shintaro blinks at Luke's strife for just a moment before he walks on over and grabs the door for him.]

... Do you want help?

[Luke glances over his shoulder. He looks a bit like Asch, except with worse hair and a facelift.]

Ah, thanks! Asch said he needed furniture, so I thought I'd-- [Tug tug.] -- bring this mattress.

[Shintaro remembers Asch -- not that he knows the guys name whups -- and thinks oh maybe they might be siblings! So that must be the grumpier red-haired man's name, right?

(If you leave it to Shintaro, he'll probably assume all redheads are related at this point because they're the only two redheads he's met so far.)]

Do you have a bed?

[The grumpy one is a good way to refer to Asch. Luke is his sunny-eyed twin, currently trying not to trip as he slides the mattress across the floor. He's pretty strong, but the mattress is unwieldy at best. And kind of floppy.]

Um... not really. I wonder if he'll let me stay here until the housing is all sorted out...

Hmm... [He pushes the door open further, then uses his free hand to try pushing the mattress a little for Luke.] Why wouldn't he? Isn't he your brother or something?

[Your efforts are appreciated, little guy. Luke stops for a moment, blinking and looking a little out of sorts.]

My... brother?

[He wishes.]

He's not... it's complicated.

Huh? Oh!

Oh, you aren't...? Sorry. I don't see foreigners that often, so I just kind of assumed...

Foreigners? What do you mean? We're all pretty foreign here, I think.

[He'd rather talk about that than why he and Asch look like twins. Meanwhile, the mattress is through the door, and Luke moves it against the wall for now.]

... Japanese? [... This guy is kind of nervous and flighty. Luke should give him a break.]

Uh, nope, that's it for now. Thanks. I'll head upstairs and see what Asch is up to.

[He turns, then stops.]

[Who let the hikiNEET on the roof?! It may not have been the best decision made.

Shintaro is doing his best but he's no construction worker. With his jacket left inside the building by his rabbit's crate, he's perched precariously on the roof and... actually hard at work, not being much of a complainer when he's told to do something. That doesn't mean he's good at it.]

[Who let the hikiNEET touch nails and a hammer, anyway? Shintaro drops them on the roof suddenly and clutches the thumb he totally just smashed.]

[All right so Kido doesn't know entirely what she's doing but hey she's got a rough idea and between a bunch of kind of inept teenagers, they should be able to figure this out. At least there's no rain under the cover of the tarp but it's getting hot trying to work on it in her hoodie. Maybe she should tag someone else in for a bit...]

[Manual labor is Seto's job. Kano's is to scout, not to work. But this is a mission--at least, that's what Kido probably called this--so it had to be taken seriously.

He's doing his best to help out, but after trying to drag a piece of furniture over he realizes he's too weak to lift it upstairs. So he's leaning against the wall, pretending to take a break instead of admitting that he's made a fool of himself trying to push and shove the furniture up.]

[Yeah, sorry Kano. Asch caught that whole sequence. And now that you're taking your "break" - ]

Just getting it inside is fine. I can get it upstairs later.

[Oh this is sort of embarrassing. He pats the furniture.] Are you talking about this? Ah, I was about to do that myself, but it's nice of you to offer! Thank you, thank you.

[Only sort of? If Asch actually gave a shit, anyway.]

Just worry about the things that need doing immediately.

[ANNOYED NOISES. His threshold for bullshit is low with his replica around.]

Get things out of the rain, since the roof seems taken care of for now.

[That sounds like something Kido would say. He's starting to see why she befriended this guy.]

You're referring to the furniture, right? Wait, don't tell me I'll have to drag everything out there inside...!

[Completely deadpan. Sorry Kano, you're going to have to try harder than that.]

If you're done resting, I can't lift that couch by myself.

[He can do the actual work--it's getting him to stop complaining about it or worming his way out that's tough.]

[And, up they go! Asch doesn't actually need to use all his might. It's like, sixty percent of his might, tops.]

[No. He reaches the step and almost fumbles WOW THIS IS A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION.]

[Good fucking job. At least you didn't drop it, Kano. Asch clicks his tongue slightly.]

[He moves more carefully, reaching the top without any tripping this time. Mission accomplished, +24 EXP.] Sorry, sorry. It's hard to see when you're hauling something this large.

[Sadly, he does not level up. Oh well, maybe next time, Kano.]

Don't just concentrate on seeing the obstacles. Look for other things, like the doorframe, and feel with your feet.

[It's just as sound in battle as when moving furniture, which is probably why Asch doesn't knock into anything.]

[He carefully sets his end down.] Are we carrying furniture or performing a dance? Ah, I don't mean it as an insult! It's definitely sound advice I'll follow.

It's valid for anything.

[And that sure is a couch they've gotten inside. Asch can corral Luke to get it upstairs later.]
