Summary: Ellie's hangin' around, totally over this moon business.

a. the cafeteria
[Ellie sits at one of the tables in the cafeteria, a pyramid of upside-down cups stacked in front of her. It's certainly not the sturdiest of structures, but she's spent some time on it, and she's vaguely proud of her accomplishment. They only clattered to the floor once or twice.

Now that she's done, she leans back and slides down a few inches in her seat. Well. That killed twenty minutes.

She reaches out a hand to slowly nudge one of the cups at the bottom corner of her pyramid. That might be loud if she keeps going.]

b. the observatory
[Space is cool. It kind of makes her feel like she's falling when she looks out the window or through any screens, but she keeps coming back to the observatory to do just that. She's not sure if she likes that feeling or not. The wasteland where Exsilium once was is still visible, but Ellie doesn't seem to pay it much mind right now. She's lying on her back on the floor, sneakers propped up against a wall, comic book held over her face.

Every now and then she makes some sort of noise. This comic is so intense.]

It's pretty cool, right? But still — that must've taken some work to make.

More like some boredom. It's like there's nothing to do but go on missions or hang out in that VR room.

[She sighs, looking at her cups, then at one of the walls.]

I miss going outside.

[velveteened]

( he drops his eyes for a moment when she looks away — he does too, but it's one of those things he's kept himself from articulating; and there have been a lot of those lately in particular. )

Do you like to read?

[vaccination]

Yeah. Love to. Read all the time, at home.

[Sure, it might have been the same books over and over when she couldn't find anything new, but she still enjoyed it.]

This. If comics count. Which they totally do.

[Aside from her joke books, they were all she had to read while on the road with Joel. She was always so pleased every time he found another one for her to go over.]

They definitely do!

( not that he's read so many himself, but his favorite book series also comes with illustrated editions, so you know why not. )

Did you know there are books you can read on your tablet?

Uhh--the informational stuff?

[Her tablet is relatively unexplored, because technology is still sort of crazy to her. She's impressed that she can text like a normal person.]

( coming from a pseudo-victorian timepoint, the tablet and even texting took him a while to work out )

No, real books! Novels and short stories and even poetry.

[vaccination]

Yeah? Uhh... where?

[She doesn't wanna break anything!]

I can send some to you! Your tablet can store them.

( just don't ask him where or how. )

My roommate had downloaded a lot of electronic books from the library a while ago.

Yeah? That would be cool. I didn't know we could get stuff like that on our tablets...

I didn't either for a long time. Is there any kind of genre you like best?

[vaccination]

I like action adventure sorta stuff. Anything without heavy romance. [Booooring.]
