They thought that trips to Alaska and getting shots would be the beginning of a relaxing break. Instead they got quarantines and bombs and people getting mad at them. Big. Sigh.

You think so? I always thought mine was kind of boring. Yours is a lot cooler. I liked yours best, anyway.

Actually, you're right. Mine's the coolest out of the Dan's. There's no competition, no competition at all.

Well, Kisaragi's is pretty cool, too. It'd be really inconvenient, though. Mary's works better with someone else's... Seto's isn't too bad. Mine would be cooler if it didn't break so easily.

Kisaragi's the most like a problem. Seto's... it'd be really useful to have. Yours is just as useful, I think.

It's useful but it has a lot more downsides than most of yours.

To be honest, Leader's glare is already a weapon in itself.

Yeah I'll just glare at the UE and they'll back off. You know what I meant. To be honest, I thought of it earlier but I didn't want anyone touching my eyes. It might be worth trying, though.

... they're better than nothing, anyway. [Whatever technology they used to infuse sentience to their weapons could be used on things like voices and magic too it seemed. Applying it to their eyes shouldn't be a problem. And they knew how to use their eyes better than any traditional weapon...]

I wonder, though, what it'll change.

Who knows? Other people pick their natural abilities and don't have trouble.

[She says 'natural' but she knows how unnatural they are. Still, it might be best.]

If it could expand how we can use 'concealment' and 'deceiving' then... may as well. We work well together so it's fine to work together like that.

And all things considered, we have nothing to lose. Right, right. In that case, let's switch when we get the chance.

Maybe we should wait until they finish up with all of this. If they couldn't focus and messed up...

[But how long would it take for them to rebuild the city? Almost certainly too long. It didn't seem like the UE was easing up on them. If troops were sent here and they were left with useless weapons again...

A month sounds good. It should give them enough time to get things together.

That's a relief! I don't think I've gotten any better with my current weapon since I got it.

Me either. I just never felt comfortable with it. I listened to some ideas but I don't like having a 'weapon' really.

Does the idea of weaponizing our eyes bother you any?

...Yeah. Well, supposedly it 'evolves' right? I wonder what will happen to us then? We still don't know a lot about these. For all we know, we'll become some weird monsters in the end.

Well, if you became a weird monster you'd be something like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster.

[Now that they're actually at the store she presses a little closer to him.]

[He can't let go without dropping the illusion from her, though he wants to twine his arm with hers to let her be closer. But he can give her hand a squeeze of reassurance. The customers here don't even spare a glance their way.]

[She says that even as she tightens her grip on his hand. It isn't fear, it really isn't. But just like when she was a child, she walks among people who aren't like her and holds her breath, waiting for the moment they realise she's different and doesn't belong.

Shaking her head of those thoughts, she pulls the list out again and starts picking out groceries again.]

[Since he's taking care of her today, it's the least she can do.]

If I'm a noisy bird I'd like some tasty crackers. [He helps pick out some of the groceries from the shelves, trying to ease some of the tension they felt with a joke.]

If I shoved crackers down your throat you might shut up for a bit, too.

['Crackers'? She starts getting ingredients to make wafers instead.]
