Date & Time: 8/1-ish and noon
Location: unit 503
Characters: neku & nill
Summary: moving in is a thing
Warnings: n/a
[ getting the introductory speech about housing companions a month in advance didn't really do much in the lieu of mental preparation for something like this - especially since neku had more or less tuned all that stuff out once he'd gotten accustomed to temporary housing. he'd been struggling to remember how, exactly, the initial speech had gone ever since receiving his very belated apartment key in addition to the month's allowance after getting back from that "mission" that he still had sunburn to show for.
and now he'd been standing here at the doorway of this place, duffel bag in tote, for a lot longer than he should be. it's still hard to wrap his mind around the whole shared housing deal, but he's gotta move sometime -- he'll even tug his headphones down to around his neck before unlocking and subsequently opening the door.
...hesitantly entering, not necessarily feeling the need to quit lugging his (admittedly meager) bag of belongings over his shoulder just yet -- at least it wasn't rocks.
the first thing noticeable was how much ritzier the interior was compared to the temp area, no doubt, but there was something else. ]
Uhh... Hello?
[ . . . felt kinda empty. ]

...She felt a little bad for whoever the new one might be, though. Sherlock wasn't an easy man to live with.
Normally Nill didn't spend too much time in the apartment. She came and went as needed, but well... Sherlock certainly wasn't going to be a good greeter. So she made a point to spend just a little more time there. It's the only reason she's actually there when she hears the key in the lock and then the door opening. She's quick to leave her own bedroom, and peer down the hall - and upon realizing it's not Sherlock out there, she straightens her clothes just a little bit, and heads out with a smile on her face.
She waves with her free hand. Her tablet is already in the other, and she types on it quickly, before walking up to Neku.]
Hello. My name is Nill.
no subject
of course, he won't ask if she can't talk or anything like that, but he's definitely wondering it. more importantly, he's straightening up from having leaned in a little to inspect the tablet and responding to her, now. ]
... Right, hey. [ normally he glosses over the whole introduction thing but considering.. the roomie thing.. ] -- And uh...it's Neku.
[ confetti for this unprompted fact.
-- but it still feels kind of awkward to leave it at that. ]
I guess... I should put this stuff somewhere. [ briefly lifting his shoulder with the duffel bag and pointing in the direction of the hall - there are a lot of doors down there and he doesn't exactly want to open the wrong one. ] Which one's mine?
no subject
She offers a quick nod of understanding, and begins typing up a new message almost as quickly as someone might offer an answer. It isn't quite as fast, but she's still quick enough with it that it's obvious she's been doing this for a fairly long time.]
It's nice to meet you, Neku.
I'm sorry if this is inconvenient. I can't talk.
[Just, you know, might as well get the elephant out of the room. She certainly doesn't let him linger on it, at any rate - as soon as she's seen that he's read the message, she gestures with her free hand, and starts heading towards the hall, already typing up a new message while she walks. She stops in front of the second door down on the left, and holds up the tablet for him again.]
This room is yours. Mine is the one next to it. Sherlock is across the hall from you, and the door across from mine is the bathroom.
no subject
Nah, it's cool. Figured it was something like that.
[ and neku follows her, his eyes wandering around the hall a little, but by now he's expecting the tablet responses, so he's taken to keeping an eye out for them. as soon as he reads it, he nods, glancing at the other doors to mentally confirm what led to where before reaching to open his own. ]
Got it. [ (gently!) tossing his stuff inside, and closing it once more. ] -- Thanks.
[ the lack of any weight on him draws attention to the fact that he still had his headphones around his neck, which feels silly now - but it'd feel even sillier to pull them back up, so he'll leave them be and catch a glance at the other door across the hall. ]
( That's... Sherlock. ) ...... [ riiight, like the detective? that's cute. turning his attention back to nill, though. ]
Anything else I should know? Rules, or whatever.
1/2
She is briefly distracted by his headphones - she hadn't really noticed them at first - but they're pretty nice. A lot nicer than the set she has, though those were in her room. She's a little jealous, but mostly, she just smiles.
Rules though... Hrm. She thinks about it for a moment, before typing up a new message for him.]
We don't have any rules. There's a little food in the refrigerator, but you can have whatever you would like. I'm not here very often.
no subject
Sherlock likes to bring back hookers. I think he has also broken into my room at least once. He doesn't steal anything-- he's just a little different.
[Which aren't exactly rules, but well... kid deserves a warning.]
no subject
his mouth kind of drops. ]
What the hell -- ? [ this sherlock guy again. ] What is he, crazy!?
no subject
She doesn't really blame him for not liking that detail about Sherlock, though.]
He's a little different.
[How else does she... explain Sherlock Holmes...]
He's difficult to live with. If he causes any trouble for you, let me know and I'll talk to him.
[AS WELL AS SHE CAN anyway...]
no subject
[ his bad habit of wanting to deal with things on his own kicks in, but the fact that she used a tablet to "talk" makes him feel like dismissing her offer would be the best thing to do, so he sort of waves his hand when her second statement pops on-screen. ]
Um... That's OK, I'll just...do what it takes to deal. ( Somehow. )
[ the way she talks about him, though. ]
...Guess you've been dealing with him for a while then, right?
[ sort of...wondering how long she's been here. ]
no subject
A month or two. He hasn't been here very long. Everyone else that used to live in this apartment has left.
no subject
neku raises an eyebrow. ]
...Left? So they switched apartments?
no subject
She shakes her head.]
Only one of them moved. I don't know where he went-- the names of the others aren't on the list of people here anymore. Most people think that when you leave you go home.
