Date & Time: August 1st
Location: Transport clinic
Characters: Ellie, Joel, andtheir hot nurse Kaneis
Summary: Joel pops some stitches, Ellie brings him to a magical redhead
Warnings: Descriptions of blood/gore are likely!
Getting anywhere in the rain always seemed to take longer than anything else. Thankfully, they don't get lost on their way to their destination, and Ellie heaves a sigh of relief once she sees the clinic doors. Good. They made it. Her footsteps already feel lighter, any injuries of her own forgotten.
"Almost there. I got the door," she says to Joel, running ahead and holding it open for him. She leans inside. Sure looked like a clinic, or what remains she'd seen of labs and research facilities. Except this definitely felt alive. It felt hopeful.

[He knew that "healer" always sounded a bit...strange to people, but he didn't have a medical degree either. So, medic would have to suffice. ]
Let's bring him into one of the exam rooms, I'll have to see the wound for myself.
[He'll walk over, being on the other side of Joel in case he needs the help.] This way. [He nods towards the doors on the other side of the waiting room]

He's on the verge of collapsing, a tremor starting in his knees, but the only thing that keeps him going is that damned promise to a certain little girl. ]

[Now she takes his arm, guiding him along.]

[He leads them to a hospital room, the nearest one to the door. He'll nod at the bed as he heads over to ready supplies]
Lay on that, I'll need to see the injury so open your shirt please.

Joel will let this "medic" pull off the tape and gauze, or even Ellie. Right now he's just glad to be laying down and doesn't want to move anymore, eyes closing. ]
no subject
Be careful.

[As he works, he talks]
Any allergies to medications, serious medical conditions or religious and/or personal beliefs against the use of healing magic? [And without missing a beat] And yes, before you look at me like I'm crazy, magic's as real here as my freaky hair color.
no subject
The hell-? Magic?
[ Joel shoots Ellie a look because - kiddo, just where in the hell did you bring him to? Then there's a look shot over at the redhead. ]
Magic ain't real. Your freaky hair is. [ Adds on a mutter: ] Ain't the first time I've seen somethin' like it.
no subject
Uh. Can we just get on with it? Magic powers, go!

[He glances over at Ellie for a second before returning to his work] Sorry my dear, have to make sure I don't kill or hurt your friend more by accident.
[Which he'll promptly return to, finally getting all the bandaging off and looking at the area, he grimaces to see that it might need recutting if he did it all manually. Which...let's avoid that if we can. Dabbing at the area to get rid of any puss, blood and sticky stuff, he then sets down the rag and holds his hand over the guy's stomach. Concentrating hard, the area around him glows green for a few moments]
Breath of Earth. [What looks like wind of light circles around the wound. It doesn't' heal it fully, but it looks definitely closer to a normal color a wound should be and hurts less!]
no subject
Okay, that should handle the worst of it! I'm gonna redress the wound and put you on some antibiotics to clear out the rest- that should take a couple days. And once the infection's out of the way, I can take care of the rest of the injury.

Joel barely catches the green glow in his downward peripheral, his heavily hooded gaze tiredly watching Ellie. The deep creases in his brow ease gradually as more and more of the pressure is relieved from his torso. It lingers still but he doesn't feel so weighed down, his body visibly relaxing into the bed, and he sighs to himself.
Feels nice is the last thing he's thinking before he slips unconscious, his body finally able to properly rest without that constant ache lingering like a persistent head cold. The last thing he hears is the medic explaining the next steps.
Either way, Joel knows they're both in good hands. ]
no subject
Oh my god...
[She looks just about ready to flip out when Joel sighs and then is dead quiet, but she realizes that he needs sleep before she ends up grabbing his shoulders and shaking him. He must be so tired.
Silence settles in the room, and Ellie just stares for a few more beats.]
Holy fuck. Holy fuck... that's... that's it?
no subject
Yep. He'll need awhile to recover, but he should be alright.
aaand papa joel is out!
--thank you. I don't even know what to say aside from that. You're amazing.
no subject
I could get used to hearing that...but I'm just doing my job. A lot of the other healers probably have a lot more amazing skills.
no subject
Does that take a lot out of you?
[She's dropped her voice, so that sleeping Joels can't hear.]
no subject
[He gives a light shrug]
Only if I do too much of it at once, it's not anything to worry about.

Where are you hurt?
no subject
[She has a number of bumps and bruises and aches all over her body, but those are the two that keep pestering her. She can feel a swollen bump hidden under her hair, though she can't remember when exactly that happened. Her ribs are the worst--bruised and swollen under her shirt, they're not broken but if he'd kicked her tiny frame just a little harder...]
no subject
Fucked up? They're not broken, are they?
no subject
No clue. I've never broken anything before.
no subject
Take a deep breath for me and tell me if you feel a very sharp pain.
no subject
[She groans... quietly.]
More like a dull ache.
