[CLOSED]
Date & Time: After this conversation.
Location: Equius's workshop
Characters: Equius Zahhak and Sollux Captor
Summary: SOS
Warnings: Cursing on Sollux's part, otherwise general arguing back and forth.
[...This is the perfect time for him NOT to get mad at Sollux ignoring all the locks on his door, because well... he can't really, get to them, to unlock them right now. The workshop is as dark and cluttered as ever. Still smells intensely like sweat and various motor oils and rust and metal, what have you. Equius's voice is coming from... in the back. Further investigation shows that his robotic hand is just not, letting go of what appear to be a part of a huge machine within the workshop. Equius- in all his wonder- managed to yank the blasted thing from it's base fixed to the floor and drag it a few feet before he got too angry to continue. And then well, had a fit and contacted Sollux.]
[He's not looking the best right now. As in, really pissed, sweating up a storm. He hasn't even tried to reprogram his hand yet, knows he'd just ruin the poor thing.]
Something a little mare expeditious, Captor.....

[Sollux continues to complain, as he heads deeper into the warehouse, following the sound of Equius' voice. And since Equius is in the farther back end, it takes him a minute or two to get there. But when he does... Wow, what a stench, on top of the obvious destruction that occurred.]
...Are you. Are you stuck?
no subject
[Equius growls, glaring from behind his glasses. He's trying so hard to get his robotic hand to let go of that blasted thing but it is just not listening.]
What does it look like. Yes. Now get your sickly mustard tush over here and reprogram it.
no subject
You somehow got your hand stuck grabbing something. What the fuck? You're really that bad at programming, you can't even insure it'll do the most basic functions? Altho my tush ithn't sickly.
[But, as he complains, he's still looking around for a screwdriver, so he can open the control panel for Equius' hand.]
no subject
gravely quiet as Sollux moves to start helping him.]
[He isn't... bad at programming, not this bad, he just- He's not used to functioning with a single hand had must've made some mistakes. He's not used to making mistakes like this either, novice mistakes, and it's only yet another reminder of all of his imperfections.]
[So he's quiet. His eyes looking a lot more pained behind his shades than Sollux will be able to see.]
no subject
And silence means defeat. And if Equius isn't fighting him... It means silence. Sollux is always aware of this, and what the little gestures Equius does mean. The same goes for Feferi, although she's a little more... complicated.
Sollux remains quiet for a few seconds, finding a screwdriver to remove the small panel. His thin fingers are perfect for this sort of stuff, as opposed to Equius' huge hands.]
Thith ith good timing, anyway. I have something I wanted to do here also.
[Said, as he finally gets the panel open to look at the wiring already in place. He has Equius' hand in both of his now, as he looks over the wires and panel.]
Did it short circuit at all, or just stop functioning altogether for no reason? Also which wire is it?
no subject
[His hand remains with a death grip on that part of the machine, metal dented it around his fingers ridiculously so. He tries to keep his focus on Sollux's hands, finding them attractive while at work.]
It was sudden, the entire thing froze in place and began clenching tighter without me saying so- no visible reason anyway... [Leans in a little, hair falling down to get in Sollux's way a bit, whoops.]
The red- there. [Gestures with his other hand.] It should stop the blood's circulation to the hand and lock it up by the wrist. [Less mess, he'd prefer not bleeding out through his robotic hand, thanks.]
no subject
Keep your greasy hair to yourself.
[And back to work, as he looks back to a desk a couple of feet away, finding a pair of small wire clippers there and lazily hovering them into his hand. Carefully, he snips the red wire. He waits for a moment, giving the blood flow time, and giving time to the hand to remove itself.]
no subject
[He'd retort but- he really knows he needs a shower about now... all that thrashing and anger didn't do him too good.]
Ha- [It feels kind of painful, the blood suddenly being stopped in his wrist, the tubing resetting a little so it directs away from his hand. A numbing sensation, prickling like when a limb falls in and out of sleep. But it's soon after that that his hand unclenches. The metal whine, pressure on it releasing and the whole thing jostles against the ground after it's left go. Fingers limp, hand the same, and Equius tries to let his shoulders relax.]

