Characters: the Dan, their uncles, anybody else involved?! I am losing track. people. six degrees of separation. tag yourselves!!
Summary: as usual, anti-spam mingle log due to numerous interactions between numerous people. action, voice, text, video, post-its.
Warnings: bombs?!

They thought that trips to Alaska and getting shots would be the beginning of a relaxing break. Instead they got quarantines and bombs and people getting mad at them. Big. Sigh.

[The convenient part about being sick as a dog is that it makes it slightly easier to not look uncomfortable at his question.]

What can you do? I don't know anything about your abilities at all.

[She spent a long time not telling many people what she was capable of, or never going past the basic telepathy. She likes Kano, but she doesn't like him enough to give away her secrets without knowing some of his.]

Mine's reaaaally simple. But to put it even simpler, you could say I can create illusions.

I can do that too.

[Though....]

I used to be very good at it, but I've had to relearn how to do things here.

What kind of illusions can you make?

Eh, you can too? Wow, you sure are amazing, Nill! My illusions are limited, unfortunately! As far as I can tell, they affect a very small range.

It took me a really long time to be able to manage it right.

How big is your range?

Just myself. [It's a useful power, he's not going to deny it--but he can't help but feel that he should figure out some way to push it somehow.] It isn't as expansive as Kido's, but it's definitely cooler than hers by far.

[Nill's found that's the easiest way of doing things, honestly. It takes up way less energy to keep it up that way and it's easier to make it believable. Kido's though...]

What can Kido do?

She can conceal herself, just like a ghost! [A beat.] Ah, I should elaborate--not exactly like a ghost, you see. Her form doesn't go anywhere, but her presence does. Does that make sense?

[She nods.]

She changes the perception of the people around her. Even though she's there, the people she influences can't tell that she is. Does that sound right?

[A pause.]

Your ability does sound cooler.

Almost perfect! There's also the small perk she has that lets her expand the ability to others too. [Giggle giggle giggle.] But it's obvious my ability's the coolest! But don't tell that to Leader, all right~? She'll hit me.

I won't tell her. [She smiles, just slightly.]

Maybe you should practice more often. I might be able to help you, too.

[He perks up at that. He'd been thinking of improving on his eyes for a while now--possibly even switching them to be his weapon instead. He uses them almost constantly. In most cases, it's without thinking. But it's rarely anything challenging for him. If he could push the limits a bit more...]

Really, really?! You'd do that? Uwah, that'd really be great! You're an angel, Nill~

[That would be pretty practical, actually. It's why Nill decided to make herself her weapon. Too many situations where she hasn't had anything to fight with but herself.

She actually sort of wonders what his weapon is if it isn't his eyes. But she says nothing, and instead nods... while trying very hard to ignore the angel comment.]

I want to help you all as much as I can, however I can. I'd be happy to do that.

In that case, I'll let you know when I switch weapons! [There's a beat before he continues:] When things calm down-- actually, no, whenever you're feeling better you can mention that to Kido too.

[It hadn't really occured to her, but given the way Kano did things - for as little as she's seen of them - maybe the way Kido did them wasn't that different. Maybe the Dan all needed a little help in some way.]

She knows, she knows. [After all, she was the first one out of them to ask how changing weapons worked around here. An offer like this would cement their decisions to switch. He'd never been comfortable with his whip--it was something he chose at a glance, based on what would be the least harmful. Blades and guns--blades especially--were out of the question.]

In that case, as the unofficial Dan head, I declare that your mission is to get better as soon as possible! If you want, I could even bother Kido into making soup for you~

[Nill would have to make sure not to introduce them to her weapons of choice-- which were, rather specifically, blades and guns. It's a fleeting thought, but it's something she can do. These kids don't need to do anything as awful as that.

For once though, after he's done talking, even though most of it is a little joke, she can't think of anything to say.

It reminds her of a very long time ago - not exactly a situation like this, but just close enough - when she was younger, probably Kano's age, and she and her friends were counting on someone else to help them. It was still so different, but--

The comparison makes her tear up for just a moment. She really hoped they could be proud of her someday. She hoped that Heine could, too. But more importantly than that, she wanted to look out for these kids. Nill sniffles, and lifts a hand to wipe at one of her eyes, before a wide smile spreads across her face.]

[He's surprised by those tears. But he understands that smile, and it reminds him of a hazy time when he'd been quicker to openly cry, with Ayano there to hold their hands and wrap them with that warm red scarf of hers. Happiness, wasn't it? For a moment, he feels inexplicably proud.

Sis, if she saw this right now... she'd be proud, too, he wanted to think.]

[The brief memory is gentle and warm, and though Nill doesn't know Ayano, or what became of her later, or why Kano thinks she would be proud of him. But Nill thinks it would be difficult not to be proud of someone like Kano.]

What apartment are you in? I'd love to visit sometime.

[She spends almost no time in her apartment, and the company there is... not bad, but it makes her a little sad. She misses being in a place that feels like home.]

Unit 202 is where you'll find us. It might be a little reckless, but we always have our door open. It's important for the Dan to be able to reach each other, you know?

I do. I'll come visit after this is over.

I live in unit 503, but I'm not there very often. Still-- it's open to all of you.

[She giggles, though her lungs don't really agree. It ends up as more of a cough.]
