Date & Time: Evening of May 24th, some time after Osprey's post.
Location: Unit 106, Riku's room.
Characters: Riku and Sora.
Summary: Sora can't figure out the right and wrong in all of the recent developments in Exsilium. Who better to talk to about it than his thinker friend? Though things might go a little... differently than expected.
Warnings: Discussion of violence, not much else.
Sora felt sick.
It wasn't the food and it wasn't the water. It was the people. He arrived here just a few days ago thinking this would be like all the other worlds he'd been to - come in, take care of whatever needed to be taken care of (but if it wasn't a threat to the worlds, wasn't that meddling?), move on, go home. The Initiative brought them all here to help them. The Initiative would be the ones sending them on their way.
But the Initiative were also the ones who'd tricked them all, and even if Sora himself hadn't necessarily lost sleep over it, pun not intended, he knew people who had. Seen people on the network that were in pain from its effects. What the Initiative was doing was wrong, but at the same time... weren't the United Earth people wrong, too? Was everyone here an enemy, save for the other Transports? But if things got violent with the Initiative, how were they going to get home?
Sora couldn't stand to sit by and do nothing, but he had no idea what they should do. And he found it strange that his best friend was strangely absent from all of the transmissions so far. He really could use the insight - Riku was always better at understanding complicated things.
He'd at least gotten better with the netbooks - just a little - so it was just an issue of sending a carefully typed "hey I need to talk toy ou. coming over." before he showed up at the older boy's apartment door with a knock.

it was a chore to keep awake. it was harder to sleep and not wake up and not spend an hour pacing, thinking about those dreams, though. the more he ran over his thoughts, the more he was confused by them.
it took him a second to realize Sora was knocking--he quickly went over to let him in as the kettle started to whistle. ]
Hey.
no subject
Ah-- Hey.
[For how tanned Sora usually was, he actually seemed kind of... pale. Weren't they the pair. At least he looked better than Riku. But he figured he may as well cut to the chase.]
Have you been on the network?
no subject
Not today.
[ when Sora closes the door behind him, he moves over to the kitchen to take care of the kettle, pouring himself water and steeping the tea. ]
What's on it?
no subject
That guy, Osprey. He... Because of the stuff with the food...
no subject
... 'stuff with the food'? Sora, what stuff?
[ oh, it must feel good to not be in the dark for once. ]
no subject
[The transmission from the other day, he was going to say, but the whistle of the kettle distracts his attention just long for another thought to sneak up on him. He's looking back to his friend, and the exhaustion on his face looks a little more severe than he'd initially processed. ...No. Okay, no.
His tone is a little more indignant than he means, but he's blurting before he can really police it.]
Have you been keeping up on things at all?
no subject
No. [ he grits out with a sigh. ] I don't go on the network all the time. I've got better things to do with my time. [ like train. and... try to sleep. he lifts a hand against his face, closing his eyes and feeling his forehead, as if trying to see if he has a fever. nothing. he hasn't been blacking out for a few days, at least... ] I check every few days.
[ Besides. I haven't been sleeping well.
as the timer dings, he goes back to his mug of tea, taking a few sips. ]
no subject
[He takes an uncomfortable step towards the kitchen, but stops, brow furrowed.]
These... nightmares that people've been having. They've been putting stuff in the food and water. The Initiative has. I mean, there's proof. And you said you'd been feeling tired, right?
I mean, I know they brought us here to help them and everything, and they probably really do need it, but-- That's not right.
no subject
Sora, don't be ridiculous. The Initiative wouldn't--
[ What are you talking about? Sora'd know if something was up.
he raises a hand to his head, shutting his eyes tightly as a wave of ache passes over his mind. he exhales loudly as he sets his tea down, hands starting to shake.
No. Sora was wrong. He'd only been here a few days. What did he know, anyway?
What am I saying? Who was right all along last time? Sora was. Sora knew who the bad guys were. ]
Nngh.
no subject
Okay, he just has to remind himself that if what he thinks is happening is happening, that's not entirely his best friend talking. He can handle this. He'll do better than he did last time.
He's coming over cautiously. Cautious, but not as if he's sneaking up on the taller boy. They could talk this out. He'd take it easy, and they'd figure it out.]
Riku... Let's just. Can we sit? And you should take a break from drinking that. Just. In case, you know?
no subject
he threads his fingers around Sora's arm, as if stabilizing himself. ]
Yeah. Let's... sit.
no subject
Maybe we should turn the stove off and go to your room. I can show you stuff there.
no subject
[ he says when Sora's eyes drift towards the doors, already knowing what his best friend's thinking about.
he, however, does turn the stove off, and hesitantly starts towards his room, pushing the door open. it's well-kept, as usual, almost Spartan in its simplicity. ]
no subject
no subject
maybe he should contact John after this. is he in danger? no, he's been relatively on his own re: cooking... but what about tea? and what about Roslyn? and what about Sora himself? what has he been eating, or drinking? is it possible he's not the one affected, but Sora is? ]
no subject
Just... here.
no subject
and he doesn't quite know what to expect, not yet. but his face--already sort of ashen, turns a light green and holds his hand against his mouth like he's going to throw up. his head bows, body shaking slightly.
... it's not just the brainwashing speaking, there. he honestly feels betrayed--he was focused on their cause, he... didn't need to be used like this. ]
no subject
[He puts a hand on his shoulder, leaning over just a little to try and catch a glimpse of his face through all that hair. He isn't feeling much better, but he's shoving that aside right this second.]
Riku, it's okay. We're going to figure this out, alright?
no subject
he feels like he's going to be sick. really. ]
No, it's not okay, Sora.
no subject
It will be. I promise.
no subject
Sora, you can't trust me. Who knows how much they've messed with my head?
no subject
no subject
... yeah.
no subject
no subject
You've always got a way.
no subject
Of course I do. Wouldn't be me otherwise.
[He's smiling, even if it's a little feeble.]
There's... still more, but it can wait a little bit.
no subject
[ he's letting out another breath as he straightens. ]
no subject
When he speaks, it's quiet.]
That guy Osprey. He killed one of the people responsible and showed it on the network.
no subject
[ even though Sora probably hears I won't make you rewatch that, the glance of his eyes to the side makes it apparent enough. ]
no subject
I don't know what to do. I mean, who're the bad guys, here? And if they're the only ones that can send the other Transports home, we... can't really fight them, can we?
no subject
We can't fight them. [ he shuts his eyes, trying to fight against the thoughts that've already settled in his mind as fact. ] Sometimes... you have to deal with bad guys to get what you want, Sora.
no subject
But-- That's not right.
no subject
[ Riku would know that better than anyone else. ]
