who let the dogs out
Date & Time: Today!
Location: Around the moonbase.
Characters: Ren and YOU
Summary: Robot puppies doing robot puppy things. Ren is making maps and trying to be more than a dog.
Warnings: Cute puppies with grossly deep voices and wearing hoodies. Aka no warnings for now.
[a. virtual simulation room]
[Ren is loitering around outside of one of the virtual simulation rooms. Every so often he approaches it before doubling back to where he started. He looks like a dog that's trying to go beyond his bounds, which is a little what it's actually like. He knows he has the freedom to do what he likes, he's not really 'owned' by someone, even if Aoba is technically his master. It's complicated. Getting used to breaking a routine where he's always at Aoba's side and always doing as Aoba says is... Well, it's a little difficult. He'd like to go in and train but he's never exactly done it alone before. And while he doesn't need someone to train with, he still finds himself walking in circles in front of the room while looking for other people that might be interested. Perhaps he won't feel so out of place if he has someone else there.]
[b. hallways and everywhere else]
[Old habits die hard. Ren is used to being a GPS, and he's used to having maps of everything programmed into him. But seeing as there aren't any maps to this place, Ren's manually making his own, coding it into his memory and labeling everything. He looks like a dog wandering aimlessly instead of with any sort of mission in mind. He's at least polite enough to not try popping into people's rooms to get layouts of every single room, but he does stop at every door to record the number, the distance to the next door, etc. In large rooms like the cafeteria and the observatory, he paces from one side of the room to the next and then down the adjacent wall, head down and tail flicking idly while he measures. Ren isn't without manners though, even with his task, he'll still greet anyone he comes by with a deep, mechanical "hello". It's part of his duty to be welcoming to other Transports, right? His own personal task doesn't take precedence over a promise he made to someone else.]

cutedog in front of the virtual simulation rooms. Flynn meant to practice a bit in the virtual simulation room but now he's curious... was the dog's master inside?Flynn can't remember the place banning animals, exactly....
Anyway, he approaches the dog and kneels in front of it to, maybe, pet it. ]
Is your friend inside?
[ Not that he expects it to answer verbally but he'd always spoken to Repede before and Repede seemed to understand anyway... ]
no subject
No one is inside this virtual simulation room at this time. I was considering using it.
no subject
But he supposes that kind of thing is normal here. After a short moment, he regains his composure... ]
I... see. I planned to use it myself. Is it- are dogs not allowed inside?
[ It'd be a shame if he wasn't allowed. What did he want to use it for anyway? ]

Hello. You are shivering. Is your health okay?

[ She's near entirely sure she's gone mad. That has to be the explanation for a talking animal in front of her. She must admit she hasn't been eating or resting as well as she could be, and it must have taken a toll, but it's been a while since she's gotten to the point of actual hallucinations. ]
I don't think so.

Mana~, where did you go?
[Saori turned the corner and saw her cat. To Mana 's dismay, she picked him up. Her attention turned to Ren.]
I'm so sorry. He wasn't bothering you, was he?
no subject
He focuses his attention on Saori instead. This must be his "owner".]
No, he was not bothering me. It is natural for cats to be curious.
no subject
You got a point there.
I've seen my share of talking animals before but nothing like you before. My name's Saori. What's yours?

What, Garuda, what are you--ah. [He stops, looking down, then at the bird. Ren might recognize it--it's been flying through the halls on what's clearly a patrol schedule since they arrived here. Haruto laughs, and plucks the bird's claws out of his cardigan sleeve before he kneels.]
Garuda seems interested in me saying hello, so. Hello. [He looks at the door.] D'you... need a hand getting in? [He recognizes Ren from the network as a transport, not a pet, though they've never spoken.]
no subject
[There's a hum and Ren tilts his head toward the bird.]
That is similar to an All Mate. Is it common where you're from?
no subject
Who, Garuda? Not really. [The bird rests on the back of his palm, over his knuckles.] I have a few others--they're magical familiars. Called a PlaMonster.
[A beat.] Are you common where you're from?
(no subject)
sorry, notif got lost!
no problem! i was on vacation anyway :)

Which is neither here nor there, actually. What is is there's a dog hanging out in front of the simulation rooms. Dirk stops in his tracks and looks down at the dog, raising one eyebrow. Is it lost, maybe? This is a strange place for a dog to get in lost in though, plus it's walking in circles in front of the chambers. Not lost then, waiting on its owner?
Dirk looks up to the rooms, then back down to the dog. Shit, uh, ok. He guesses that's probably it. If it belongs to someone, he should definitely leave it alone (unless it needs food or water or whatever). Plus, even if it doesn't, he doesn't know how friendly it is. For all he knows it's stuck here and thinks the door it's circling is the exit or something. And while it doesn't look rabid, it could be aggressive. ] The exit's the other way.
[ ... yeah, ok, that was hella dumb. ]
no subject
Greetings Dirk. I am aware that it is the entrance- I have not decided if I want to enter or not yet to train with my weapon. I am weighing my options.
no subject
Needless to say, his solutions kind of suck. He sort of notes the apprehension but it's more of a hazy acknowledgment in the back of his head than anything. ] Yo. [ He's slowly getting over the shock factor of a dog saying greetings to him. Oh, and also knowing his name.
Now that he's not spacing out, he takes a look around the area. It doesn't look like anyone's around and playing ventriloquist with the dog. He looks back at the dog, trying to spot a speaker or a similar device; it yields no results. Either there's no speaker or it's impossible for his eyes to catch. So... yeah, the dog might really be talking to him. ] As fascinating as that information is, I might have to focus on something else here. Any reason why you know my name?

The "hello" startles her, simply due to the fact that she hadn't been paying attention. With her thoughts to distract her, her senses hadn't picked up on Ren wandering by. Seeing an eight foot werewolf jumping back from a tiny Pomeranian would be enough to brighten anyone's day.
Inwardly, she's kicking herself for how ridiculous she must look. Embarrassed, she mutters:]
...good day.
no subject
[Maybe he shouldn't greet everyone he sees? But it would be rude not to... Well, it's possible it's the deep voice that did it again, which seems to be the general consensus about him. It's strange, no one had commented on his voice before he'd arrived here. He is starting to wonder if it really is odd to others, or displeasing.]
You look very different from other Transports.

Blinking, he crouches to look at it.]
...Hello.
sorry about the delay! i was at a con over the weekend
[Ren sits back on his haunches, shutting down his mapping process for the moment. He doesn't recall meeting this person before, and wonders if they're new. If so, then he should do his best to assist them.]
Are you new?
don't worry, delays happen! hope you had a good time

Just limited amenities and general suckiness all around, instead.
Fortunately, there's a familiar small dog approaching to take her mind off of things. It's been a while, too, so she'll pause to regard the puppy as she struggles to remember his name...]
... Ren-kun?

B!! LATE TAG I HOPE IT'S OK-- and assuming this is before Sophie heads on her mission
She recognizes him from Asbel's assigned rooming. She had been feeling a little down, but she manages a small smile. ]
Oh, hello little one.
late tags are always okay with me!!
Greetings. You are a friend of Asbel's, correct? I apologize for disturbing you. I was attempting to make a map of the moon base.

Oh, shit. Are you looking for somewhere to do your business? Oh, don't do it here.

There is no need to worry, I do not have the capacity to perform such realistic animal functions. I am an All Mate, I am only fashioned after a dog.
[He spies the daggers, though.]
Are you going to train in this room?
