[Perhaps the refrigerator cycled at the exact same moment that someone started reheating some of that sorry excuse we have for moon food. Maybe at that exact moment, the power grid strained from bringing another section of the base into life supporting function. Maybe at that exact moment ALL OF THOSE THINGS HAPPENED AT ONCE.


Whatever actually happened, the lights flicker and go dark, leaving only the hallway illumination, and your stomach twists as gravity loses a bit of a grip on you.

You're not FLOATING, but neither are you quite as heavy as you used to be.]

[Well she WAS inching towards a ... actually she's not sure WHAT it is, other than it was supplied for consumption. Gruel maybe? She's never SEEN gruel but it looks accurate to what she supposes gruel might look like.]

You have a lot of experience with those?

Mmm. They're common where I come from, but that seems rare.

[After hitting a wall, she finally starts a downward descent.]

I've fought some before and worked with some before. Depends on who was paying the most at the time.

[She scoots over for her, hooking a foot under the bench to keep from floating up.]

Are you a mercenary or a bounty hunter?

Mercenary is a good word for it! I've never really done bounty hunting.

[Not so gracefully hitting bottom level but at least she's smart enough to grab on so she doesn't bounce off.]

Huuuhhh, that's hard work.

Mm. Bounty hunting really only works in really desperate times. At least in civilized areas.

If you take the hard jobs, you only have to work everyone once in a while because it pays so much.

[Her attempt to lean on one elbow ends with a bit of surprise and her having to grab the edge of the table again.

After a moment of COMPOSURE!! she considers Kris again.]

So you can choose jobs... Do you have preferences? [Morally is left unspoken.]

It's like...hmmm, what's the word people use? It's the thing where you decide the risk and how much it costs and pick the one that seems like the best deal.

RIGHT! Now's the time for making random strangers perform acrobatics and then possibly actually working on fixing this.
