open log » ❝ The VR Program ❞

Date & Time: August 5th, mid morning.
Location: Anywhere characters happen to be/the VR.
Characters: Everyone.
Summary: From August 5th to August 8th, characters are plunged involuntarily into the VR Program.
Warnings: Potential violence within the threads.

When the chance arises, she's quick to take it. The programming is incomplete, she knows; the simulation isn't ready — but she's not likely to get another shot at it. And so she moves, slipping through security codes to input the command. The machines hum to life with nothing but a flicker of a green light in a dark room, and it takes only seconds to establish connections. The signal is sent out; the weapons respond.

In a single pulse, reality drops away.

There will be darkness at first as the mind realigns itself to the signals being sent it. Slowly, the darkness fades, forms take shape. People take shape. The setting is terribly familiar, plucked from the user's own mind. It might feel like a dream at first, with events playing out as if predestined, the would-be dreamer moving through a familiar and unalterable route in them. But as things begin to feel more and more realistic, as more senses more fully connect to the simulation, awareness will change. This is not a dream. This is more than a memory.

Welcome to the VR.

Only 20 minutes later, in some underground quarters, Doctor Sponde is roused from an undignified sprawl. He's hastily briefed and shuttled toward the command center, looking grim. He knows the problem demands an immediate fix, but… well, this is some complex machinery. It could take some time. It could take days. He gets to work.

Enjoy that intense static and shock in exchange for touching him.

"DON'T. Touch me."

Yeah, think you got the picture, Rin?
payback: (peek; ceiling Madara...?)

Electricity snapped to her hands and Rin jerked back with a muffled yelp, falling gracelessly right on her ass. "Sorry!" The word squeaked out tearfully. "Sorry!" Then she didn't know what to do and scrambled around to crouch on her haunches, watching fearfully.

Once the item is on the alchemiter, it begins to do it's work, and makes his entry item: a flashlight. Or... a handheld tubular lighting device, depends on who's saying it. He reaches over painfully to grab it, and finally relaxes once it's in hand.

"It'th okay. It'll be over in a thecond."

He flicks the flashlight on, and everything goes white. A few seconds later, the light dies down, but the setting has completely changed. Outside of his hive, everything is made of. Well. Brains. Fiery brains. It honestly looks kind of gross. Meanwhile, Sollux lies dead on the floor.
payback: (uncertain; what I know I don't know.)

She had no idea in the slightest what was going on. The surroundings were too surreal to even deal with. Instead, Rin went to her knees next to Sollux, hovering over him in terror without touching. She wasn't sure if he was dead or not. She wasn't sure if he'd shock her again if she touched her or not, so she just hung over him in an agony of indecision, unable to decide what to do.

Some more blood drools out of his mouth, but he eventually wakes with a start, eyes flying open and WOW YOU ARE UP IN IS FACE.

"AUGHghk - " Rin fell gracefully backwards onto her ass, swiping at her face frantically and scrambling to get farther away from Sollux.

"What the HELL?"

The brief rant went by in a rush of lisping and disses. Rin scrambled backwards on her ass, wiping at her face, and shrieked back at him, voice eeking up with upset. "Well excuse me for getting upset coming across a guy spewing blood everywhere! For having done that you seemed awfully loopy too!"

She scrambled back until she ran into something, and then sort of heaved herself to her feet. It was hard - she still felt shaky. "I'll just leave."
