last despair calls first hope
Date & Time: July 2nd & 3rd
Location: Initiative Library, Room 701, around the apartments
Characters: Haruto Souma (
ringwizard), Kousuke Nitoh (
ringbeast), Oriko Mikuni (
precludes)
Summary: Harutowitches out gets the d(espair) hits his breaking point, becomes despair monster.
Warnings:Upupupupu. Depression, despair, a dickbag monster, at least one fight, Chimaera being a tool, references to mass murders, references to not so mass murders, possibly suicidal ideation, character death. Oriko's sense of priorities.
Haruto leaves the Initiative's Hold early in the morning with a certain spring to his step. He's gotten a little tan--his time in 2050 had done him some good, a lingering scrape on the back of his right hand aside, and it's obvious. Being back in the city again leaves a lingering malaise to his mood, but he forces it away. With things to be done all around, he's got to keep moving forward, right? There's a lot of hustle and bustle outside the Hold with the still-lingering confusion of new arrivals, as far as he can tell, and he steps around people talking as he opens his tablet and messages Nitoh.
Are you still asleep?

In her momentary pause, he gets the Defend ring out, and then shoves it away. Not yet, he thinks, and fumbles for another. He can't hurt her, but he can't die here. Not even if it would remove the Dragon problem (the Haruto problem) entirely.
"I'm sorry too, Oriko," he says, and passes his palm over his belt.
"Light, please!" He holds his hand up, screwing his eyes shut against the stone shining on his finger.

Oriko can still predict where he'll move, what'll he'll do, but the lack of sigh in the present does her no favors. It's just as jarring now to be unable to see one period time than the other.
A half a dozen or so orbs materialize behind her, and she sends them out towards where it seemed he'd be.
This is more of a demonstration than a fight, though she finds herself ruthless and prepared to do the worst. But it's still a demonstration; speech would fail her here, as any explanation would fail without impression or drive him down harder and faster.

He'd ask why she's doing this, why now, but he thinks he already knows. "Bind, please!"
Without his suit on, the six chains that form at the outsides of the large magical circle under Oriko's feet are simple chain-links of red energy, wrapping around her torso at the elbows.
He doesn't have much time: his spells are unstable, with all of Dragon's thrashing and whipping around. He turns, and he runs, away from the apartments.
