[Closed] In the Eye of Another.
Date & Time: Backdated; follow up to this thread.
Location: A little place a few blocks from the Hold.
Characters: Asbel Lhant (
pactfulfilled) and Collette "Please" (
whatsupcroc)
Summary: Collette and Asbel expand their culinary tastes. Additionally and as promised, Asbel reveals the reason behind his heterochromia over hot cocoa.
Warnings: M for Major Spoilers.
Well, I guess we made it here first.
[Asbel stands in the entryway, shaking out his jacket and taking another sweeping look around the eating establishment. He doesn't mind waiting, really. If nothing else, it gives him a chance to organize his thoughts a little more.]
[Ever since his visit to the Shadow Realm, they've been scattered all over the place. No matter how much he tries to reorder or put them aside, there are still a few things he's not sure what to do about. And each of those things seems to have names attached. How can he keep them safe? How can he know that they're all right? How long will this war last, how will it end, and when, and what'll become of Lhant in the meantime?]
[But if he can figure out how to approach people about this, then maybe he can puzzle out the rest of it. That's what he's hoping for. He did give his word, after all.]
[And besides, he isn't doing this just for himself.]
[Are you watching him? Lambda?]
[Letting out a breath, Asbel slides into a seat near the entrance to wait for Collette.]

She wiggles her umbrella into the umbrella holder, looking around for who she expects to meet after everything's reasonably well in place.
Thankfully, he's near the entrance when she sees him. In all likelihood, he saw her first -- but in case he'd been distracted, she lifts a hand, calling out in a glad tone of voice as she rolls his way; )
Asbel! Sorry to be late!
( She's happy he showed up here. )
I got held up leaving the apartments.

[Asbel rises to his feet, offering a smile when he sees her coming this way, his own umbrella tucked into a belt along with the sword he almost always has on his person. He shakes his head lightly.]
It's no problem, I only just got here a while ago myself. So, where would you like to sit?
[He figures she's the expert when it comes to this place. And he didn't want to end up picking a table that'd be too difficult to manuever to, either.]

( She says, upbeat as ever. It's a happy coincidence "open" here tends to mean along the main walkway, and the nearest tables aren't all filled with people. )
How about by the window?
( Most tables were by the long front window, made of many smaller panes of glass rather than one unbroken one. She heads toward the nearest, stopping to pull out a chair and wiggle-walk it to the side, out of the way. )

[Asbel follows along, and if it looks like she's having any difficulty wiggle-walking the chair, he'll probably try to help. But from where he's standing, she seems to have a pretty strong handle on things.]
[When she's situated, Asbel will slide into a chair opposite Collette. He doesn't mind having to turn a little to look out. He and the rain don't have much of a history of boosting one another's confidence anyway.]
[He offers her one of the menus tucked between the salt and pepper shakers in the table's center.]
You know, it really is a good day for hot cocoa. I'm glad you suggested it.
