[ She was the one who purchased their food and other things they might need. Morgana falling ill has changed little in that regard. Only now she has an added need to hurry and return.

The girl buys most of it. Some she steals. Nothing that will be missed. Never too much at once. Just enough to help her stretch their funds. Especially now. Morgana needs good food, warm food, teas, herbs. It falls to her to get it. It's not just her cover. She likes Morgana. The woman is kind to her, accepts her without question. She had been sleeping when the girl left; she had kissed Morgana's fevered brow and promised to return soon.

Now, with her purchases in tow, she plans to make good on that. ]

[Kyubey has been discreetly watching Arya for a couple days now. She's no Madoka - to ask for two such opportunities within a thousand years of each other would be unreasonable - but there is definitely a massive potential within her.

The potential, of course, is called despair - both in her past and in her future. Arya has come from darkness, and her destiny is to return to the darkness. This grim destiny is the reason Kyubey was attracted to the girl to begin with, it is the reason she has the potential for great power, and it is the reason she's now being followed.

When Arya's away from the crowds of the market, in relative isolation, she hears a voice in her head.]

<Arya.>

[wolfchild]

[ She stops to look around her. Her brow creases in a frown. There's no one, it looks like. Mayhaps she only imagined it. ]

[Indeed, she seems to be alone--]

<Over here.>

[On a nearby windowsill, out of the rain, sits a strange creature, smiling blankly and looking right at her. Was it there a moment ago?]

[wolfchild]

[ a cat. a queer one, but all the animals here are queer. with a frown, she continues on her way. ]

[The weird cat hops down from the windowsill, following alongside Arya.]

I've been wanting to talk to you for a while. Did you know that you possess an amazing power?

[wolfchild]

You're talking.

[ the cat is talking. why is this her life. ]

[beingmegucaissuffering]

Is that so strange? There are plenty of non-human creatures here that can talk.

[wolfchild]

They don't talk to me. Get away.

[beingmegucaissuffering]

[This attitude will be tricky to deal with.]

I'm talking to you because I have a chance to give you something nobody else can. Isn't there anything you want?

[wolfchild]

To be left alone.

[ it's only a cat. a mad cat. fixing her bags, she continues walking. ]

[beingmegucaissuffering]

There must be something more than that. Do you want the power to change the world? To protect someone else? Maybe a cure for United Earth's new disease?

[wolfchild]

[ she stops. ]

You don't have that.

[beingmegucaissuffering]

[There we go.]

While asking to get rid of the entire plague is a bit much, I do think you yourself have the power to save at least one person. Possibly more.

What are you talking about?

I'm saying that you can have your wish granted if you make a contract with me and become a magical girl.

[ mad. completely. ]

I don't make wishes.

Would you make one if the wish you made would absolutely come true?

No.

[ because they never do. but she doesn't owe an animal answers. she turns away. ]

[The seed has been planted, though. Kyubey will let Arya run away for now, but this won't be the last time Arya will hear from the strange cat.]
