[closed] I hacked my brain so I can't get upset anymore.
Date & Time: Backdated to a few days after the battle in Elmer's world
Location: Morgana's apartment
Characters: Morgana and Max
Summary: Ladies pls
Warnings: None yet, will update as necessary.
She looks a lot like Selene.
It echoes in her head, despite the fact they weren't spoken words, merely signed, but they're important enough to leave that resonance. This Morgana, whoever she is, apparently bears some resemblance to Adonis' sister, and that's a dangerous thing, when his sisters are such a point of weakness for him. It would be easier, too, if this woman looked like Phoebe, rather than the sister who'd curled her fingers around Max's wrist and kissed her so gently, because that makes Selene a weakness for her, too, and there's nothing she hates more than that. It makes her want to avoid Morgana, but if Adonis has had contact with her, then Max needs to investigate, to ensure that the woman isn't going to hurt him or lead him astray.
Morgana is a threat, simply because she looks like Selene, and that means Max has to swallow her own concern.
Room one-zero-six, he'd told her, and she finds her way there, now, wearing her own face instead of any disguise, despite her initial plan to never use this face around anything associated with the Initiative. Sacrifices have to be made, and she feels steadier as Max, which she has a feeling will be necessary, when confronted with a woman who looks like Selene.
She knocks sharply, a quick rap of her knuckles, before stepping back from the door to wait.

She dares some honesty, idly making sure she had no cuts on her hands. She looks behind herself at Max, studying her face silently. The concern sounds genuine, but Morgana herself knows how easily one can fake concern. She had done it herself before, tricking all of Camelot that their daughter had returned to their arms.
"A simple accident."

"He's a good man," Now she'll answer Morgana's question, and sometimes she might be inclined to call Donny a boy, when he can seem so young and naive, but now she's more concerned with giving the right impression, "And he cares deeply about his sisters, I don't want to see someone take advantage of that."
It's a warning, rather than an accusation; she doesn't want to suggest that Morgana has already taken advantage of his kindness, simply that she should be careful not to.

"I know the depths of it, I have seen it with my own eyes." It is more than obvious to her when she is around him, he would defend her even if she did not wish it.
"You have no reason to be concerned." Morgana does not expect her to take her word, if their positions were reversed she is certain she would not take her word. Yet the lays the truth, raw and untouched by silken words twisting to her advantage.
no subject
Still, there's something almost gentle in her tone, when she speaks next, "Then you understand why I'm going to be concerned regardless of reassurances," Not that she thinks Morgana can truly understand it, not when she doesn't know what happened to Selene.
Maybe she's being too honest, it's her concern for Adonis that Asteria always twists into her like knives, but sometimes honesty works best.

She inhales, masking annoyance with a calm expression. She moves into the kitchen, picking idly at the clean counter before returning her gaze to Max.
"Is this the only reason you came here?" It is a dangerous move, she thinks, but she takes the chances. Allowing something more to slip past the mask she has perfected. A calculating intelligence, a fire burning beneath her skin. "You must have more reasons than that."
no subject
No, that wouldn't do at all.
"I wanted to see you for myself," Because she looks so Selene, "He certainly wasn't exaggerating."
Like perhaps she thought he might be, when it had seemed so strange that a near perfect copy of Selene was walking around this city.

Inhaling she looks to the door before her eyes flick back to Max.
"Did you know her?"
no subject
The Casey siblings seem intent on getting under her skin, but she doesn't think about that, instead she smiles, as if sharing a secret.
"He said you'd help me, should something happen to him," The pause is a heavy silence, as she tilts her head to the side, regarding Morgana, "I'm not sure if he was right about that."
It's a risk, perhaps, to be so blunt about something that could be taken an insult, though it certainly isn't meant as one (helping strangers can be extremely foolish, after all). But she's curious to see what Morgana might say in response.
no subject
He puts too much faith in her, she thinks, she could as easily turn this woman away and pretend she never saw her. In truth there is a dark place within her that whispers to do just that, but Morgana smiles slipping into shoes that now ill fit.
"He cares for you a great deal," There is a bitter taste in her mouth, "And I happen to be found of him." She stands on thin ice that could break at any moment, a dangerous position but one she is not unused to.
"If you are in dire need, I will do what I can. For his sake." Words are like smoke, easily spoken but never tangible, they can change at any moment or disappear with a simple gust of wind.
no subject
But the words don't leave her lips, and maybe she's just judging Morgana by her own standards, because she'd lie if she was put on the spot in this way, too. Except she would help Morgana, if the woman needed it, and it wouldn't even have anything to do with the fact that she looks like Selene.
Neither does she give voice to the flicker of possessiveness that curls through her with the way Morgana talks about Adonis.
"I'm sure that won't be necessary," Even if something happens to Donny, it's not as though she can't survive on her own, "But the offer is appreciated, and the same one extends to you."
It's easy, to slip into formality with Morgana, and she wonders what the woman might make of that. Will she believe her?
Does it matter?
no subject
"You have my thanks." Whether she believes it or not is hard to tell, her expressions says she does but her mind twists and turns the words around in hopes on finding falsities or hidden meanings.
Perhaps she means it? Morgana will not truly know until she becomes in need of aid. For the moment she can take her at her word.
"I will be sure to remember it."
no subject
They're just playing this for the sake of playing it.
"Please do," So her tone is genuine, letting something like concern slip through, as she idly straightens the cuffs on her blouse. They're done with this conversation, she thinks, and she doesn't give Morgana time to respond to the first comment before she continues, "Thank you for speaking with me, I hope I haven't taken up too much of your time."
She's dismissing herself, to save Morgana from having to do it.
