Summary:

a collection of threads throughout June following the Dan's activity with one another as well friends connected to the Dan, put into one post to avoid spamming the comms. Sometimes a dan roll call.

Warnings: Uuuuuh idk lots of gross sick people. Dying! Sad teenagers and friends!

The virus is spreading, and even the Dan is catching it. And so are their friends. This is whatever they decide to do during June while sick. Prose and action spam friendly!

[Shintaro puts the fruit firmly in Kano's hand.]

What she said. Besides, you should lead by example.

... You know, that expression suits you.

[He says, a little teasing. But he means well.]

You want to take some fruit with you?

[And as sudden as that expression was, it's gone. Shinji straightens up, doing his best to muster an unimpressed look.]

I don't know what you're talking about... [He stands up.] Sure.

[Shintaro almost looks a little disappointed at that, but he just laughs a tiny laugh, like he'd just watched a dog run headfirst into a window or something.]

I'll go get you some, then.

[He stands to head to the kitchen. After sitting for a while he's wobbly on his feet at first, but he won't fall.]

All right! Thank you very much, I'm really grateful. It's...

[She trails off.] ...Eh? Spineless?! Ahaha, he's...

[...No, she can't argue with that.]

[She'd been so sure everyone would get better. They all took the medicine, they all rested. Didn't they all do everything they should have? But the more time passes, the more she can see they're not really getting better, none of them is.

Momo's still on her feet, can still keep going for the moment, but her brother... Shintaro's getting worse and worse and nothing seems to help. Nothing eases the symptoms for long and, more than ever, more than when Kido died, she wishes their mother were here with them. She would know what to do... wouldn't she?

She enters his room, intent on checking up on him, and hears him call her name. She rushes to his side, lightly touching the cloth on his forehead before moving her hand away.]

Y-yeah? What is it?

[He will take that chance like a mature adult.]

It's on the list of things that need to be done, but it's fairly low priority for me at the moment.

[Not hard to see why - at least he got the banister up on the stairs.]

I would like to help out. I may look like this, but I'm quite strong, you know?

[Hire her.]

[To Asch] She is secretly a wandering martial artist.

[He barely feels the fever anymore. It doesn't make being sick any better, but he's been in the state for so long it takes a minute to remember what "healthy" felt like. He thinks he's being dramatic, but as long as he keeps it to himself, he's probably free to think whatever he wants. So he feels like hell and is pretty sure he looks it.

He grabs her hand before it goes too far. Her skin feels cold, but it's probably his hand that's burning.]

You remember, right? If something happens, you go do Kido.

[...He is going to ignore what Christopher just said because the man is insane.]

I don't exactly have the money to pay anyone at the moment, but if you want to volunteer, feel free.

[Score. She shoots Chris a look ("I told you I'm not a ninja") before she smiles at Asch again.]

I don't need to be paid, that's perfectly fine with me. Thank you very much for your generosity, Mr. Asch.

[He shrugs, turning for the door.] Fine, fine. Since you two persistently insist, I'll be sure to eat all the fruit I can lay my hands on!

[Shinji's miffed by the laugh, but he doesn't say anything as he watches Shintaro wobble off. He acts as though he'd follow at first, but when he sees that he's not going to fall over he stays put.]

[She starts when he grabs her hand, but doesn't pull away. It's warm though, hot even, not even close to the temperature it should be in. His fever hasn't gone down at all and all Momo can do is grasp his hand tighter, raise her other one to it as well.

Scary. That's what it is. But it's the last thing he needs to hear right now.]

I remember... But nothing bad's gonna happen. You're still going to get better. Right?

What a moving scene: love at first sight. I'll leave you two alone, then, shall I?

[She watches him go for the door, but doesn't move from her spot.] And don't forget! If you get any more sick, I don't know if we can help take care of you.

That's because you shouldn't get out of bed! You need someone to take care of you. [She nods like that's the best thing she's ever said.]

Alright! I'll go make some...soup or something!

[...]

Do you have soup here?

I thought... [Ene's still in shock.] I thought that you died!

[This is beyond odd! Ayano...she died on the same day that Ene herself did. Ayano was-- she wasn't... How could this be?]

[Shintaro's used to the room tilting by now. He'll place the fruits in a paper bag he's kept from past endeavors into the marketplace, putting them in carefully so none of them bruise. It's a generous amount but not so much that Shinji wouldn't be able to finish them all in a few days.]

Here.

I wonder why... [he's laughing]

[Shintaro either knocks and enters, or doesn't knock as he enters. It's either his home or the home of people he knows who're probably still sick, unlike him. (Well, he was still sick until a few days ago, too. Details.)]

Hey. [He speaks up the moment he finds and recognizes his friends, whether they're in their room at the apartments or on a couch or in their own non-housing-building abode.] The Initiative finally made a vaccine. Hold out your arm.

[He's got a medical bag slung over his shoulder that he's opening, pulling out gloves and small syringes. They trained him for this (quickly). He's got this. It's pretty easy. And he doesn't look like he's sick at all anymore.]

Come on, give me your arm.

[He's trying not to get distracted. He remembers a girl with a scarf before he fell asleep a couple days ago, but he's scared to look and discover she wasn't there to start with. So he's on the move to push those thoughts back.]

[Kido isn't being too fussy over this. Well, no, she is a bit. But she huffs and shoves her arm out, not looking at him at all but instead sitting with her head leaning on her free hand. Unlike Shintaro, she is very clearly still ill. Even now she keeps coughing and she tries to muffle it so he won't miss with the needle.

It still makes her body shake, though.]

...Kano might not like it so be careful with him.

[Shinji peeks into the bag to see what sorts are in there before offering a polite smile.]

Thanks. Um... take care of yourself.

He's going to have to listen. Thanks for the warning. [He's not a rough person. He wonders if she might be sore, but he tries to get her to sit up and plops himself down next to her. Taking her arm, he pushes up the sleeve carefully, rubbing her skin with the smallest bit of force -- something he remembered from when he was a kit, at the doctor's office that someone said helped ease any pain that might happen. He tugs her arm close to him so he can keep it steady as readies the syringe.]

You're okay with needles, right? If you aren't, close your eyes.
