Meeting a young artisan
Date & Time: Sep 5 - Late Afternoon
Location: A small cafe just outside the Hold
Characters: Giovanni Auditore and Ella (closed)
Summary: Giovanni meets a young lady in his quest to find some one who can repair a broken hidden blade.
Warnings: None, atm
Giovanni asked for a table near the back of the small cafe where both the main door and the entrance to the kitchen could be watched. It was a habit to make certain he was aware of the comings and going of people. One never knew when trouble might present itself, especially with the local citizens so upset with the travelers.
Then he waited and watched. He was not sure when the person he had sent the message to would arrive or what they would look like but as soon as some one appeared and seemed to be looking for someone they would be waved over to his table. It was a risk to arrange a blind meeting like this but for the chance to repair his hidden blade it was a risk he was willing to take.

It didn't take her much time to spot Giovanni, waving, so she waved back before making her way there. Some heads turned, but fortunately the locals seemed to be too preoccupied with their own businesses at the moment. "Are you Giovanni?" she asked, a hand tentatively on the chair.

Still, he did stand when she approached. It would have been impolite not to.
"Giovanni Auditore." He smiled and nodded at her question. "And you must be the one with the talent to make things?"
no subject
"I think we might be a little more at ease if we get something to eat, too."
no subject
"Of course. I invited you so order what ever you would like."
Paying for the meal was the least he could do for bringing her out here on such short notice. For himself just a sandwich and that drink they called 'tea' would be enough.
Giovanni waited until they had both placed their orders and the waitress had wandered off to the back of the shop to fill them before pulling out the broken pieces of his hidden blade. He took his time unwrapping them from the length of cloth he kept them in.
The hidden blade was a unique weapon, a retractable blade was intended to slide into a protective housing that could be hidden under a bracer or sleeve. But, this one had been torn apart by a heavy impact, the blade was broken, the frame on the housing was not aligned properly and the spring like device that allowed the weapon to leave it's sheath when it was needed was in pieces. It was not able to work as it was intended any longer.
"It is a mess, I'm afraid. I do not know if anyone would be able to repair it."
He had hopes that she might be able to though!
"Have you ever seen anything like this before?"
no subject
Ella watched the device with attention, poking at the pieces. "It looks mostly complete though, so it shouldn't be too difficult. If you could show me an approximate of how it should look when it's all working well it shouldn't take me long to fix it."
And then she sipped her chocolate. Like a boss.

"I am no artist but I could maybe draw you some kind of image of what it would look like? Or would you need to see an intact piece?"
It was possible if a hidden blade could be borrowed from one of the other assassins, but them that would leave them without a valuable tool and he was not altogether sure she was trustworthy. He did not mind placing himself in possible danger to meet her like this but he would not ask one of the others to join him.
"And what would you ask in return for this work, you will want something?"
but didn't I reply...
"Drawings would help a lot. I see this is some sort of mechanism...I might need to make some test runs before the real deal, but it doesn't look too difficult." In other words, she loved the concept and that was making her all sorts of interested.
"Oh well, nothing really? Maybe you can just owe me one and we'll see what happens later."
Got lost in the inbox maybe.
With the lunch long finished Giovanni finally put the final touches of his drawing before sliding the napkin over to her.
"I am afraid this is the best I can do. I will not forget your kindness in this matter."
Or maybe I just suck >:O (also she'll talk to him once the move is done)
"I'll let you know when I have this done. And don't worry, I'm sure I'm going to need a favor sometime in the future." Because Ella had a bad case of chronic bad luck.
Good! He will need a few friendly faces when he is on the MOON!
When the waitress brought the check it was paid for just as he said it would be, including the tip which was still an odd new concept to him, but it made the lady happy so why not.
[OOC: Um... ^^"" I kind of went ahead and used the hidden blade in this mission in time log so would it be alright to assume she managed the repair before that mission? I figured she would not have too much trouble with it.]
Spaaaaaaace also yes it's cool, she'll ask if it's working well then
"Still, if you need something, I'm always around." She just hoped that statement was accurate.
Excellent. ^^ He can recommend her skills to the other assassins.
Or... if anything else should be destroyed by a heavy iron mace. One never knew what one might run into during battle.
Giovanni stood from the table and offered her a polite bow.
"And you may feel free to contact me should you ever need any help yourself."
Oh that would be the coolest gig she could get
She took the pieces and the napkin and stored them safely. This and the hydrospanner were going to keep her working for a while. Good, good.
"That's good to know, so thank you, Giovanni."
She will have to meet them some time
"Then I will say my goodbyes until we meet again."
That would be soooo cool
