[OPEN!] glamaphonic, electronic, d-d-disco baby
Date & Time: October 15th-20th
Location: Cafeteria, wandering the halls,
Characters: Dist and YOU
Summary: You know what this moon base needs? More elegance.
Warnings: Questionable morals, lipgloss, will update as necessary.
A]
Dist is eating alone. Well, he's been used to it for a while now. Sometimes, honestly, he prefers it that way. These oafs were just jealous of him! They couldn't comprehend his genius! That was it, certainly.
He's sitting at a table, chewing gingerly on a protein bar. He supposed it could be WORSE- at least it has a mildly pleasant flavor. Oddly, years of military school, and then in Daath, meant he wasn't the pickiest eater when push came to shove.
Come enjoy a meal with Dist, Exsilium. It's like a date but way more terrible.
B]
If a casual conversation over lunch (dinner? whatever) isn't your cup of tea, rest assured that Dist is roaming the hallways. You get three guesses what he's looking for, but he's mumbling to himself, and at one point, he stops and paces for a few minutes in front of a large window showcasing the outside.
"...if I could isolate that frequency...hm...that doesn't account for temperature...but the third fonon...then perhaps the fifth...hmmmm..."
He spends a fair deal of time wandering the halls muttering to himself about fonons and things like that. It certainly helps with him image as the most sane scientist on this base, doesn't it?

yeah no you're right. /spins on heel and walks away.
And then it happens. Blinking openly, his words trail off. How this person could be so busy with something else is a complete mystery to Asbel. He's alone, right? Just to be absolutely sure, he glances around the table one more time as if piles of paper or business associates might have suddenly appeared.
But he just received an invitation and standing there staring like an idiot would be pretty rude of him.
"Thanks, I appreciate it." Or so he hopes. Asbel sets the items down on the table and takes a seat across from this very flashy, self-important person.
"So, um, what exactly are you working on, sir?"
a good choice tbh
"I am always working! Unlike a common simpleton, my brain is always occupied with something."
The smile fades to a satisfied smirk as he takes the last bite of his food. He pulls a small compact from his pocket, opening it and observing himself in the small mirror before pulling lipstick from another pocket and reapplying that. When he speaks, he's still looking at himself in the mirror.
"But you must be desperate to know! I suppose if you ask me nicely, I'll tell you."
He snaps the compact closed and smiles.
no subject
So he must be working out problems in his head. That explains it. But you know, there's something oddly familiar about the gestures and the hair-flipping. Of course, the variation Asbel's grown accustomed to is a little more, hmmm...graceful?
He can, however, confidently say this is the first time he's watched a grown man apply lipstick in public. And because it seems like it might take awhile, Asbel will go ahead and start eating, effectively splitting his attention. He's getting kind of hungry, truth be told.
"Well, I was a little curious, I guess. But if you don't really want to talk about it, then..."
no subject
He smiles, tucking the mirror back into a suit pocket.
"I was thinking of devising a device that would allow someone to breathe outside of this..." He gestures with a gloved hand. "Moon base or whatever."
A smile.
"I almost have it all worked out! Of course, I know they have something like that, but it truly lacks elegance."
no subject
"You're making something like that?" He sounds a bit incredulous, even leaning forward a bit now, "So, if it'll allow people to breathe, will it also keep them safe while they're outside?"
Asbel doesn't know how to explain this scientifically, since the theory's confusing enough as it is (they seriously just walked right out onto Fodra without problems), but he'll gesture vaguely with his hands.
"You know, so they won't...explode? It has something to do with space being empty, right?"
no subject
"Their equipment here is rudimentary, at best. I aim to improve on it with elegance."
no subject
"Yeah...you actually said that once already. So just how are you going to make it more elegant?" It's a reasonable question, he thinks.
no subject
He grins.
no subject
"Do you mind if I ask what fonons are, though?"
no subject
"They're particles aligned with certain elements."
no subject
"I get it. So in other words, they're kind of like eleth. And you think there are enough fonon particles in this..." Not world, at least not anymore... "In this...space? To create a field for everyone?"
no subject
"Though, not for everyone." He shook his head. "I would only expect such a device to function on one person, individually. I could make more than one, but there might be limits for the raw materials here."
no subject
"So you've already got the resources to make one device, but wouldn't you have to make more than that? You know, at least two? It could be dangerous to send someone out there all by himself. If something went wrong, there'd be no one nearby to help him."
