Characters: Zelos wilder and Yoruichi goneonenight
Summary: Yoruichi finally meets her coworker! Who also happens to be her roommate's brother.
Warnings: Mild hideousness?



[Yoruichi has had better days, given her recent battle with a possessed Castiel. Despite everything, she refuses to give up on her friend, determined that there must be a way to bring him back.]

[Still, life goes on, and she still needed to go to work and help Urahara at the shop. The recent mission had gone a long way towards restoring her spirits, and she feels almost normal now; her worry isn't gone, but she's better able to deal with it. Right now, she's frowning down at a man who'd been brought in with a broken leg, her sympathy evaporating as he tells her exactly how it had happened.]

So let me get this straight. [Her voice is dry.] You got so drunk that when someone dared you to jump off the building and fly home, you said yes.

[She stands up, giving him a flat look.]

Lay there and think about how stupid that is. I'm going out to think about whether or not I want to heal that leg.

[Ignoring his spluttering protests, she walks out away from the bed, out into the clinic waiting room.]

[Dumbass.]

[Zelos meanwhile is coming in for his shift. The trip out onto the beach was really nice. Sure, some people got to find out things he rather they didn't find out- but besides that? It was nice to actually see sunlight again and all in all it was pretty relaxing. ]

[but of course, back to the daily life of rain and working in the clinic. He's coming in just as Yoruichi finishes dealing with that patient, being able to over hear the last bit- which is more than enough to make him curious. Sure, he hasn't spoken to this particular clinic worker before but they were all co-workers right? Nothing wrong with conversation!]

Hm? Everything alright?

[Yoruichi tosses Zelos a quick grin as he enters, recognizing him as a fellow employee, although not one she's spoken to before.]

Fine, fine. Some of us are just rethinking our life choices.

[The end of the sentence is pitched just loudly enough for the patient to hear, prompting another pained complaint from the other room.]

The genius in there got drunk and decided to fly home.

[pause]

He can't actually fly.

[Necessary to add, in a place where people have so many abilities.]

[wilder]

[He listens to the complaints of the patient and Yoruichi's explanation, earning a chuckle of amusement]

Oh, and here I was thinking it was another flying while intoxicated incident.

[But he's not going to argue about making the person wait on being healed. To his ears it didn't sound like they were dying or anything, might as well let them stew a bit. So he'll opt to start taking off his rain cloak instead]

If they're starting this early, it should be a fun shift.

You say that like they're not all fun.

[Yoruichi ignores the complaints; she knows she's going to heal the man's leg, but with any luck the delay will make him think twice about being quite so stupid...no matter how much he'd been drinking.]

[She gives Zelos a wry grin, motioning towards another room.]

Hey, at least you weren't here when a man came in assuming I'd know how to change a diaper because I'm a woman.

[Although to be fair, the man's arm was injured and he couldn't do it himself. Details.]

[wilder]

[He'll follow along, his cloak slung over his shoulder and snickers]

Oh yes, because women are simply born with that knowledge!

Nah, my best was when a teenager came in with a giant hunk of glass shoved up his nose.

Glass up his--

[She breaks off with a snort, shaking her head.]

I think you win. Did he tell you how it happened?

[wilder]

[he laughs a little]

Nope. I tried to ask and he evaded. After awhile I decided not to pry further.

[goneonenight]

Probably for the best.

[she snickers]

I'm Yoruichi--we haven't had a shift together before, have we?

[wilder]

Hmmm...I don't think we have!

I'm Kaneis. It's a pleasure, Yoruichi!

[goneonenight]

[She blinks, then her smile brightens from her usual laid back manner to something more genuine.]

Hoooh, I've been hoping to run into you. Your sister's mentioned you--she's one of my roommates.

[wilder]

[!!!]

Huh? You're Seles's roommate?

[goneonenight]

Is it that surprising? Were you expecting someone else?

[wilder]

Huh? Well- no I wasn't really expecting so much as just...what are the odds! You know? [Statistically they're pretty low!!]

[goneonenight]

Fair enough. But stranger things have happened, especially around here.

So now you can tell Seles you met her favorite roommate.

[wilder]

Hahah, yeah I guess.

Her favorite huh? You two get along well?

[goneonenight]

Well, the bar is set pretty low, to be honest.

[Considering how much Seles can't stand Gin,anyone would be preferable.]

But well enough, yeah. She's a good ki--

[She breaks off as the patient in the other room starts complaining again.]

Fine, fine. I'll be right there.

[She quirks a half-grin at Kaneis.]

Want to come with me? I might need another pair of hands.

[wilder]

[He wanted to ask more, to find out more about how his sister has been doing- he has heard so little over the past couple weeks that he can't help but want to know everything-]

[But then the patient cuts them off. There's irritation on his face before it vanishes until his usual calm expression]

Heh, alright. Let's deal with this loser.

[She notes the brief flicker of annoyance, but simply chalks it up to the fact that this patient is getting rather grating. She heads into the other room, silencing the man with no more than a look--Yoruichi has no problem doing her job but she's not going to listen to him whine the whole time.]

All right, this will feel strange, but it shouldn't hurt. If you move around too much, the bone will set crooked and we'll have to rebreak it.

[The man goes pale at her matter of fact announcement and is finally blessedly silent as she lifts the sheet from his leg. It's already been set, with a splint holding the edges of the broken bone in place. The familiar blue glow of healing kidou soon envelops her hands, and she places them on his leg. Once the process is underway, she can relax her concentration a bit, and flicks her eyes over to Kaneis once more.]

Anyway, like I was saying, Seles is a good kid. A little excitable, but I think most people are at that age.

it's okay I'm really late on this sorry about that!

[wilder]

[He watches that whole scene, trying very hard not to snicker and instead keep a straight face. Since yeah, probably bad form to laugh at a patient's misery. So he'll cross his arms and continue chatting once she starts up again, much to the patient's exasperation at these people]

Heh...yeah, she tends to get pretty loud quick. [NOT LIKE HIM AT ALL, NO SIREE] I'm sure she'll calm down though- this is a new situation for her!

[Yoruichi makes no such effort to hide her amusement, although she gives Kaneis points for trying. If the patient wants to complain, she's very good at tuning that sort of thing out.]

Is she not used to living with other people? Aside from family, I mean.

[wilder]

[It just shows you're the more badass one Yoruichi. But he pauses at that question, since oh- how do you say this]

I...don't know, actually. We've lived far apart from each other for a long time. so... [Who knows how many people she lived with in the monastery]

Oh?

[That gives her pause, especially in light of Kaneis' slight hesitation. But as much as she values her own privacy, she's not going to poke into someone else's. So she simply gives him a small, but sincere smile.]

Well, I guess that's one good thing about being here, hm? You guys getting to see each other more.

[wilder]

[And he's glad for the lack of prying! Because honestly, it's not an easy subject to talk about, and he has even less idea what he can and can't say to Seles's roommate]

Yeah...all things considered, I can't complain about that part.
