[While she's not exactly happy to be back, Ahiru would easily admit that what she is glad for is the chance to see all the friends she'd made in this place once more. Shinji, of course, is one of those; it's hard not to become fond of someone after living with them for months, after all. So it's with excitement that she heads over to his new apartment, looking forward to speaking with him again.

She knocks on his door as soon as she reaches the correct apartment number, waiting for him to open the door.]

[Although he knew he shouldn't be, he was glad that many of his friends were coming back to Exsilium, even though a few have left. It's been a while since he's talked with Ahiru and he missed that cheerfulness she brought. The kitten toddles after him when Shinji goes for the door, stopping a distance away with its ears pricked.

He opens the door for her, smile on his face.]

Ahiru! Um, it's good to see you again.

[quackery]

[There's a grin on her face as soon as he opens the door, and she nods.]

It's so great to see you too! It's been a while.

[And she doesn't waste time after that, quickly stepping forward to give him a hug.]

[He startles a little at the hug, but he quickly relaxes. He's gotten used to these sorts of affectionate gestures and returns the hug with the lightest of touches.]

... I didn't think you'd come back.

[quackery]

[She moves away after a few seconds, brushing back a stray strand of hair.]

Neither did I! But I guess they weren't done with me yet. [Punctuated with a small laugh.]

[It was probably for the best, considering what happened during her absence. He steps back to let her in. The kitten behind him dashes away under the table.]

Come in. I'll get you something to eat.

[quackery]

[She wanders in, looking around as she enters.]

So, um, you said your roommate's name was...?

[imusntrunaway]

[He grabs some fruit from the fridge, glancing back at her question.]

Oh... Dinah and Shirley. Do you know them?

[quackery]

[She pauses to think - sometimes it's hard to recall names of the people she'd met the first time she was here, and she wants to make sure. But after a moment or two, she shakes her head. She takes a seat at the table as she answers.]

I don't think so, no. What kind of people are they?

[imusntrunaway]

[He takes care in washing up the fruit--some weird thing that looks like a banana and pineapple--and begins to cut it up. He thinks back for a moment on the living arrangements at home and here. He hasn't lived with a guy in a while...]

They've been really friendly. [He can't say much since he hasn't talked to them frequently. He turns around, sets down a plate of fruit for her.] Shirley reminds me of you a little.

[quackery]

[She looks over at his progress, curious. She can't exactly see what he's preparing.]

Do you want any help with that?

[And then a pause.]

Oh yeah? How so?

[imusntrunaway]

[He shakes his head with a smile.] It's all right. You're the guest.

[Chop chop chop.] Mm, she's just as optimistic as you are. You both have a similar way of looking at things.

[She grins; even if she's never met the girl, it's still nice to hear about someone else who can remain hopeful in a place like this.]

Good for her! She sounds nice. So you get along well, then?
