Adrasteius moves through the halls with purpose, seeing to as many people and as many of their needs as he can. He administers medicine, soothes the fever-related aches and pains with the Light, checks supplies, and even tries to handle some of that growing paperwork mountain, albeit to very little avail. He knows from the network--and direct observation--that the Initiative's medical facilities are filling up quickly, which means that even Exsilium natives are starting to pour in.

The scene in the waiting room is particularly chaotic at any given time of day; nearly every chair is filled by someone requiring attention. Meanwhile, supplies of all kinds are running low, they're understaffed, and the disease everyone seems to be suffering from won't respond to anything, magical or otherwise.

But everyone's doing their best--right?

True. But they didn't seem a happy bunch even before this sickness struck. [ Cat folds his arms after the handshake's done, and hums to himself. ] You seem to be doing fairly well, though. A musician, hm?

You new? Shit here got worse than ever last month. People ain't been doin' good since we lost the big battle.

[He coughs harshly again, but nods at Catsovi.] Oh yeah, I'm fuckin' peachy. And yeah, I'm a guitarist 'n' singer. Not so much today though.

[scornful]

Big battle... I'm afraid I must be too new. I missed that. [ He's gleaned bits and pieces of information about that off the network, but -- it's a thing of the past -- it doesn't concern Cat, so he hasn't bothered to investigate.

He snaps his fingers. ]

Keep playing.

Count yourself lucky, I guess.

[Johnny frowns at him a little.] I can't. I keep fuckin' up, My head's swimming.

I don't mind mistakes. [ Catsovi shrugs. ] The sound of your guitar is a good deal more interesting than the sound of nearly anything else in this hellhole. Keep playing.

[Normally, Johnny doesn't respond well to people telling him what to do. But listening to the background noise of the hospital for just a moment is enough to know it's a nicer sound than people hacking up their lungs.

He takes a moment to try to clear his head, and takes up playing Layla again. He's still screwing up, but he's just trying to play through it.]

[ Cat listens for a while and starts humming along, eventually, quietly, the sound barely audible even to himself. Oh... this would sound much better if it weren't accompanied by the sound of so many sick and unhappy. ]

Guitar is... such an interesting instrument. [ Flash smile. ] It's banned in my country.

Guitar is banned? What kinda shitty country you from?

An empire. Dictatorship. I'm not sure on the classification, really. [ Catsovi shrugs. ] I forget why it's banned, but it is. So I've never heard one live until now.

Your country don't know what it's missin'. When I ain't busy dyin' of the plague, I play a hell of a lot better. I play at a few bars and cafes 'n' shit in town.

[scornful]

Oh? [ Cat quirks an eyebrow. ] You should tell me specifics. When and where. I'd like to listen to you at your best, sometime.

[He'll give him what he can remember right now. Mostly at NORA cafe, but a few of the bars too, and generally at night, a few nights per week.]
