OPEN.

Date & Time: July 4th
Location: around the city!
Characters: babydoll and you!
Summary: baby is feeling cooped up at the apartment and doesn't want to stay still. find her anywhere you want.
Warnings: none!

( option a )

[baby likes to keep her mind off being trapped in the city by doing one of several things, training being one of those things. she's in the building almost every day for more hours than the average person, though it never quite reaches six hours consistently. it's become such a routine for her that it doesn't even look like she's really pushing herself anymore, it's just something to keep her distracted. she can be seen in the gun range, doing gymnastics, practicing hand-to-hand or practicing her swordsmanship. feel free to interrupt her or find her on a break.]

( option b )

[she's out to eat ( which is rare, regular customers are likely to notice ) or picking up groceries. she isn't picky when it comes to food, even when its food in a place that often has stale things. she grabs whatever looks the most fresh ( she stays away from bread ) and does what she can. she prefers tea over coffee, and doesn't like too many sweets. find her sitting alone at a table or on her way home, or picking up the groceries.]

( option c )

[it's late, probably around 9 or 10, and babydoll can't sleep, so she's wandering ( or patrolling, it's hard to tell ) through the city. she's not paying attention to anything particular, she's more lost in her thoughts. she spends an hour or so on the streets before climbing up to the rooftops to survey the city. if someone happens to find her on the rooftops, it'll be harder to pull her from her thoughts than it would be on the streets, because she'll be more alert there.]

( option d )

[feel free to make up a scenario yourself!]

The problem with boredom is disinterest in a pattern. [Law continued on, shifting lazily and letting his shoulder slump. In this momentary desire to remain still and relaxed, his hat came a little off of his head. Doing nothing to fix it, Law shifted his eyes to look at Babydoll as she took her posture nearby. He looked away before shutting his eyes.]

You should think of something, yourself--or else I'll get bored with myself.

[Maintaining his slump, Law didn't bother shifting his tone at all. He didn't care for being all that persuasive, but at the moment it would have bored him to death if it died there. So, he posed a lone question that he was certain had at least a sliver of merit.]

Haven't you ever heard of 'an easily gained favor'?

[Taking off his hat a moment to inspect it, Law left his eyes in one linear direction.]

Yeah, it's self explanatory. The thing is, you don't know what I can do, so dismissing the implication of me being in your debt for however small a favor wouldn't be worthwhile.

[At that, Law finally turned his head to look at Baby Doll, shrugging lazily.]

The only thing you really would need to wonder is 'How faithful is he?'

A way to kill the time. 'Chaos' is something I can't really sow into this place with it as decrepit as it is. People already know the status quo. There isn't any real power.

[His stare was pleading in a way--not in the begging sense, but in the sense that it was clear that he wanted something he couldn't easily obtained. Law wanted a world he could participate in turning into raw turmoil and he couldn't find it there.]

But, I doubt you could give me that. I've got to rely on the smaller vices. If anything, I like small surprises--conversations that can catch me off guard.

[Law felt that caution washing over Baby Doll's side of things. He didn't have to look. It was a given that, the moment he spoke frankly about himself, that things would always take that turn. If she stuck around, he would really consider himself amused.]

I'm a Royal Warlord. Whatever wealth I come across, I give a cut to the government and they allow me leeway to do as I please.

[He finally turned to eye Baby Doll again, shrugging.]

As for what I 'do', I can't exactly say. The freedom in sailing comes without knowing what happens next. Hence why I'm bored in the first place.

I'm not a hero and I'm even less a normal person. The few things people actually strive for here are 'normalcy' and even then, this place is luxurious in comparison to some parts of the New World.

[For him to consider Punk Hazard a vacation home, when it was an artic wasteland adjoined by a constantly erupting volcano, Law had something very much wrong in a few pieces of his brain.]

My preferences? I couldn't exactly say. Whatever interests me will interest me and I don't ever really know what they are until I find them. I'm really beginning to miss the New World.

In general? In the same vein as my preferences, it's all pretty much unpredictable. There are the lightning isles, the country of Wano, the Marine Bases, the hovering islands, mechanical islands...

'The New World' is a sea of madness that kills the weak and sends normal men home, broken.

[One could easily see why it was that Law enjoyed venturing through it so much. The move all the way to the end of the Grand Line was one he planned on going through in utter chaos.]

So, you could guess why it is that this boring quiet would get to me.

Normal men have limitations and morals. Strength isn't just about having the best weapon, the biggest arms or the most friends.

[Leaning forward, Law set his chin against the backs of his knuckles, looking with a bored expression towards the concrete.]

Strength in your conviction to win is the most important. I imagine you're bothered about my perceptions, but--

[A lesson he learned from Joker and Vergo, unfortunately--something beaten into his skull, literally and figuratively.]

It's the most important thing, I've found. Whether you want to kill someone or protect someone or just be free, strength is absolutely necessary. The one standing on top is going to be the strongest and that's what I consider 'normal'. People who don't want to make that kind of investment are irregular where I come from.
