found you [OPEN]
Date & Time: Sept 30 - Oct 6
Location: all over the danged moonbase
Characters: Martin, all sorts of folks
Summary: He's not a lion he can talk to people now
Warnings: BUH...

Martin had barely found his footing on solid ground before it was settled on stranger tiles. Yet stranger things had, and would happen, wouldn't they? He stressed little on his own behalf, only wincing and worrying on behalf of others. His friends...the old and new. He couldn't have warned them, could he? Not with the deal he had made. Simply being around others turned out to not be enough.
And those others...He couldn't wait to see them. To speak to them! To understand, better than what a cat's ears and nose could spell out, how they've endured. The scale and scope of their stay in this place still hadn't wholly formed in his mind, still so used to working step by step, piece by piece.
He wandered, often too brisk, at times distracted by the sights outside, and sought those familiar things out. The nature of the base only frightened him for moments, easily forgotten in the face of what he was really after.

Where are they?

something like that.
his hands settle over hers and the gem, sucking in a quick breath at the shock...because the light-in-a-dark tunnel metaphor isn't something that really conveys the impact.
his eyes light up, wide and gold, and the rest of himself manifests, lifting off his skin like steam. it's very different than being summoned, where he leaves his flesh entirely...so he's surprised on a number of levels.
there's him, sitting there. there's the lion at his side with burning eyes. there's the man lingering overhead behind them, patient and kind, smiling.
his voice is internal and external.] This makes more sense now...! [smiling at her:] Madoka...you're beautiful!
no subject
she wasn't so sure why Martin would want to see her soul gem but she definitely wasn't expecting anything to happen, especially not something like this. for a moment all Madoka can do is stare, wide-eyed and confused by the sight before her.
his voice causes her to glance around, almost confused for a moment before she looks back. her face flushing slightly at the statement, but the confusion never quite leaves her expression. ]
A-ah... Martin?
no subject
I...I meant... [exactly that, but. his mouth twitches and he shakes his head of some of the daze his giddiness is causing.
the looming figure settles a hand on the back of the boy's head, and that seems to steady him. he lets out a bit of a sigh, fingers squeezing slightly on her hands.]
I didn't mean to get carried off like that, is what I mean. You've been telling me all these hard, important things, after all...and they matter a lot. [smiling.] It makes me really happy...that you trust me enough to tell me. And that you can see me like this, simply because you're you.
no subject
Don't worry, it's okay and of course I trust you. I trust you so much... I...
[ a sudden sigh but she continues to smile, squeezing her hand around his and the gem. Madoka moves to stand as she talks, the gem between their hands seems to melt away as she finishes and covers in a soft pink link light.
when it fades, she isn't standing in her usual magical girl entire. instead, it's changed to the look she wore earlier in the year. her hair seems to float freely along with the ends of her dress, the fabric reflecting a view of space and stars not unlike the view outside the observatory window. even her eyes have changed, to a shade of gold not unlike Martin's own.
again, she squeezes his hand and grins with a laugh. as if she's just found the most obvious of answers, and to be honest... she has. ]
I trust you with my life. After all... don't you know how important you are to me?

he smiles wider as much in spite of that as he does for the words he hears, all the earnestness and meaning behind them passing from her to him. with a part of him still very human, all those things hit him in very profound, palpable ways: good chills, a turning in his stomach, blood rushing up to his face.
awestruck, smitten, grateful and adoring, Martin bows his head, kissing her fingers.]

although Madoka reaches up, touching the white ribbons now adoring her hair, she pulls it loose but one of her familiar red ribbons appears in her hand instead. carefully, she reaches down and begins to tie it around one of his wrist of the hand she held and carefully finishes it with a small bow. ]
Now... no matter what happens, even if you happen to vanish from my sight again. I will always know how to find you.

slowly, as if moving too fast would break the spell of the moment, Martin turns his hand and tilts his wrist – doing so lifts his fingers further from the soul gem they were cupped around. it makes the two exposed facets of himself diminish in vibrancy even as they linger; the man, smiling, bowing his head to accept her words and the lion's gaze fixed and unwavering, even while fading. present still, but giving Martin-the-boy dominance again.
he doesn't seem to notice, save for an extra slow breath drawing in, bracing against the feeling of space emptying behind him. something like this...it's like his medallion, he realizes.
his eyebrows shoot up, surprised at that.
This is like how it was supposed to be...back when I was a Darkov.
his mouth quirks, an awe-filled half-smile. funny how these things come around.
the smile fades to something more worried as he looks back at her, a new thought forming.]
But...I can't give you one in return. Like this. [his fingers graze the ribbon just before the knot.] My door's already...
no subject
the bunch of hair usually held up on the left side of her head by her ribbon now falls in a mess in her hair and past her shoulders, but Madoka can only laugh and shake her head. ]
You've already given me so much though. Especially today, I was scared that I would spend another birthday in tears but then I saw you and... [ she sighs and sighs again. ] Just continue to be the same Martin that I know and that will be more than enough.
no subject
Birthday...? [beat.
his eyes go big.] That's the–! That's what you gave me before, isn't it? Yours is now?
