Cometh the Big Crying Wheel

Location: A refurbished castle on the outskirts of Exsilium.
Characters: Anyone at the party!
Summary: Vanadi hosts a party that goes very poorly.

It’s a lovely night for a party!

The venue at the outskirts of town is, unfortunately, a bit drafty — and actually rather sparsely furnished, as well. In fact, party goers are encouraged to mingle, drink, and enjoy themselves in the courtyard, as the castle itself wasn’t able to be renovated in time, and has proven to be a little bit architecturally unsound. Any explorative guests might find a small hail of dust and pebbles on their heads if they venture too far in — and who knows what else, if they continue on.

But the drinks and snacks both are plentiful and delicious, and the large canvas set up from castle wall to castle wall keeps off the sprinkling rain. The weather could even be described as warmish and pleasant, if one were feeling generous. A group of Exiles plays classic instruments in one corner of the courtyard, having been paid enough to even smile at any Transports that wander near.

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a good night. Until about 10 PM, that is. Come 10 PM, the Misery rolls into town, tearing down the canvas, nullifying powers, and crying corrosive blood everywhere. That’s the cue for all hell to break loose, as the final wave of mind-controlled characters snag their victims and make for the hills — or at least for the UE. The mind-controlled characters will also have the backup of a squadron of 20 of the Masked, the UE's special ops force. The Masked's main goal is to grab those on their list and get away, but they're certainly not above shooting to kill at anyone that gets in their way. They're also highly trained in hand-to-hand combat and physically enhanced by their suits, so they're a good bunch to try to avoid.

[The hair fools people sometimes. Probably the skinny waist and pale complexion, too. But when Stanley turns, eyebrow quirks, it's obvious he's not likely who this dude expected. He smiles anyway, tone light and good natured.]

You don't want that. I'm a toe tripper.

Not at all. It wouldn't bother me.

[He holds an equally kind smile, with his hand still outstretched. Keith figured he would show the young man some of the ropes of dancing.]

[Stan shrugged and took the guy's hand. Hey, he warned him. ]

[Keith took him out to an open space, one hand going on Stan's shoulder and the other clasping their hands together.]

Let's start with something easy.

Good plan.

[Stanley doesn't object to the dancing position as much as he simply puzzles over it. Dude, what are you doing? Is this how people waltz? It's ...touchy. And not even fun touchy. Which is probably for the best, considering this guy isn't exactly his type.

Maybe just once he should've let Michelle and Daisy drag him to a dance in middle school.]

[It was slow, but slow so that Stan wouldn't falter much. There was nothing wrong with it to him, even spicing it up by letting go of one hand to twirl around the other.]

Not so bad, is it?

[Stanley smiles at the twirling, evidently not particularly uncomfortable himself. But he's only half following as far as this dancing stuff goes. Probably because he's a little distracted. And it's definitely not the style he's used to dancing in.]

I dunno, but so far no crushed toes. It's a promising start.

I don't think you could hurt me anyway.

[He clinged his boots together to make a metallic sound to demonstrate. Keith's more confident in the dance, as he's taken the lead.]

What's your name, sir?

Stanley. Sup?

[The "sir" is weird and formal, but this dude is probably from somewhere that people sir people more often or something.]

Keith Goodman at your service. Nice to meet you at this fine gathering.

Uh huh.

[Actually, he just got done complaining to a friend about how this party blows. But hey, no need to be a dick.]

Where'd you learn ballroom dancing?

[Assuming this really is a Waltz, and that waltzes are a ballroom style of dance. He might be wrong about that, though.]