Where'th your computer...?
[He asks out loud, as he looks around. Spotting the computer relatively easily, Sollux (still holding Equius' hand) leads him over to the computer (more like pulling and dragging, if Zahhak doesn't move fast enough) and sits down. Connecting the programming wires from the back of the computer to Equius' hand is also relatively easy, and he puts both his hands on Equius' shoulders, pushing lightly for him to sit in the stood Sollux had directed him to be in front of. ]
I need to fix it this way. Sit there.
no subject
[So he follows.]
[And sits.]
[And is grumpily quiet as he watches Sollux's hands move with expertise over equipment he hasn't really done that much with yet. It's again, still something he finds attractive about the frustrating baseblood.]
Fine, just be quick about it. [Which is him saying it's okay and he trusts you. Equius speak.]
no subject
When exactly did thith thtop working? An hour ago, two?

He begins to scour the code during that portion of the hour to see how it broke, and to fix what he can of it.]
You got any robots around here? Tell them I want a soda, or something.
[Because with all he wants to do on this hand, aside from just repair the initial problem, he's probably going to be here for a bit. And so are you, Equius.]
no subject
[A few moments and a robot's standing nearby, it's red eyes dazed, glowing dimly as it stares at Sollux, holding out the can quietly to him.]
[Be here a bit, Equius isn't quite sure why exactly... fixing this issue shouldn't take too long. So after a good 20 minutes, long enough to get agitated once again.] What the dickens are you doing?
no subject
I'm making you owe me.
[ The screen flickers to another page, one without so much code, and a load bar. ]
It's updating. Don't move your hand until I say so.
[ Quickly, the load bar fills up. It completes, and all that's left to do is replace the red wire that was earlier snipped. ]
Okay. Replace your wire.
[ Because Sollux plans on sticking around to watch the result of his literal handiwork. He wasn't sure at what level of sensitivity his new added feature would need to be at to work... so he pushed it up to 11. Y'know. Just to be on the safe side. And maybe for the hilarity bonus. ]

[He watches the bar with rising anticipation before finally it's full. It took no time at all, but felt so much longer to him. Finally Equius it pulling his hand over to him, still set on the workbench top and begins to carefully do as Sollux said. But not because he said so, of course. He was to do this anyway. and it doesn't take much time either before he's welding the small end into place and shutting the hatch, screwing it tight.]
[Moments later he's feeling control come back, and that numbing feeling at his wrist dissipates. But that's-
not really where his focus is right now.]
[It's on how cold that surface top is, how smooth it feels. He just grows quiet, staring down at his mechnaical hand with his teeth clenched and nostrils flared.] What did- ha...

I wath meaning to do thith for a while.
no subject
I don't have the time for this nonsense, I have much to do.
Fix it- again. Make it not as- [A swallow, grinding his teeth. He really doesn't have time for this-]
no subject
[Unfortunate for you Equius, Sollux has all the time in the world for this. And he intends to waste his time just like this, messing with you. Feel honored. Or annoyed.]
You should be grateful. I've given you a gift.
no subject
Sensitive. [The word pours from his mouth in an almost yearning manner and he tries his best to just not... touch anything with that hand, the fingers curled in, held near his chest.]
I appreciate your expertise, Sollux, I do, but ho-neigh-stly I canter function under these colt- conditions. [UGH. ugh ughghuhuhghughu] Look, just turn it down a notch.
no subject
Sollux reaches over to Equius, and pulls at his wrist, trying to pry it away from Equius' chest.]
Give me your hand again.
no subject
Oh my God would you just stop?
no subject
Sollux snorts loudly in displeasure, as Equius refuses to uncurl his fist.]
Oh my God, would you just let me fix it, or do you want to feel like your hand is a dick forever?
no subject
[Combative stare.]
[...Okay, unclenches his fist slowly....]
