They thought that trips to Alaska and getting shots would be the beginning of a relaxing break. Instead they got quarantines and bombs and people getting mad at them. Big. Sigh.

[Christopher steps in front of Monica to, frankly, hog the stage.]

Our world is under attack. Our sense of stability is being overthrown. You could say it's in a revolution. As we cycle through these days, we face an endless repetition more hollow than the cycles of nature and full of bombs so unimpressive I wouldn't call them bombs. Instead, I think I'll call them 'devices that explode in a pathetic kind of way.' Goodness, that's rather a mouthful. At any rate, let us eat cake.

[Christopher has a way of gaining attention. It may or may not be a good way but it's a way. She remembers how he talked in a strange way but he was a huge baker, right? And... she needs a break. He's probably offering that.]

Are you guys making a cake or something? If you need help, I can lend a hand.

Christopher, it's rude to stand in front of someone, you know?

[Monica pushes her way under Christopher's arm, smiling at the girl who offered to join.]

Wonderful! We could always use an extra hand or two.

Then let's go, let's go! Time, tide, and terror wait for no man. As you're both women, they might be patient for you, but I won't be! [He charges off up the stairs.]

[Kido blinks at Christopher's back before sighing.] That isn't- Never mind...

[Then she starts up the stairs after him and glances at Monica.]

Are you two friends?

[Is she the one who makes sense in this duo?]

That's what he calls us! I don't have a reason to say he's lying.

[Monica is more willing to speak the language of a proper member of society, yes.]

My name is Monica Campanella. And you are?

This is Kido. She's the boss of a gang of delinquents. When she grows up, she's going to turn her gang into a group of eco-terrorists who right the wrongs done by humankind to the natural world.

[She groans.] That... that isn't accurate at all. [But it does sound fun...]

Well, I am Kido and I do have a gang but we're just close friends and family. Sometimes we do some pretty cool stuff though.

That sounds lovely. Are you all gathered here, then? Is Asch a part of it too?

[Monica beams.]

Gangs can form from something as simple as sharing a secret together. It's wonderful, don't you think? Nice to meet you, Kido.

As I'm a very close friend, I'd like to join your gang. Oh, but I should warn you that I already have an affiliation to the Russo family of Chicago, or rather, their young heir, and that will have to always come first.

[And loyalty to Huey Laforet?

Does Master Huey even want a failure like you?

Christopher smiles broadly as he glides into the kitchen.]

Ah, yeah, if you both want in that's fine. Anyone can join. I guess we are just a family with secrets... but you can always rely on us.

[She isn't sure how to put some of them, since they aren't all members, but...]

Well, even the people here who aren't part of the Dan support us and we support them, too. Even if it's just helping with food.

I think I count more as the latter then. Don't you think, Christopher? How about we start something of our own and it can be an alliance?

What a marvellously villainous term. Let's be the Alliance of Bakers.

[Swinging into the kitchen now to start gathering up the necessary materials.]

[She laughs a little and scratches the back of her head.]

Villainous bakers? Sounds right. Forcing your baked goods on helpless strangers. [She means you, Chris.] What were you guys going to make anyway?

Whatever can be made from the materials we find here. You'd want enough for all those people down there, right?

[She thinks.] Maybe some simple buns.

Don't let what we have limit us. We can always go out and find something else.

We shouldn't be that reckless. There's a lot you can do with buns anyway. If there's some cocoa powder we could make chocolate ones.

[You people are luxurious. Monica watches the two of them, especially at Kido.]

Do you have something like that? That's amazing.

[Christopher swings over to a cabinet to pull out the cocoa powder.] Let's lovingly embrace modern conveniences.

Huh? Is that something luxurious to you guys? When are you from?

[Monica wants to see that, Christopher. Don't mind her shuffling over to peer at it curiously before turning to Kido cheerfully to answer.]

Mmm, I think it was 1710? You must be from much further ahead than me.

[He pops it open so she can see (and taste if she wants)] Years are so hard to keep track of. I measure my time in friendships.

[At least Monica makes sense.

Someone from ancient times makes more sense than Christopher.]

Did you guys even have chocolate back then? That's horrible. You should seriously indulge in it while you're here. It's fine to do things like that sometimes.

[She'll get the trays out because teamwork, yeah!]

You sound like this boy, Kano. [She giggles.] We might have? Orphans like me didn't get to have a lot of things so even if it existed, it might have been only available to the nobles or in other countries.
