Summary: Moping around because he hasn't really had the chance to do much else. He'll be staring at the picture of the man he thought was the love of his life but now thinks is a dirty adulterer if you don't mind!!

[He settles down on concrete, hands in his jacket's pockets, shoulders hunched up and lips pressed uncomfortably. It's as though the day has decided to be chillier than usual, but it could just as easily be Peter's nerves prickling at his skin.

Eventually he removes from his pocket a photograph, the same he showed to the network when he first had the chance - a candid portrait of a Doctor Freddie Grumley, the man who was supposed to be the most important person in the world to him and turned out to be... something else.

He wishes he were here, so he could ask for some kind of explanation. On the other hand, maybe it's just easier to pretend he'll never have to see him again and save the pain. There's no closure in that, though.

Really? [Well. He supposes it must be.] I guess it would be boring for you.

[ Kate shakes her head, hair falling into her face a moment before she pushes it back. It's growing past her chin -- she'll need to cut it. ]

I think I would welcome the quiet. Gotham's... always got something going on herself. [ But crime never sleeps, huh? ]

Is that good or bad?

A little bit of both.

We've got a few crazies in Gotham. Criminals.

[well.]

There are criminals everywhere. We must all have that in common.

Do you have supervillains, too?

[after a pause, with a somewhat contradictory smile,] Only in, er - bandes dessinées. [what's the word?] Comic books-?

[ She almost laughs. ]

I think most of them are kind of like that. [ And worse, but she can't go on about personal experience. ] Some criminals have superpowers and abuse it.

[he watches her, silent again, scratching his nape lightly.]

I feel bad, but that sounds exciting. In a way.

[ It does have a way of livening up the city... ]

After a while it just becomes sad. Those guys don't have anything better to do in their lives.

Don't they get caught?

They do, but there's always more. [ She says with an air of disdain. ] Or they break out eventually from Arkham.

Arkham. [he echoes the word to try and get it right in his head.] Prison?

[ Kate nods, her expression less than sympathetic suddenly. Who liked Arkham? Only the psychopaths and sick sons of bitches who found some sort of entertainment in murderers. ]

It's an asylum. They only put the craziest ones there.

There are places like that where I come from, too. For the criminally insane? [is that the right term?]

Basically. They probably have other things in their facilities for the ones with super powers. Maybe something that shuts them off.

[after a thoughtful pause- ] Do you - think they have something like that here?

Like an asylum or...? [ The other thing? ]

Something to keep powers in check. Or just to keep us all in check.

The UE might have something like it. I don't know what the Initiative has, but they do have holding cells.

[ That garners her interest. Is he a metahuman? You can never too sure. ]

[he's quiet, picking at his fingers. After looking up at her again,] Hope we never have to find out, right?

[that is definitely an attempt to smile.]

[ Kate nods quietly. The thought is a worrisome one. ]

As long as they aren't using it against innocent people.

People always find a way to screw up their best intentions somehow.

[ Certain faces flash in her memory.

A grim nod. ]

Sometimes, yeah.

[he's scratching under his ear, thoughts dwelling into matters he'd rather forget. He clears his throat.]

Wanna go somewhere? We could grab a drink or - something to eat, if you're hungry.
