[Closed]

Date & Time: July 11th
Location: Training hall.
Characters: Eridan & Sollux.
Summary: Eridan and Sollux are going to have a MAGIC VS PSIONICS duel because Eridan sure needs to prove himself at every turn for no good reason.
Warnings: Violence. Lazers.

Finally. For too long has he felt dealing with this ignorant lowblood been a problem he should have rectified long ago and he now had his chance. Sollux agreed to a duel, something Eridan wanted ever since their first duel so long ago, back when he relied upon his old weapon. He was defeated and humiliated, but he came back stronger and won. He beat Sollux and proved his superiority back on the meteor in the veil.

Now, though, it's the same old song and dance. Just a peasant from the past unaware of who his superior truly is, so if he has to do it all over again, to prove himself better than Sollux, so be it. He'd do it as many times as he had to. Nothing was more gratifying in his mind. He stands as a lone figure within the training hall, arms folded and wand currently held tightly between his fingers. His new wand the initiative crafted for him. He never felt so self-assured in his entire life.

He was going to make him pay.

They say 'those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it,' (-- Troll T.S. Elliot) but what do they say about idiots who know the future and allow themselves to repeat it? Probably that they deserve the culling heading for them. Sollux doesn't disagree. He deserves to be culled if he's this stupid to go through with this. He knows that wand- or rather, Eridan's "magic" burns his eyes out. He knows it kills Feferi, moments after he's knocked out.

Was he really so cocky as to think he could change the future? Probably.

Sollux approaches the training hall, Eridan (dramatic as usual) already waiting for him. He begins to wake up his psionics, and cracks his fingers to loosen them up.

"Okay. Let'th go."

"I conthidered not showing, if only to leave you hanging here." A shrug, and he's floating a few inches off the ground already, concentrating balls of energy in his hands. "But I figured then you'd get the wrong idea about me not having the globesth to do thith."

And he's not waiting this time. Sollux is striking first, the glowing orbs of energy being hurled at Eridan- one towards his shoulder and the other at his feet.

When... when the fuck could Eridan do that? Is that another power of the wand? Wow, bullshit. Not that Sollux has much time to think about said bullshit, when there's a blast of power headed for him. And of course, his first thought is to fight it, head on. Eye lasers would be the most obvious choice.

... But that would also be what Eridan is expecting. And he knows, Eridan is very, very determined in the idea that Sollux loses their fight on the meteor. How he supposedly beats him isn't mentioned, of course, aside from "wwhite science" doing in his eyes, but somehow, sticking his face in the middle of this doesn't strike him as a good idea, when this could very well be what blinds him.

It takes a huge spurt of power for him to move the fuck away from where he was in the split second he had of a reaction time, and he tumbles to the ground to dodge, scrambling back to his feet. And he turns, to see the damage left behind in wake of the white magic.
biwinning: (And he has an army of assassins.)

i'm just hitting random icon now

Sollux once again has very little time to make a decision after seeing the destruction, and turns back to Eridan in time to see another blast headed straight for him. He dives to the side to dodge, but he can't do this forever. He'll get tired before that wand ever will.

"It'th called thtrategy. Look it up." A weak retort, but he's not really feeling so great about this duel right now. There has to be a way to win this...

Sollux quickly makes up his mind, and begins to fly right towards Eridan, to close the distance between them. Okay, so this isn't a great plan he's got going, but right now, it's all he's got.

This idea was both amazingly brilliant and amazingly stupid. On the plus side, Sollux manages to get there in time to punch Eridan in the face before he fires another blast.

On the minus side, Sollux is about as strong as a wet paper bag. The punch goes through, but how much damage did it even really do?

And then that retaliation punch leads to Sollux biting his tongue, quite hard, and stumbling back a step to regain his balance. Okay, he's disoriented, but so is Eridan, to a degree. Less in pain and more in anger but what can he say? It worked. If he can just get that wand away...

Once Sollux catches himself properly aligned with the gravitational pull of the Earth, he makes a shove to get up close once again, to distract Eridan physically, while he tugs on the wand psychically, to fling it out of Eridan's grip.
biwinning: (I don't believe in panicking.)

Congrats, Eridan. It does do something. Poorly aimed is an accurate description, and while the wand is flung from Eridan's grasp, across the room, it managed to have enough precision for the edge of the blast to catch Sollux's shirt. Sollux's shirt, which is now on fire. Which is he proceeding to scream about. Being on fire is a good way to panic and completely forget about psionics, as Sollux loses his shit completely and instead tries to rip his own shirt off.
biwinning: (I’ve got tiger blood man.)

my goal is for sollux to take off his shirt every log i'm in, also how do we want this to go?

[personal profile] biwinning 2012-07-19 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
He manages to get it off soon enough that he's only lightly burned ('tis but a flesh wound) and maybe his hair just got an unexpected trimming through some close encounters to fire, but otherwise he's okay. The problem is... he doesn't know where he tossed the wand either. So instead he just opts to pluck Eridan up from his search, by the back of the shirt, and levitate him a foot into the air. If, you know, he can even get a grip on the guy.
biwinning: (I'll do a movie with you. You're awesome)

yes, okay.

[personal profile] biwinning 2012-07-23 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
"No."

Yeah, he's definitely not going to do that. That would be dumb with a capital D. Instead, he shakes Eridan a bit, but continues to keep him suspended in the air.

"I lotht a shirt becauthe of your thtupid wand. And bethidesth, now I wath going eathy on you inthtead of jutht breaking your writht or thomething." Okay, kind of lying about going easy. This wasn't an easy fight. "Next time I thee that wand though, I'm thnapping it in half."
biwinning: (I'm just giving them what they want.)

[personal profile] biwinning 2012-07-23 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, it wouldn't change anything. Jutht like it wouldn't change me continuing to break it in two ath many timesth ath I need to do tho. Maybe eventually the Initiative will get tired of giving you shit and jutht tell you to pack it up and go home for being such a utheleth little shit." Sollux drops Eridan to the floor, but keeps him pinned there, so he can't go look for the wand. "And now we've fought. And now you've lotht. And now I'm going back to the hive to eat a bowl of circle-shaped puffed oatsth. Bye."

He begins to leave the training hall, sure to keep Eridan's feet pinned at least until he's a safe distance away.
