A bit of whimsy
Date & Time: October 5th, Evening
Location: The cafeteria
Characters: OPEN TO ALL
Summary: MOONWALKING!!/The gravity breaks for an hour
Warnings: NONE
[Perhaps the refrigerator cycled at the exact same moment that someone started reheating some of that sorry excuse we have for moon food. Maybe at that exact moment, the power grid strained from bringing another section of the base into life supporting function. Maybe at that exact moment ALL OF THOSE THINGS HAPPENED AT ONCE.
Whatever actually happened, the lights flicker and go dark, leaving only the hallway illumination, and your stomach twists as gravity loses a bit of a grip on you.
You're not FLOATING, but neither are you quite as heavy as you used to be.]
What on Earth?

What on Earth?
no subject
Even? Even how?
[ The tea continues to dribble off the table in large, spherical, lazily falling droplets. Some of it might be heading for Rosette's feet. ]
no subject
I know, the sheer scope of my generosity is astounding, given the insults and insinuations but-
[And wet boots are TERRIBLY annoying. She jumps back, making a face.]
Oh geez!
no subject
Don't know what you're fretting about.
[ Force of habit: he reaches in his pockets for candy, but comes up empty. He makes a pitiful face and bounces on his heels in irritation. This sends him up and down several feet until he finally stops. ]
Unless of course, this business--
[ A vague gesture about all the floatiness. ]
--means this moon base is about to break down, or something.
no subject
I hadn't thought of that. [And it IS getting dreadfully cold around the edges of the room. HATE YOUR BONES kind of cold.]
There's still lights on out there.
no subject
[ He'll take your word for it. ]
Well - at least if we float away into space and freeze our deaths, we'll all be brightly lit~!
[ His manner is cheerful; but he feels that cold too, and can't suppress a shudder. ]
no subject
Yeessss, it's the only light.
[But now that he's brought it up...]
I'll be right back. I'm going to see how things are outside of the room.
no subject
Why, d'you mean to make me wait here and miss out on all the fun?
[ --and bounces up again, falling into step beside her. ]
Maybe a moon man is trying to get in~!
no subject
Don't even joke! This is a classic science fiction horror setup. Next thing you know, people are going to turn into terrible hunter monsters!
[She is, at least, getting used to this odd hopping walk... In time for the gravity to take a handhold on her as they enter the hallway.]
1/2
Ugh!
[ He actually goes down to one knee. He grimaces for an instant (ow), before he pops up, smiling brightly once more. ]
A hunter monster? Dear me, I think you're being awfully dramatic and--
2/2
EEEERRRRRGHHHHH~!
Come here, my pretty~! ♥
[ Who knows what a terrible hunter monster is, but he's going to give it his best shot. ]
no subject
And that that was certainly not a shriek. Certainly not.
There is, however, her fist.]
no subject
Indignant ladies delivering much-deserved smackdowns are another matter. ]
Aaaah!
[ That was a shriek. Down he goes! ]
no subject
HONESTLY!
no subject
Miss Rosette, really, I--
[ As he stands, one foot goes back into the moon-gravity zone. He teeters a little, and finds his balance - and then steps with his other foot into the earth-gravity hallway. ]
Ah--
[ Back and forth he steps and hops, from one zone to the other. It's a little dance. ]
Haha~!
no subject
.... She really can't help but laugh a little bit.]
You're right off your gourd, aint you?
no subject
Mad as a hatter!
However - given that we're all living on the moon, anybody who claims to be completely sane is telling a story~!
no subject
[Her step back over that invisible threshold isn't nearly as graceful, still stepping a bit too hard when the ground isn't there at the same timing it should have been.]
HUP- Or if they did, they wouldn't be for very long.
no subject
[ He hears that stumble, and actually puts out his hand for her to take. ]
So this bounciness ends right here, hm? And you say the lights are on...
That suggests it's not the whole moon base that's having problems, but just this part.
no subject
[She takes his hand. It's such a well polished, simple reflex, that she hardly realizes she'd done it. The other half is that distracting bit of information...
She waves her hand in front of his face.]
no subject
[ A pause; he can hear the change in her tone, and sense her movements. He squeezes her hand. ]
My, myyy~! You're smarter than you look!
no subject
Still, as he leads her back, she can't help but marvel a bit how simply... natural it all looked, supernatural really. She simple settles it with the assumption that another power is at work, or he was blind from birth.]
One of the guys here has been working on the panels outside... so there's that.
no subject
Outside? Outside the moonbase? How on earth? Haha--how on the moon, I mean~!
[ He still can't quite face the prospect of telling people, however. But he has resolved, at least, to stop hiding it. ]
no subject
There are special suits to survive out there. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there were people who could... I mean, I've meet dragons here. They're going to let me borrow them when they're done.
no subject
[ He flails and giggles at being poked, just like a creeper. You're welcome. ]
And clockwork men, so I understand. [ This would be the extent of his knowledge of robotics. ] Although I imagine their gears would freeze up or something. I hear it's terribly cold outside.
[ It isn't lost on him, the way she has taken this revelation about him in stride. This is the way most people have reacted, he realizes wryly.
Well - except for Kevin. He'd been a bit dramatic - but when is the man not dramatic, honestly? ]
