Summary: The Transports are evacuating to the Moon Base. Those on the Moon Base try to settle in and figure out their next move. Setting info can be found here.

The Hold is a flurry of activity, grim faced members of the Initiative group directing supplies and people with the subdued air of people facing their own doom, and wondering at how to process the knowledge. None of the Initiative appears unaware of what will happen; their eyes linger on the Transports, expressions pleading, hopeful, doubtful, or immeasurably sad in turn.

Every eight hours, the space ship is sent back up with a load of people and supplies. The pilots are worked until they can't; the AI stolen ages ago by the Initiative greets and corrals people and supplies at both ends, and in the middle step between.

The network continues to broadcast on narrow channels between the Moon Base and Exsilium, up until the time that all connections are lost, with the carrier located en route to Exsilium. The first airship will pass by without dropping anything, but it's too early to celebrate. At a six hour delay from behind, the second airship arrives, and with it, the dark promise of the Black Code's nuclear weaponry.

The six hour window allows for time for those left behind, either by choice or circumstance, to be pulled to the Moon Base with the successful activation of the Transport Pad. New characters will ultimately arrive with the remainder of those not yet on the Moon Base, all in time to witness the explosive contact of the nuclear warhead with the ground of Exsilium live on satellite.

But until then, there's only the hurry, the silence, and the potential for full out rioting should the Transports spread word to the Exiles inevitably left behind to face this fate.

Precisely. He is great admirer of modern sciences. As far as he is concerned, all phenomena can be explained by such things as atoms.

[She chuckles.]

I met a man like that once. He tried to prove that my powers were some sort of parlor trick.

Ah, I do not believe young master would go as far as long as you were not harming anyone else. [That said, he would judge you a lot.]

Well, then he at least has some sense.

[senseandcecilbility]

Oh, he has a lot of sense. [He offers her a shy smile.] He is not here, fortunately.

I see. That does seem fortunate. [She pauses, not quite sure what you're supposed to say next, in this sort of situation.] ...You seem fond of him.

[He is Kevin's most importance person and it breaks his heart to be away from him, yesss. He also fears the demons might use the opportunity to claim the boy's soul.]

Ah, I have been around since he was a little boy. Young master lost his parents too early, so I believe we became... a family of sorts.

[And that definitely reminds her of Steiner. She pauses for a moment, unsure if this is too personal or not, but decides to go ahead and say it.]

I was raised by my parents' butler after they died, too. I guess we'd have a lot in common.

[They are both Batman! Kevin stares at her with new eyes and a rather bittersweet smile.]

The poor man must miss you so.

[The irony that this lady does for a living exactly what young master was supposed to do - but probably never will - is not lost on him.]

Mm...I miss him, too.

[Then she softly smiles at him.]

I'm sure your master misses you as well.

[He sits back with a somewhat smug smile on his face. ]

Ah, in fact, I have good news for you.

Good news?

Ah yes. My source is someone who has been here for much longer than both of us. It might sound a little bizarre but...time in this realm is very relative. The Initiative is supposed to return its Transports to the exact same time and place they left.

If that is really true, your faithful servant would have no cause for concern.

[And my young master would not be seduced by demons. ]

[She breathes a sigh of relief.]

That is good news. Thank you.

[Kevin blushes a little. He cannot forget how grateful he felt when Collette told him about Exsilium’s time skip tendencies. He had been worrying about young master so much he almost cried like a child.]

I thought so too and...well, worth sharing.

Mm. It makes figuring out what I should do here easier. At least I don't have to worry about home. [Or about the trail going colder than it already is.]

I believe, madam, that saving Exsilium from its dreadful fate is a good start, at least for me.

[He picks up the tumbler Chrono knocked off the table, looking rather pale with the effort.]

They are my not so distance cousins, as I am certain you already guessed.

Cousins? [She pauses, thinking through that.] You mean...it's in England?

[senseandcecilbility]

[He nods as he stands up to pour coffee for himself. It is, of course, merely an excuse to turn his back on her.]

Yes, madam. One possible England.

[rittersjuwel]

I see. I'm...I'm sorry to hear that. [The idea of a "possible" England is hard for her to grasp, but she can relate to it in a way--hearing of The Great War and the aftermath in Germany was difficult when she was so far away from her homeland.]

[senseandcecilbility]

[Kevin knows nothing about the Great War, or Great Wars, for that matter. His Germany is becoming increasingly powerful and even a little scary. Just like the angel who favors that new nation: Metatron.]

It is a little too much to absorb on a single day, isn't it?[He has even met a second Lucifer, which has hinted at the possibility of a second God!] I advise you to take your time, madam.

Thank you. I'll do my best to pace myself.

[She sighs, glancing at the cafeteria exit.] I suppose I should go try to find that boy...

[He would hardly refer to Chrono as "that boy". Impure spirit, perhaps, or creature of the darkness. Still, he promised Rosette he would keep his mouth shut.]

Naturally.

[Perhaps the nice lady will finally exorcise him.]
