Date & Time: October 18th~20th
Location: New York City, circa 1910ish
Characters: Sora (heartstorage) and Roxas (otherness)
Summary: Sora and his other half do a bunch of minigames in NYC in order to complete this sidequest.
Warnings: None.


[Roxas tilts his head back, taking in the sight of the large city. It's definitely busier and smokier than The World That Never Was. It's a little darker despite being daytime, due to the lack of neon lights. It's also not quite as beat-up. Did the Organization's old base begin as a world like this? He wonders, but there isn't much time to deliberate. They only have a little time here to gather supplies for the base. There are people depending on them back home. People... who aren't there anymore, who should have been.

He moves to step across the street and nearly gets run over by a Model T. The horn blares, startling him back onto the sidewalk, and he falls.]

Whoa!

HEY KID, WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOIN'!

[Aaaand then the man angrily drives off, leaving Roxas dazed and confused. Good thing he's not alone.]

[Nope, he's definitely not alone. And so while Roxas is dazed and confused, Sora will take on the very important task of yelling angerily at the car driving off]

YOU'RE THE ONE WHO SHOULD WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING, YOU JERK!

[But it's too bad the guy has sped away off and not paying attention at all]

Jeez, that guy...!

[Oh right, he looks over at Roxas]

You okay?

[Roxas shakes it off and gets to his feet.]

Yeah, I'm fine. I wasn't expecting that, though. I mean, they could've warned us.

[Never mind that the Initiative is short on staff these days.]

So, where should we start?

[heartstorage]

Seriously!

[Then again it's not like he ever gets warned what he's going into for a new world]

Well, uh...we're here for supplies right? Did they give you any munny?

[otherness]

[Roxas turns out his pockets.]

... Nope. I'm broke. What about you?

[heartstorage]

[shakes his head]

I got nothing.

Now what do we do?

[otherness]

[He glances upward and makes a similar face.]

Well... I guess we can take some summer jobs.

[heartstorage]

Summer jobs?!

But don't those take a whole summer?! We don't have time for that!

[otherness]

[Roxas assumes a thinking pose.]

This place is pretty busy. There has to be something we can do to make a little munny. And with both of us working together, it'll go twice as fast.

[He smiles gently, but it's also a touch sad at the edges.]

C'mon, Sora. Can't let everyone else do the work this time.

[heartstorage]

Hey. I do lots of work!

[Rude, but he isn't really that offended. Maybe he'd even laugh if you weren't giving him a depressing smile]

But alright, let's go look. Maybe there's a job board somewhere!

A job board? Yeah, that's a good idea.

[Off they go, then. This time, Roxas is careful to look both ways before crossing the busy New York street.]

It is my favorite icon in the WORLD

[And he follows after. Man, there are so many people in this place! Maybe this is what the other worlds looked like before they got eaten by heartless.]

Everything seems so busy- I wonder what cool stuff they have to do here.

[..........yeah he may be already getting distracted]

[OTHERSELF, YOU NEED TO STOP.]

We'll have to find out later. I doubt we could afford anything really interesting, anyway.

[He spots a kid about their age peddling newspapers.]

Uh, hey. Is there a job board somewhere? We're looking for work.

[The kid looks them both over, then gives them directions to one of the bigger buildings a couple blocks away-- the news, of course. It's a big thing.]

[heartstorage]

[COME ON OTHERSELF WHERE IS YOUR SENSE OF ADVENTURE]

Oh- right. Heh heh.

[He'll smile at the kid when while Roxas talks to him, and is definitely happy to hear that hey there could be jobs! Maybe this wouldn't be so hard]

Alright, thanks! We'll check it out!

[So darting off to do just that.]

[The sense of adventure went with your half, that's what.

Roxas is a little spacy still, but he realizes Sora's running off ahead and soon takes off after him.]

So, I guess we'll just pass out newspapers until we can afford some supplies. What I'd give for a skateboard right now...

[he slowed a little when he realized Roxas wasn't right behind him. Guess they aren't racing today]

Me too, but- [Glancing around!] I don't see any lying around.

[Because that's how you find skateboards you know]

But we'll make it work! Don't worry!
