They thought that trips to Alaska and getting shots would be the beginning of a relaxing break. Instead they got quarantines and bombs and people getting mad at them. Big. Sigh.

[She's getting increasingly agitated by him.]

[She punches him in the arm.]

[He moves away, folding his hands behind his head.]

[In a vague tone.]

[He can get off with not pressing it. It's Kido who wants confirmation, not Kano. So he shrugs and turns away.]

In that case, I'll go to bed now. You should too, since it wouldn't be good if you fell over.

[That just annoys her more.]

You're not even going to answer me at all? Ah, I see. Since it's convenient for you to avoid it, you just will.

It's hard to answer when I don't know what we're talking about, that's all.

[He went too far with that. He should apologize for bringing up the subject like this.]

[That hurt more than she expected it to. He really thinks she doesn't pay attention to him at all? That she's that mean? Maybe she is.]

['Bastard' is one of the usual things she called him. But this time stung, unlike the previous ones. It's too late, but he turns around.]

[She stops, hands in her pockets, not bothering to turn to look at him.]

I'll be away all day tomorrow. I thought it'd be important for you to know.

[She makes a sound just to affirm she heard him. For a moment, she thought maybe he'd apologise or try to talk to her but...

Why does she bother getting her hopes anyway?

Kido waves a hand and goes to lock herself in her room.]

[He doesn't follow. Instead, he throws himself on the sofa with a bitter smile and stares up at the ceiling. The tension whistles out of the room, leaving only a pathetic silence.

Even if she's hiding in her room, she probably wants him to find her and apologize. Instead of laying here, he should knock on her door.

Just say it? Ah, that sounds really simple. He could do it right now. He could go right up to her, grab her by the hand, Hey, Kido, let's do your idea. Let's go on a date. Or he could say Sorry for the delay. But forget about liking me, all right?

That was his goal before her death, wasn't it? To show her that she's making a mistake, so she can drop him instead of holding on. But the funny thing about that is that she's not the one doing the clinging.

He's really pathetic right now.

If he slept on it, maybe it'd be easier to think up a solution.]
